Miguel Ángel 87c6e50f5e fix(engine): a sharp sound in a film's first moments no longer grows louder with each audio pass (#5956)
* fix(engine): a sharp sound in a film's first moments no longer grows louder with each audio pass

Every AAC encode now starts in digital silence that is dropped afterwards. Opening cold on quiet sound, the native encoder coded the first loud frame three scalefactor steps hot (4.5 dB), and each re-encode (pad, true-peak correction) did it again.

* fix(engine): AAC encodes stay in step with audio that is not 48 kHz before the encoder

* test(producer): regression goldens for audio that now opens without the encoder's cold start

Miguel Ángel d5162beb50 refactor(core): one owner for the distributed fps set (#5756)
The integer rates Lambda and Cloud Run accept were written out by hand in
about 25 places across core, engine, producer, the adapters and the CLI.
They now come from DISTRIBUTED_FPS / DistributedFps / isDistributedFps in
@hyperframes/core. Engine config snapshots accept 25 like the rest.

Robin EbersandCursor cc9e1bb33a feat(producer): distributed renders accept 25 fps (#5423)
Lambda and Cloud Run renders refused 25 fps although it is an integer
rate like 24, 30 and 60, and PAL footage is 25 fps. The distributed fps
set is now {24, 25, 30, 60} in the producer's config validation, the
plan v2 manifest, the render request mapping, the Lambda and Cloud Run
event types, the CLI's lambda and cloudrun commands and the regression
harnesses.

James RussoandClaude Opus 5.5 692b89b6e5 chore(docker): pin FFmpeg 8.0.1 in the Docker images and host CI (#5576)
* chore(docker): pin FFmpeg 8.0.1 in the Docker images and host CI

Install one pinned static BtbN build (n8.0.1-66, month-end release) in
Dockerfile.test, the CLI render image, the Cloud Run image and the k8s
example, and bump the host CI install-ffmpeg-linux action from 7.1.3 to
the same build. Regression baselines and the shipped images now use the
same FFmpeg version instead of Debian's apt ffmpeg 5.1.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(producer): regenerate six regression baselines on FFmpeg 8.0.1

The Docker test image now renders with FFmpeg 8.0.1 instead of Debian's
5.1. Six fixtures fail against the 5.1 baselines; everything else passes
unchanged, including vfr-screen-recording.

- style-2-prod, style-10-prod: FFmpeg 8 honors the MP3 gapless header,
so the probed SFX duration is 1.0s instead of 1.044898s. Regenerate
  output.mp4 and compiled.html.
- vignelli-stacking: one checkpoint (8.06s) now shows source frame 201
of the 25fps a-roll, which is the right frame for that time; the old
  baseline showed frame 202.
- missing-host-comp-id, variables-prod, speed-ramp: AAC encoder output
differs enough to drop the RMS-envelope correlation on flat signals
below 0.9. Sample correlation against the source stays at 0.9999.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(cli): read the ffmpeg version from n-prefixed release builds

Release-branch ffmpeg builds, including the BtbN build now pinned in CI,
print "ffmpeg version n8.0.1-66-...". extractMajorVersion skipped the
"n8" token and returned 0 (and 1 for n7.1.3), so the CLI telemetry
smoke check failed. parseToolVersion fell back to the whole banner line.
Accept an optional "n" before the version number in both.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(cli): keep the preflight comment share flat

Fold the n-prefix note into the existing doc line instead of adding new
comment lines, which the comment ratchet rejects.

* fix(docker): pick the FFmpeg build per arch and fail on a bad binary

Dockerfile.test, the k8s example and the Cloud Run image always extracted the
amd64 archive on multiarch bases, and the piped version check passed even when
the binary could not run. All four images now pick linux64 or linuxarm64 by
TARGETARCH, fail on any other arch, and grep both ffmpeg and ffprobe for the
pinned version.

style-2-prod and style-10-prod compiled.html go back to the previous golden
with only the SFX data-duration/data-end changed, instead of a full
recompile that also picked up unrelated compiler output.

James RussoandClaude Opus 5.5 6afcb48395 fix(engine): sample VFR video by timestamp so it does not freeze on FFmpeg 8 (#5572)
* fix(engine): sample VFR video by timestamp so it does not freeze on FFmpeg 8

VFR sources were resampled with `-fps_mode cfr -r`, which on FFmpeg 8 honours
each frame's duration. In mp4 files with B-frames those durations are
decode-order gaps, so a frame can claim 0.4s while the next one starts 17ms
later, and the extracted video froze on it. VFR now uses the same fps filter
sampling as CFR (the frame on screen at each output tick), bounded by
-frames:v so a window that ends on a still keeps its rounded-up frame count.

The two-process raw pipe that worked around FFmpeg 5.1 dropping durations
under -vf is no longer needed and is removed. The vfr-screen-recording golden
is regenerated: FFmpeg 5.1's cfr mapping it was rendered with ran one to two
source frames late.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(engine): move the extraction cache to v7 so v6 VFR frames are not reused

v6 entries for VFR sources hold frames sampled by packet duration, which
FFmpeg 8 freezes and FFmpeg 5.1 lags. The key is unchanged by the fix, so
a warm cache served them after the upgrade.

James RussoandClaude Opus 5.5 51e0323af1 fix(core): a render keeps a fromTo's from-values when a frame lands just after its start (#5506)
* fix(core): a render keeps a fromTo's from-values when a frame lands just after its start

The frame redraw steps to 1 ms below the frame and back. When a tween starts
inside that 1 ms, the step down reverts its from-values and the step up does
not reapply them, so a wipe bar whose opacity comes only from its from-vars was
never drawn. Reapply them for every tween whose start the step crossed, as
#5125 does for a tween starting exactly on the frame.

Adds the gsap-redraw-start-and-overlap producer fixture, which also pins that a
slow drift resumes after a short move on the same property, as in playback.

miga-heygenandMiguel Ángel e23b3a3e31 fix(engine): copy border-width/style/color onto the replacement video frame (#3993)
* fix(engine): copy border-width/style/color onto the replacement video frame

injectVideoFramesBatch substitutes each <video> with a sibling <img> holding
an extracted still frame, copying an allow-listed set of CSS properties from
the video's computed style onto the img. border-width/border-style/
border-color were absent from that allow-list, so any border authored
directly on a <video> never reached the replacement image and disappeared
from render/snapshot output. border-radius and clip-path were already on the
list and already clip a replaced element's content correctly without
needing overflow:hidden, confirmed by a real-Chromium test that exercises
the actual capture path and reads real screenshot pixels.

Also corrected a stale comment in frameCapture.ts claiming
detectCssEffectRisk can return "clip-path" as a risk value -- it can't; that
string only ever comes from a separate, animation-only at-risk-props gate
further down the same file.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* test(producer): regenerate style-9-prod golden for the border fix

style-9-prod's video has an authored 8px border + 16px border-radius
(design_review.md calls out the "floating" look) that never rendered before
this fix, so its committed golden baked in the pre-fix (borderless) output.
Regenerated via `tsx src/regression-harness.ts style-9-prod --update`;
verified the diff is exactly the border/radius becoming visible (extracted
frames before/after) and the fixture passes its own visual/audio checks
again (100/100 checkpoints, correlation 1.000).

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* fix(engine): measure the video's box before styling its replacement frame

injectVideoFramesBatch measured the video's used box (offsetLeft/Top/
Width/Height) after creating, inserting, and styling the replacement
<img> sibling -- once that copy loop started carrying border-width
(added for the border-visibility fix), the freshly-inserted, still
in-flow, now-bordered <img> competed for space in a flex row before
the video's own box was ever read. In a flex-centered layout (video
width:100%, sharing a row with the img sibling), that shrank the
measured video box by the exact width of the border, so the img ended
up sized from the video's post-shrink box instead of its authored one.

Moved the measurement to before the <img> is created/inserted/styled
at all, and set img.style.boxSizing = "border-box" explicitly after
the style-copy loop, since offsetWidth/offsetHeight (and the
getBoundingClientRect fallback) are always a border-box measurement
regardless of what box-sizing value that loop copies from the video's
own computed style.

Added a flex-centered regression test asserting the replacement img's
box stays identical to the video's box; confirmed it fails with the
old measurement order (a 16px border shrinks a 500px box to 484px) and
passes with the fix. Regenerated the one fixture (style-9-prod) whose
committed golden had baked in the shrunk-frame geometry.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* refactor(engine): consolidate video-box measurement into one object

Follow-up to c88890357: group the four measurement locals into a
single videoBox object instead of four loose consts, and trim the
surrounding comments down to their load-bearing content. No behavior
change -- same measurement order, same fallback conditions, same
applied style values; re-verified red (reverting the measurement order
still reproduces the 500px -> 484px shrink) and green.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* refactor(engine): trim the border-fix comments to the invariant

* test(producer): keep main's style-9-prod compiled.html; timings are unchanged

* test(producer): repin the classification source hash for test reachability

* fix(core): a color-graded bordered source keeps its canvas inside its border box

* fix(core): a graded source with an empty content box still shows its border

* fix(core): a border-only graded canvas stays hidden until the source has drawn

* fix(core): border-only graded canvas shows only while grading hides the source

* test(core): pin the border-only canvas hide after a context loss

* fix(core): grading canvas carries no border, so a graded source never paints it twice

* fix(core): graded injected frame drops its border once grading draws over it

* fix(core): a released grading entry gives the injected frame its border back

* fix(core): a released injected frame takes the video's current border style

miga-heygenandMiguel Ángel 9460c983e0 fix(engine): recover audio duration by decoding the final frame (#3986)
* fix(engine): recover audio duration from packet timestamps before clamping

An authored `data-duration` on an <audio> element could be silently
shortened when a source file's container-summary duration (mvhd/tkhd/mdhd)
undercounts the real audio length while the packet stream itself is
intact. Add `probeAudioDurationFromPackets()`, which re-derives the true
duration from the last packet's own pts_time + duration_time — figures
ffprobe computes from the stream's own timestamps, not the container's
summary header — and wire it into the compiler's existing clamp check as a
rescue attempt before accepting a shorter value. Works regardless of
codec/profile; verified against real HE-AAC/SBR fixtures and a
binary-patched "lying container" MP4 built for the regression test.

The rescue only fires for candidates the existing clamp predicate already
flagged (no added cost on the common path), runs in parallel across
candidates rather than serially, and requires the recovered duration to
exceed the existing clamp epsilon (absorbing the few milliseconds of
priming-delay drift raw packet timestamps carry relative to an
edit-list-corrected container duration) before overriding the shorter
value.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* fix(engine): move audio duration correction into extractAudioMetadata

The previous approach compared the compiler's own packet-scan probe
against the already-corrected duration returned by extractAudioMetadata,
which meant the correction only applied to one caller and the regression
fixture happened to exercise a pre-existing AAC-LC-specific refinement
instead of the new code path.

Move the fix to the single canonical place duration is derived: replace
the old AAC-LC-only packet-count refinement (a profile allowlist assuming
a fixed 1024-samples-per-frame constant) with a codec-agnostic mechanism
that decodes the final audio frame and reads its own timestamp plus real
sample count. This has no per-codec assumption, so it applies uniformly
regardless of codec or profile, and every caller of extractAudioMetadata
benefits automatically. The compiler's own clamp logic is now unchanged
from its pre-existing form.

Verified against a real, previously-untouched case: a FLAC-in-MP4 file
(a codec the old AAC-LC-only path never corrected) with its mvhd/tkhd/mdhd
duration atoms binary-patched to half their true value while every real
frame stays intact. Confirmed this reproduces on the prior code (by
literally substituting its actual content) and is fixed by the new code.

The decode probe reads CSV output (each line stands alone) rather than
JSON (a single top-level array), and retains only the output tail under a
small cap — a lying container's true duration can be arbitrarily larger
than its declared one, and JSON truncated from the front isn't valid JSON,
so an unbounded scan of a long file silently fell back to the wrong
duration once ffprobe's stdout cap was hit.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* test(producer): update style-7-prod golden for corrected AAC duration probe

The deleted AAC-LC packet-count refinement assumed every demuxed packet
decodes to exactly 1024 samples. For this suite's real audio fixture
(a 48kHz stereo AAC-LC MP4), that assumption overcounts: ffprobe reports
753 demuxed packets, but only 752 of them actually decode into a real
audio frame (verified via raw PCM sample count: 770048 samples / 48000Hz
= 16.0426666...s). The old mechanism's 753 * 1024 / 48000 = 16.064s was
therefore wrong; the new decode-based probe correctly derives ~16.043s
from the real final frame.

Regression-shards caught this as a compilation mismatch on the previous
commit. Verified the corrected golden against the real source: full
compilation, visual (0 failed frames), and audio (correlation 0.966)
checks all pass locally with the actual LFS-hosted golden video, and a
standalone compileForRender() check confirms all other audio-bearing
fixture suites in the repo are unaffected.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* perf(engine): seek the audio decode probe instead of scanning the whole file

probeDecodedAudioDuration ran a full, single-threaded decode of the
entire audio stream on every extractAudioMetadata call (once per audio
element in the HTML compiler, plus audio mixing/padding/encoding
steps). On real 30-minute files this took over a second, and could
approach ffprobe's 30s deadline on multi-hour files while holding a
shared probe slot the whole time.

Add -read_intervals so the probe seeks to ~1 second before the
container's already-known claimed duration and decodes only that
tail. This is safe because the correction only ever raises the
duration: an honest or over-claiming container's seek lands at or past
the real end and finds nothing extra, while an under-claiming
container (the only case this exists to fix) still has real frames
past the seek point. If the tail read finds nothing at all, fall back
to a full unseeked decode before giving up, protecting files whose
seek index is unreliable (an index-less or non-seekably-sourced
container) from silently missing a real correction — mirroring the
existing seek-then-fallback pattern already used by the sibling
final-video-frame probe in this file.

Also replaces the real-file regression test's runtime ffmpeg-spawning
fixture generation with two small, committed binary fixtures (an
honest FLAC-in-MP4 file and a copy with its container duration atoms
halved) plus the ffprobe-static package, so this test's real-file
proof actually runs in CI instead of being silently skipped when no
system ffmpeg is on PATH.

Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* refactor(engine): trim the audio duration probe comments to the invariant

* test(engine): cache tests queue the decode probe and count metadata probes only

* test(engine): probe for ffprobe with a literal argv so the argv contract classifies it

* test(producer): regenerate the speed-ramp golden for the single-encode mix

The audio probe now reads the mixed AAC as exactly 4.000 s instead of the
packet-count 4.032 s (which counted the priming frame), so the final mix
is stream-copied instead of re-encoded once more. Same waveform (sample
correlation 0.9996 vs the old golden), 3.1 dB less true-peak attenuation;
video frames are byte-identical.

* fix(engine): measure decoded audio from the stream start and trust it for raw ADTS

The decoded last-frame end is an absolute timestamp, so subtract the audio stream's start time
(format start as fallback) before comparing it with the start-relative container duration, and
start the tail read at start + duration - 1 s. MPEG-TS audio (1.4 s default start) and offset
MP4s were over-extended by their start time.

Raw ADTS (format aac) has no duration field; ffprobe estimates it from the opening bitrate and
overclaims after a quiet opening. Its decoded timestamps are sample-counted, so for raw ADTS the
decoded end now wins in both directions beyond the margin. Other containers stay upward-only so
an MP4 edit list is never extended.

Miguel Ángel 02775c716f fix(core): render GSAP set steps on the frame they land on (#4911)
* fix(core): render tl.set steps on the frame they land on

The runtime re-rendered a seek by stepping just past the target and back.
Arriving backwards, GSAP applies same-time zero-duration steps in reverse,
so a film that hides every frame then shows one, on its frame grid, lost
that layer on every step: in renders, previews and thumbnails. It also
fired a tl.call on the target time again on each repeated seek. Both seek
paths now re-render from just below the target, silently.

miga-heygenandMiguel Ángel d7285e414b fix(engine): preserve composition root background in alpha exports (#3976)
* fix(engine): preserve composition root background in alpha exports

initTransparentBackground() forced html, body, AND any
[data-composition-id] element (the composition root, or a nested
sub-composition root) to transparent for every alpha-carrying capture
session. That's correct for the HDR two-pass layered DOM pass, where
the HDR video itself is the backdrop — but for a plain alpha export
(MOV ProRes4444, webm+alpha) of a normal composition, an author's own
background painted on the root is real, intentional content, and it
was being silently dropped.

Add CaptureOptions.clearCompositionRootBackground, threaded through
session.options into every general-session call site (default false —
preserve the root's authored background). The two HDR-layered-DOM-
session call sites set it to true, keeping their existing (correct)
behavior. initTransparentBackground's injected stylesheet is now
idempotently rewritten rather than insert-once/skip, so a caller's
choice is never silently ignored by an earlier call on the same page.

Add a producer test fixture + transparency-test.ts check proving a
composition root's authored background survives into alpha output,
plus unit tests for both flag values and the rewrite-on-repeat-call
behavior directly.
Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* test(producer): register the new transparency fixture with the shard planner

transparency-regression-root-bg is exercised by transparency-test.ts
directly (asserts a real alpha channel), not by the sharded regression
harness, same as its sibling transparency-regression. The shard
planner hard-fails on any fixture directory it doesn't recognize as
either scheduled or explicitly excluded, so register it in the
excluded list with the same reason as its sibling.
Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* fix(engine): restore explicit transparent-background call for HDR layered sessions

The previous commit removed the two HDR-layered-DOM-session call
sites' own explicit initTransparentBackground() call, relying on
initializeSession()'s internal call (gated behind
session.options.format === "png") plus a new
clearCompositionRootBackground session option.

That was wrong: a plain HDR render's own DOM session captures
"jpeg", not "png" — the final HDR MP4/HEVC output doesn't itself
carry an alpha channel, only the layered-compositing step does. So
initializeSession()'s internal call never fired at all for this
common case, and the HDR video layer never got a transparent DOM
backdrop to composite into.

Reproduced directly against the hdr-regression fixture (part of the
regression-shards CI suite): a real local render showed a severe
PSNR collapse (~8-56dB) in the "Window B: z-order sandwich" segment,
where a DOM element behind the HDR video, the video itself, and a
translucent DOM overlay in front all need correct z-ordering — with
the composition root's own background no longer cleared, it painted
solid over the video slot instead of letting the video composite
through. Confirmed via bisection: reverting to the prior commit's
files reproduces 0 failed frames (passing); the removed-call version
reproduces the exact failure; restoring the explicit calls fixes it
again (100/100 checkpoints, 0 failed frames).

Restore the explicit, unconditional call in both HDR call sites,
right after initializeSession(). clearCompositionRootBackground still
does its job for the general/plain-alpha-export path (frameCapture.ts),
which is unaffected by this fix.
Co-Authored-By: Miguel Ángel <miguel.sierra@heygen.com>

* refactor(engine): let the HDR layered pass own composition-root clearing

Drop the CaptureOptions.clearCompositionRootBackground field: every HDR layered
DOM session already calls initTransparentBackground right after init, so that
call is the one owner. Engine paths use the default, which keeps root backgrounds.

* chore(producer): drop comment additions the comment ratchet rejects

Miguel ÁngelandKenneth Shortrede c9b3d9c962 fix(engine): SDR renders keep footage and page colours as in the source (#4564)
* fix(engine): declare SDR extracted frames as sRGB so Chrome does not darken footage

* fix(engine): encode SDR mp4 frames with the BT.709 matrix they are tagged with

Chrome hands the SDR encoder BT.601 full-range JPEG captures (or RGB PNGs).
The encoders only converted the range, so swscale kept the BT.601 matrix under
the BT.709 tag (ffmpeg 5.1 to 7.0: CSS #C83C28 delivered as #D44824) or
converted YUV to YUV through a low-precision step (ffmpeg 8+: #101010 delivered
as #0B0D0D). Decode to RGB with the capture matrix, then encode with BT.709.

* fix(engine): tag SDR frames plain sRGB so every ffmpeg writes the sRGB chunk

ffmpeg writes a PNG sRGB chunk only for BT.709 primaries and writes cICP only
from 6.1. On ffmpeg 5.1 (Debian bookworm) a BT.601-tagged source therefore got
cHRM plus gAMA 1/2.2, which Chrome decodes as a pure 2.2 power: 0x10 shadows
rendered as 0x07. Declaring BT.709 primaries too gives the sRGB chunk on every
version, so Chrome shows the frame code values for every SDR source. The test
now reads the PNG chunks instead of ffprobe, which reports no transfer for an
sRGB chunk on ffmpeg 5.1.

* fix(engine): extract SDR jpg frames as the BT.601 full range JPEG readers assume

The default frame format for opaque SDR sources is JPEG. ffmpeg converted the
BT.709 source to full-range YUV without changing the matrix, and every JPEG
reader (Chrome included) decodes BT.601, so footage shifted: 0xC83C28 showed as
0xBB2D29. The old mp4 encode made the inverse mistake and hid it; with the
encode fixed, it would reach the output. Decode through RGB with the source
matrix, then encode BT.601 full range, keeping 4:2:0.

Co-authored-by: Kenneth Shortrede <95665480+sontiac@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(engine): round the SDR mp4 colour conversion accurately

swscale's default rounding moved saturated colours up to 3 codes (pure red 254
delivered as 251 on ffmpeg 5.1 to 7.0); accurate_rnd brings that to 1. The
chunk encoder now decides the HDR-or-SDR filter once, and the 10-bit GPU pad
test sets hdr, which its name always claimed.

* style(engine): keep the colour filter reasons in names and tests, not source comments

The comment ratchet caps a file's comment share: the new filter module and the
extractor carry their intent in constant names, and the encode test states why
the conversion goes through RGB.

* fix(engine): keep colour edges sharp through the SDR colour conversions

Going through RGB upsampled chroma with swscale's default filter, so ffmpeg 4.4
to 7.x smeared colour across edges by about 2 px (red 254 next to blue came out
8 inside the blue). Nearest-neighbour resampling maps the half-resolution chroma
back one to one, keeps the flat-colour results, and makes accurate_rnd redundant.
The pixel tests now also check a red to blue edge.

* test(producer): regenerate goldens whose colours the old mp4 matrix bent

These four fixtures compare at 40 to 45 dB, and their goldens were rendered
with the BT.601-under-BT.709 encode, so the corrected colours score 34 to 37 dB.
Regenerated in the Dockerfile.test image. Each new golden is closer to the
colour its page declares, e.g. #00d4aa was 00bcab and is now 00d3aa, and
#087443 was 006643 and is now 087241.

* fix(engine): keep VFR frame timing when extraction applies colour filters

ffmpeg before 6.1 ignores frame durations in CFR resampling once any -vf is
set, so a VFR window ending on a still lost frames. Filtered VFR extraction
now resamples in one process exactly as before and filters in a second.

* fix(engine): encode raw SDR layered frames in BT.709

Co-authored-by: Kenneth Shortrede <95665480+sontiac@users.noreply.github.com>

* test(engine): keep the new colour tests inside the format, comment and argv checks

* fix(engine): keep HDR and unusual pixel formats out of the two-process VFR path

The raw handoff dropped HDR10 light levels and misread semi-planar formats, and
decoder options rejected some ffprobe colour names. Only SDR sources in formats
nut carries unchanged now take it, their colour tags come back through setparams,
and a process that cannot start releases the other.

Co-authored-by: Kenneth Shortrede <95665480+sontiac@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(engine): read untagged footage with the matrix Chrome plays it with

Chrome decodes an untagged matrix as BT.709 from 720 coded lines up and as
BT.601 below; extraction assumed BT.601 at every size, so HD footage without
colour tags shifted hue against Studio's own preview.

Co-authored-by: Kenneth Shortrede <95665480+sontiac@users.noreply.github.com>

* fix(engine): untagged VP9 and AV1 footage keeps BT.601, as Chrome plays it

Chrome applies the 720-line rule only to codecs it decodes through ffmpeg
(H.264, VP8); untagged VP9, VP9 alpha and AV1 play as BT.601 at every size.
Also widens the raw-pipe pixel formats to all verified ones, and reports the
pipeline process that failed first by settle order, not by per-process clocks.

Miguel Ángel bdecae066a feat(engine): render speed ramps with the same source-time mapping as the preview (#4143)
* feat(engine): render speed ramps with the same source-time mapping as the preview

The frame extractor, frame lookup table, coverage check, compile-time duration and audio mixer
read a clip's rate lane through sourceTimeAt, so a rendered frame at t shows the source frame
the preview shows. Audio bakes a ramp as consecutive source slices stretched by their mean
rate, keeping pitch. The compile-time attribute reader now handles single-quoted and
entity-encoded JSON attributes. Adds a speed-ramp regression fixture.

* test(producer): regenerate the speed-ramp golden audio with the current engine

The stored baseline predates the per-slice audio fix, so its audio drifted 1 to 3 percent in
pitch from the expected source-time track and the CI render correlated at 0.61. Rendered in the
CI test image, the new baseline tracks the expected pitch to 0.1 percent median, and the compare
now reports visual 0 failed frames and audio correlation 1.000.

* refactor(core): drop data-preserve-pitch, pitch is preserved by construction

The engine always time-stretches audio with atempo, so an opt-out read only by
the preview made preview and render disagree. Remove the attribute and its
reader so both paths keep pitch.

Vance IngallsandClaude Fable 5.1 7b65cb98e7 fix(producer): concat directly on a full segmented resume and document the retry surface
Review follow-ups on the R3 hardening PR:

- A resume that finds every segment complete no longer opens a browser: the
stage closes the probe it was handed, concatenates the plan's segment list
and returns success. A stage test asserts the session factory is never
  called on that path.
- retryAfterTargetLoss notes that its recycle also resets the worker's
cadence counter (intended: the fresh browser is as new as a cadence restart).
- The long-form README gains a Known cost section on the narrower retry
surface of segmented capture versus plain streaming, and an operational
note that renders/.hf-segments/<planHash>/ persists after failure by design
and that the plan hash now covers GPU encoder, output resolution and motion
  blur.

Four renders on the 60 s fixture, one injected failure each: ffmpeg killed
mid-stream, one worker's Chrome killed, the same under the manual
HF_DE_PARALLEL_STREAM opt-in, and one worker frozen with SIGSTOP under a 5 s
stall window. All four retried on one worker and delivered all 1800 frames;
the worker death surfaced its own error in 0.9 s instead of a 60 s stall
relabel, and the opt-in cohort retried at one worker instead of N. Records
the one caveat: a frozen renderer cannot observe the pool abort, so that
retry waits for the pool to settle.

Three workers produced a byte-identical file to the single-worker segmented

execute.ts is where the plan becomes RenderOptions, and it dropped both new

never resumed. Nothing failed: the render just silently re-captured
everything. Caught by the Phase 2b gate, which is the only check that spans
plan -> options -> request -> config; the gate doc now says so.

Gate result recorded: killed at 2 of 6 segments, resume skipped both,
finished in 3m32 against 5m13, and the output was byte-identical to the
uninterrupted render.

Vance IngallsandClaude Opus 5 7000e32942 test(producer): record the Phase 2a gate result and its real pass criteria
The spec's "PSNR >= 45 dB vs the single-encoder output" reads as a failure
on a healthy render: the measured average is 44.4 dB because segmented
capture forces a closed GOP with scene-cut detection off, and two CRF
encodes of identical frames differ regardless. The boundary frames are the
HIGHEST-PSNR frames in the series (48-62 dB forced IDRs), which is what the
gate should actually assert.

Also records the cost this buys nothing back on: the segmented stage runs
the plain capture loop rather than the depth-2 worker-encode pipeline, so
the same fixture takes 5m16 against streaming's 2m43.

Miguel Ángel 9981d9afb7 fix(capture): never silently render a webgpu composition blank (#4091)
* fix(capture): never silently render a webgpu composition blank

A composition declaring data-requires-webgpu only got the Chrome WebGPU
flag when hardware GPU auto-detection succeeded. On a software-GPU host
it launched without the flag and rendered blank with no error.

compositionRequiresWebGpu (static declaration check) and
assertWebGpuAdapterAvailable (live per-page adapter probe) now live once
in packages/engine's browserManager, the shared choke point every launch
site already goes through. All six launch sites (frame capture, the four
CLI diagnostic commands, the studio thumbnail server, and the render
pipeline's capture-options builder) route through those two functions;
the old CLI-only static-heuristic guard is deleted, not kept alongside
the new one. A software host that cannot obtain any WebGPU adapter now
fails loudly naming the requirement instead of producing a blank frame.

* fix(capture): thread requiresWebGpu through the distributed chunk-render path

The distributed renderChunk() path built its CaptureOptions without
requiresWebGpu, so it fell through to frameCapture's own fetch-based
detection, whose failure path silently treats "requires webgpu" as
"doesn't" if that fetch ever fails. Every other launch site (frame
capture, all four CLI diagnostic commands, the studio thumbnail server,
and the in-process render pipeline) already reads the value from HTML
already in memory or on disk instead of relying on that fallback.

Reads the compiled composition's index.html the same way probeStage
already does and derives requiresWebGpu from it before building
CaptureOptions. Adds a regression test that pins the exact path
renderChunk() reads at render time, since the composition doesn't
actually exercise WebGPU so an end-to-end render can't distinguish the
two cases on this host.

* test(producer): observe the real CaptureOptions renderChunk() builds

The previous regression test called plan() and compositionRequiresWebGpu()
directly, bypassing renderChunk() entirely, so it could not detect a
regression to the wiring it was meant to protect (confirmed: it stayed
green with the fix reverted).

Exports the existing createCaptureSession dependency seam so a test can
substitute a spy that delegates to the real implementation while
capturing the CaptureOptions object renderChunk() actually constructs.
Verified non-vacuous by reverting the fix and confirming the test fails.

* fix(gcp-cloud-run): resolve puppeteer-core from a real file in the webgpu probe

The image build's WebGPU adapter probe imported puppeteer-core from an
inline `bun -e` eval string. The eval's synthetic /app/[eval] location
can't resolve the workspace-hoisted dependency, so every build of this
stage failed closed with "Cannot find package 'puppeteer-core'" before
the probe itself ever ran.

Moves the probe into a real script file next to probe-beginframe.ts,
which already imports puppeteer-core dynamically the same way and
resolves fine from its real workspace location. Verified locally against
a cached chrome-headless-shell binary.

* fix(engine): bound the webgpu adapter probe so a stuck driver can't hang the caller

requestAdapter() has no native timeout. A broken software GPU driver
that never settles it would hang assertWebGpuAdapterAvailable
indefinitely, including inside the GCP image build's probe RUN step,
producing an opaque build timeout instead of a clean probe failure.

Races the in-page request against a bounded timeout so a stuck adapter
reads as unavailable and fails the same way a genuinely absent one does.

* test(cli): mock the engine's webgpu exports in the browser-fallback test

* test(producer): run the typegpu adapter fixture only on hosts with a hardware WebGPU adapter

The fixture declares data-requires-webgpu, so a software-only host now refuses it
instead of silently rendering the shader blank. The old golden had no shader in it.
Tag it webgpu, skip that tag in the CI image and the test scripts, and re-record the
golden from a Metal render with the shader visible.

* fix(engine): bound the composition fetch that decides the webgpu flag

createCaptureSession fetched the served page with no timeout before launching the
browser, so a hung server stalled a render forever and hung a fake-timer test. Give it a
five second limit, and let that test say it has no WebGPU requirement the way the
producer does.

* fix(capture): refuse a software fallback WebGPU adapter instead of rendering on it

swiftshader reports a WebGPU adapter but cannot render canvas WebGPU, so a
data-requires-webgpu composition on a software-only host crashed on its first frame.
Refuse fallback adapters with the same clear WebGPU-unavailable error. The GCP image
probe now serves its page over http (file:// hides navigator.gpu) and reports a
software-only host instead of failing the image build.

* fix(engine): parse the composition root tag without a backtracking regex

* fix(engine): keep quoted attribute values whole when reading the composition root tag

James RussoandAkshay Kumar Sharma a16222d9a2 fix(fonts): supplement alias faces from the canonical family (#3230)
A family resolving through FONT_ALIAS_MAP could emit @font-face rules drawn from two
unrelated typefaces under one font-family name, split by weight and style. The
supplementation fetch was passed the authored name, so for a cross-typeface alias
(helvetica -> inter) it asked Google for the very typeface the alias exists to replace.

Diagnosed, reported and fixed by Akshay Kumar Sharma (@akzarma) in #3083 / #3085. This
PR carries that work because the fix requires re-recorded regression baselines, which
are LFS objects we cannot push to a fork's LFS store.

Baselines re-recorded for style-15-prod and style-3-prod, each verified text-only
before acceptance. All 9 regression shards pass.

Miguel Ángel dc4383113c fix(producer): mix audio into a container that can record encoder delay (#3200)
* fix(producer): mix audio into a container that can record encoder delay

Every rendered composition's audio landed 1024 samples (21.33 ms at 48 kHz)
after its authored `data-start`, against a frame-accurate video track.

The mix is AAC-encoded, and AAC encoders emit ~1024 priming samples. The mix
was written to a raw ADTS `.aac` file, which has nowhere to record that delay,
so it decoded as real leading silence and every stage downstream preserved it
faithfully. Measuring each intermediate localises it precisely: the source WAV
is exact, the mixer's own output is already 21.33 ms late, and the pad/trim and
mux stages inherit it unchanged. The filter graph itself is correct - run by
hand to PCM it lands on the authored start.

Switch the artifact to an MP4-family container, which stores the delay as an
edit list that decoders strip. Same codec, same bitrate, so no size or quality
change.

The filename is a contract shared by three consumers - the mux input, the
distributed plan artifact, and the PNG-sequence sidecar handed to users for
NLE ingest - and its extension is what selects the muxer. Give it one owner in
the engine rather than five literals, so those consumers cannot drift onto
different containers.

Note for reviewers: this renames the distributed plan's audio artifact, which
is an on-disk contract between the plan writer and the assembler. Both move
together here, but a plan written by an older build would not be found by a
newer assembler. Flagging in case that mixed-version window matters for how
these are deployed.

* fix(cloud): read the plan audio artifact name from the producer contract

The aws-lambda and gcp-cloud-run adapters each restated the plan's audio
filename in five places, so renaming it in the producer left them looking for a
file that is no longer written. CI caught it: the gcp dispatch test asserting a
plan has no audio artifact started seeing one.

Export the name from `@hyperframes/producer/distributed` and consume it in both
adapters. This is the same failure the constant exists to prevent, one package
boundary further out: a literal that drifts from the writer's is a silently
missing audio track rather than a loud error, because both call sites only ever
ask whether the file exists.

* fix(cloud): accept a legacy plan's audio artifact name for one release

Review raised a rolling-deploy window I had flagged but left undecided: `plan`
and `assemble` are separate invocations bridged by object storage, so a
pre-rollout planner can be paired with a post-rollout assembler. Both readers
locate the artifact by existence alone, which makes that pairing a silently
muted video rather than an error. That is reachable enough to be worth two
lines, so reads now accept the old name while writes only ever emit the new one.

Give the fallback one owner (`resolvePlanAudioPath` / `isPlanAudioArtifactPath`)
rather than four call sites, marked for deletion one release out.

Also fixes a hole in the first pass of this: the plan-v2 materializer matched
either name but then joined the CURRENT one, so a legacy plan resolved to a path
that was never written. It now joins the artifact's own name.

Review nits in the same pass: correct the pad-branch docstring, which still
described a concat-copy shape the pad branch stopped using when it moved to
apad + re-encode, and fix the Windows fixture's stale `.aac` output extension so
it cannot model a shape that reintroduces the priming delay.

* test(producer): rebake the missing-host-comp-id golden without the audio delay

The pinned reference was rendered before this branch, so it carries the 1024
sample encoder-priming delay in its audio. With the delay gone the correct audio
now sits ahead of the reference and the harness's envelope correlation drops
below its floor.

Cross-correlating the old and new references at native 48 kHz gives a lag of
exactly 1024 samples (21.33 ms) at a correlation of 0.99985: same audio, moved
by exactly the amount this branch removes. Regenerated inside the CI container
(Dockerfile.test, ffmpeg 5.1.9) rather than natively, so the reference matches
the encoder CI will compare against - the container reproduced CI's failure to
the digit (correlation 0.3938764027803616, lagWindows -12) before the rebake and
passes at correlation 1.0 after it.

Note for archaeology: the new reference is also 3 dB louder than the old one.
That gap is not from this branch - `main` and this branch render the fixture at
the same level - it is pre-existing drift the reference had accumulated, which a
scale-invariant correlator could never see. The rebake absorbs it.

Only output.mp4 is updated. `--update` also rewrites compiled.html, but that
diff is embedded-font churn with no bearing on the comparison, which reports
"Failed at compilation: 0" either way.

* test(producer): rebake the variables-prod golden without the audio delay

Same cause as the missing-host-comp-id rebake, caught by shard-8 once the
earlier shard stopped failing and the rest of the matrix could run: this
reference also carries the encoder-priming delay this branch removes.

Reproduced in the CI container to the digit (correlation 0.42704173048439215,
lagWindows -12), rebaked there, and it now passes at correlation 1.0.

Worth recording: the shift here is 2048 samples (42.67 ms) at correlation
0.99983, exactly twice the 1024 of the other fixture. The delay compounds once
per un-compensated AAC generation, and this fixture's audio needs its duration
normalized, so it takes the pad/trim branch's re-encode and picks up a second
frame of priming on top of the mixer's. So the pre-fix error was not a fixed
21 ms - it grew with the number of times the audio was re-encoded.

All nine shards ran in that CI round with only this one failing, so the matrix
has now covered every fixture against this change.

Miguel Ángel b57dc13cb6 fix(engine): stop SwiftShader ghosting in software screenshot captures (#3096)
Apply the --disable-gpu-compositing workaround to every software capture, not just BeginFrame ones. SwiftShader's compositor re-presents stale raster for a partially invalidated layer, so successive screenshot captures accumulate copies of earlier seeks; alpha renders are forced onto the screenshot path and were the only ones left unprotected.

Refreshes the byte-strict png-sequence alpha baseline for the resulting antialiasing delta (content unchanged, min PSNR 41.3 dB).

Fixes #3049.

Akshay Kumar Sharma 172311e95e fix(compiler): split font-family only on top-level commas (#3067)
parseFontFamilyValue() split the family stack on every comma, so
`font-family: var(--brand-font, inherit)` became two tokens:
`var(--brand-font` and `inherit)`. The var() guard from #1655 only
skips tokens starting with `var(`, so the orphan fragment was treated
as a requested family, failed every resolution path, and aborted
fail-closed distributed renders with:

FontFetchError: [Compiler] Unresolved fonts in fail-closed mode:
inherit). Distributed renders require all fonts to be resolvable.

Split on top-level commas only, so a var() expression (including a
nested one) stays a single token. Quotes are tracked as well, both so
parentheses inside a quoted family name cannot skew the depth counter
and so a legal quoted comma no longer splits.

Vance IngallsandClaude Opus 5 255cf92915 fix(skills, producer): terminate ffprobe options in shipped skill scripts
The contract test only walked packages/*/src and only .ts, so it could not see
the shipped agent tools under skills/**, which are .mjs/.cjs. 19 call sites
there and in package tests were still missing `--` immediately before the
input while the suite reported the bug class closed — a dash-prefixed filename
is parsed as an option and fails the same way.

Sweeps packages/, skills/ and scripts/ now, including .mjs/.cjs and test
files (dither.test.mjs was one of the broken sites). Excludes only the
contract test itself, which documents the contract with example argvs
including a deliberately misordered one.

Two guards were fixed while widening: the terminator must never be inserted
after `-i`, which consumes the next token (a blind pass hit an ffmpeg input
and a base64 -i), and comment prose describing a spawn is not a spawn.

Also routes every audioPadTrim probe failure through one sanitizer at the
boundary. runFfprobeJson scrubbed its own stderr, but
defaultProbeVideoFrameInfo threw `no video stream in ${videoPath}` raw into
the public PadTrimAudioResult.error, and an injected probe can throw anything.
The redaction unit tests all passed with the caller wiring deleted; the new
public-path regressions fail without it.

Miguel Ángel 6cfb05e38b fix(render): preserve transparency in GIF output (#2327)
## What

- Treat GIF as an alpha-capable output format and capture its frames as RGBA PNGs.
- Encode transparent GIFs with explicit FFmpeg palette semantics: `reserve_transparent=1` and `alpha_threshold=128`.
- Keep page-side shader compositing enabled for GIF while the resulting composite is captured through the RGBA disk-frame path.
- Extend the real render harness to verify decoded GIF alpha and compare a GIF shader-transition frame against the existing MP4 golden.
- Preserve the existing opaque encoder contract: `needsAlpha=false` continues to use JPEG frames without alpha-only palette filters.

## Why

Direct `--format gif` renders silently flattened transparent compositions when frames are captured as JPEG, because the palette encoder receives no alpha plane to preserve.

GIF also needs page-side shader compositing. A blanket `needsAlpha` exclusion disabled that path after enabling RGBA capture, while the layered compositor intentionally excludes GIF. That left shader GIFs on the DOM fallback and produced hard cuts instead of the authored WebGL blend.

## How

- Centralize output alpha detection in `outputNeedsAlpha`, shared by in-process and distributed planning.
- Select PNG or JPEG GIF frame input from the resolved alpha requirement.
- Make palette transparency flags explicit and conditional so the legacy opaque path retains its existing arguments.
- Add an explicit output-format capability for page-side shader compositing: MP4 keeps its opaque streaming path, GIF uses RGBA PNG disk frames, and WebM/MOV/PNG sequence retain their existing paths.
- Add `data-no-timeline` to the static transparency fixture so the artifact regression does not wait for a timeline it intentionally does not register.

## Test plan

- [x] RED on base: direct GIF decoded with an opaque corner instead of alpha 0.
- [x] RED on the previous PR head: the real GIF shader-transition frame scored 11.05 dB against the existing golden because neither shader compositor was active.
- [x] `bun test packages/producer/src/services/render/renderFormat.test.ts packages/producer/src/services/render/stages/encodeStage.test.ts packages/producer/src/services/render/capturePlan.test.ts` — 23 passed.
- [x] `bun run --filter @hyperframes/producer typecheck`
- [x] `bun run --filter @hyperframes/producer build`
- [x] `bun run --filter @hyperframes/producer test:transparency` — WebM, GIF, and PNG sequence alpha assertions passed; GIF shader control/transition frames scored 28.11/26.57 dB against the golden.
- [x] `bun run --cwd packages/producer tsx src/regression-harness.ts page-side-shader-compositor-render-compat --sequential` — all 100 visual checkpoints passed, stream parity passed, and audio correlation was 1.000.
- [x] Changed-file oxlint, oxfmt check, pre-commit checks, and `git diff --check`.

Miguel Ángel d21883fe05 fix: recursive sub-composition inlining for depth-3+ nesting (#2660)
* fix(core): discover sub-composition hosts to a fixed point during inlining

inlineSubCompositions collected [data-composition-src] hosts from the
document once, before inlining began, then processed that fixed list in
a single flat loop. A host's inlined content could introduce new hosts
of its own (a sub-composition nesting another sub-composition), and
those were never discovered: two-level nesting worked because the
second level's host already existed in the root document, but any
third level's host only appeared inside content the single pass had
already finished walking, so its content silently never rendered.

Host discovery now runs as a work queue: after a host is inlined, the
newly inserted subtree is re-scanned for further hosts, which are
enqueued with their ancestry chain. A host whose source already appears
in its own ancestry is a circular reference and is reported through the
existing onMissingComposition channel instead of being inlined; a depth
ceiling backstops any gap in that check. Existing single- and two-level
fixtures are unaffected.

* fix(producer): assign runtime composition ids to hosts discovered mid-inline

The producer's per-instance runtime id assignment (assignBundledRuntimeCompositionIds)
ran once over the root document's initial hosts, before inlining. With
host discovery now iterating to a fixed point (previous commit), hosts
revealed inside an already-inlined sub-composition were never in that
pre-pass, so the identity map returned undefined for them: two sibling
instances of the same sub-composition, discovered mid-traversal, both
fell back to their shared authored id and clobbered each other's
variablesByComp entry.

hostIdentityMap is now a lazy map: a pre-pass cache hit returns
unchanged, a miss reads the host's authored data-composition-id,
allocates a collision-checked runtime id by scanning the live document,
writes it back, and caches it. No change to the shared inliner's call
signature. Existing single-instance and root-level reusable-template
cases (#2064) are unaffected.

* test(producer): add depth-3 nested sub-composition regression fixture

Adds a minimal three-level chain (root -> level-2 -> level-3) where the
deepest level renders a distinguishing full-frame marker, following the
existing sub-comp-* fixture pattern. Confirmed against the pre-fix
commit (735128a61) in a separate scratch checkout that the fixture fails
without the previous two commits (level-3's marker absent, ~0.4B fewer
matching pixels than the golden expects) and passes with them.

The golden reference video was captured on the team's render host
(devbox) rather than locally, to avoid PSNR drift from font/GPU
differences against whatever renders the regression suite in CI. Local
render against that golden also passes (PSNR ~24.5dB throughout, 0
failed frames of 100 checkpoints), confirming cross-machine consistency
as well.

Miguel Ángel 2be8a62c00 fix(engine): stop compositing phantom duplicates on captureBeyondViewport (#2607)
* fix(core): stop the async media-metadata rebind once render capture starts seeking

scheduleMetadataDurationHydration re-resolves and can swap the captured
GSAP timeline off a debounced loadedmetadata/durationchange event, fully
uncoordinated with the producer's own per-frame renderSeek calls. When a
full-length <video>'s metadata resolves after capture has already begun
(slow I/O, Docker), this races the deterministic BeginFrame capture loop
and can reflow sub-composition state mid-render, producing phase-offset
duplicate content in captured frames (#2550).

Render-mode duration correction already happens deterministically during
the probe stage before capture starts, so once renderSeek has been called
once there is nothing left for this self-correction to do — gate it off
for the rest of the session.

* fix(core): scope the metadata-rebind guard to actual render/export pages

renderSeek isn't capture-exclusive — Studio's own preview iframe falls
back to it for compositions whose timeline overhangs every native
adapter's duration. Gating the HF#2550 fix on renderCaptureSeekStarted
alone silently disabled the metadata-driven duration self-correction for
that live-scrub case too, where it's still needed. Require the render/
export page signal (window.__HF_EXPORT_RENDER_SEEK_CONFIG, set only by
the producer's fileServer.ts) alongside it, and add a regression test
covering the Studio-preview case.

* fix(engine): stop requesting beyond-viewport capture for video comps that don't need it

Root-caused HF#2550 by reproducing the reporter's public repro end-to-end
(not just the timeline-rebind mechanism from the earlier commits in this
branch) on native Linux: instrumented the actual DOM state during a real
capture session and confirmed the sub-composition never double-mounts —
getBoundingClientRect and the timeline's own local time both match the
single, correct DOM tree throughout. The phantom second copy only exists
in the captured screenshot pixels.

Bisected it to captureBeyondViewport: resolveVideoCaptureBeyondViewport
(#1094's tall-portrait fix) forces `Page.captureScreenshot`'s beyond-viewport
path on for any render with a native <video>, regardless of whether the
page's content actually overflows the declared capture height. On
SwiftShader that beyond-viewport path can composite a stale, vertically
offset paint of the page alongside the fresh one for content that fits
entirely within the viewport — producing exactly the reported phase-offset
duplicate. Disabling captureBeyondViewport (repro's video still present)
eliminates the duplicate outright; re-enabling it reproduces the duplicate
byte-for-byte, isolating it as the actual cause.

Adds pageContentExceedsCaptureHeight, a ground-truth measurement of the
page's actual scrollHeight against the requested capture height, and wires
it into initializeSession to downgrade captureBeyondViewport back to false
once the page is settled and it's confirmed unnecessary — the "reliable
clip predictor" the original #1094 fix's ponytail comment flagged as
missing. This keeps #1094's fix intact for content that genuinely
overflows while closing the SwiftShader ghosting hazard for the (common)
case of video that fits inside its own viewport.

* test(producer): add HF#2550 video+sub-composition regression fixture

Checks in the reporter's confirmed real-world reproduction (media
regenerated via ffmpeg testsrc2, matching their public repro repo) as a
regression fixture, with a golden baseline rendered against the fix.

Verified end-to-end via the project's own Docker regression harness:
- Rendering this fixture with the fix produces the golden baseline
(clean, single flowchart instance, captureBeyondViewport correctly
  downgraded).
- Direct CLI renders (not through this harness) against unpatched code
reproduce the reported phantom-duplicate artifact reliably (10/10).

Caveat documented in meta.json: the underlying bug is timing-dependent.
Two harness runs against unpatched code, using this same fixture, did
not reproduce the artifact (0/2) — the harness's in-process render path
apparently doesn't hit the same race window a direct CLI process does on
this host. This fixture is a best-effort regression guard and a
preserved real-world repro, not the sole protection — the deterministic
guard is packages/engine/src/services/screenshotService.test.ts's
pageContentExceedsCaptureHeight unit tests, which exercise the actual
fix logic directly.

Also adds an .gitattributes LFS rule for this fixture's source
index.html (744 KB — carries the real project's embedded base64
assets, over the largefiles hook's 500 KB non-LFS limit).

* fix: route HF#2550 fixture binaries through LFS (were committed raw)

filter.lfs.clean/smudge were locally configured as a no-op "cat" in
this repo's shared .git/config, silently disabling LFS filtering for
every worktree. The previous commit's large binaries (output.mp4,
compiled.html, source index.html, source video) landed as raw blobs
instead of LFS pointers as a result. Ran `git lfs install --local
--force` to restore the correct filter commands, then re-staged the
affected files so they commit as proper LFS pointers.

* fix(engine): address capture viewport review feedback
