## Problem
On 8GB RAM machines, renders time out at 5% with `Runtime.callFunctionOn timed out` during the duration probe. User-set timeout env vars (`PRODUCER_PUPPETEER_PROTOCOL_TIMEOUT_MS`) are silently ignored by the calibration path, and there are no CLI flags to control timeouts directly.
## Root causes
1. **Calibration timeout cap overrides user settings** — `createCaptureCalibrationConfig` used `Math.min(cfg.protocolTimeout, 30_000)`, meaning even if the user set 300s, calibration still capped at 30s. On slow hardware this causes unnecessary timeouts.
2. **8GB systems get no low-memory treatment** — `getLowMemoryFlags()`, `getGpuMemBudgetMb()`, `memoryAdaptiveCacheLimit()`, and `memoryAdaptiveCacheBytesMb()` all used `< 8192` as the threshold. Systems reporting exactly 8192 MB (common for 8GB machines) fell through to the "plenty of memory" path, getting no Chrome heap reduction or cache limits.
3. **No CLI flags for key timeouts** — Users had to discover the correct env var names (`PRODUCER_PUPPETEER_PROTOCOL_TIMEOUT_MS`, `PRODUCER_PLAYER_READY_TIMEOUT_MS`) by reading source. The non-existent `PUPPETEER_PROTOCOL_TIMEOUT` and `--browser-timeout` were common guesses that did nothing.
## Changes
- `captureCost.ts`: `Math.min` → `Math.max` so the 30s calibration default is a floor, not a ceiling. User-set higher timeouts are now respected.
- `browserManager.ts`: `>= 8192` → `> 8192` in `getLowMemoryFlags()` and `<= 8192` in `getGpuMemBudgetMb()` so 8GB systems get reduced Chrome heap and GPU memory budget.
- `config.ts`: `< 8192` → `<= 8192` in `memoryAdaptiveCacheLimit()` and `memoryAdaptiveCacheBytesMb()` so 8GB systems get reduced frame cache limits.
- `render.ts`: Added `--protocol-timeout <ms>` and `--player-ready-timeout <ms>` CLI flags, wired through `resolveConfig` overrides.
- Updated calibration tests to match the new floor-not-ceiling behavior.
- Added fallow suppressions for pre-existing unused exports in `captureCost.ts`.

Same pattern as the seekbar: role=slider + tabIndex=0 receives natural
browser focus on click, blocking playback shortcuts while focused.
ColorSlider never had an onPointerUp handler; adding one to blur
immediately after release matches the seekbar's cleanup() blur.
When forward playback reaches loopEnd and the loop wraps back to
loopStart, the RAF tick was calling `adapter.seek(loopStart)` without
keepPlaying, then immediately `adapter.play()` to resume. With the
post-3e7b464b wrapTimeline contract (default seek pauses), this means
every loop boundary executes pause→seek→pause→play for GSAP and a
stop/start RAF ticker cycle for the static-seek adapter — purely
unnecessary churn.
Pass { keepPlaying: true } so seek skips the implicit pause; the
follow-up adapter.play() is then a no-op because the underlying
adapter never paused. Adds two tests covering the wrap-around branch
(previously uncovered) and the no-loop terminal path as a regression
guard.
Completes the keepPlaying rollout: #842 introduced the option for A/E
shortcuts, #863 extended it to the runtime player, #1089 aligned the
static-seek adapter, and this applies it to the last internal caller
that explicitly resumes after seek.

createStaticSeekPlaybackAdapter.seek now accepts the same options as the
PlaybackAdapter contract and aligns the default-pause semantics with
wrapTimeline (hardened in 3e7b464b). Without keepPlaying the adapter
clears its `playing` flag and cancels the RAF ticker, so on non-GSAP
compositions a scrub during playback no longer leaves the iframe
silently advancing while the public seek wrapper marks isPlaying=false.
Follow-up to #863 review: jrusso called out the type drift and invited
a separate PR; this also closes the asymmetry with wrapTimeline.

When outPoint exceeds composition duration, rawLoopEnd > dur makes the
time >= loopEnd branch unreachable after the playhead clamp — the player
ticks forever. Clamp rawLoopEnd to dur in both forward and backward RAF
loops, matching the seek() clamping. Add test for the boundary behavior.
Trim blank lines to satisfy 600-line filesize gate.
The studio player's RAF loop in useTimelinePlayer notified the playhead
position via liveTime.notify(time) before checking the duration limit.
When adapter.getTime() returned a value past the composition's
data-duration (due to timing drift or delayed duration calculation),
the playhead would visually overshoot — showing e.g. 0:19 on a 0:10
composition.
The web player component already had this clamping (playback-state.ts
line 42, direct-timeline-clock.ts line 56), but the studio player's
forward loop was missing it.
Fix: clamp time to dur before notifying, matching the pattern already
used in the web player: Math.min(rawTime, dur) when dur > 0.
Wrap all contentWindow/contentDocument access and addEventListener/removeEventListener
calls in try/catch across usePlaybackKeyboard, useAppHotkeys, and CompositionsTab.

Add title attributes to interactive elements that were missing them:
- PlayerControls: Play/Pause, playback speed, shortcuts panel, clear
in/out-point buttons, and jump-to-frame Go button
- StudioRightPanel: Design, Layers, Motion, and Renders tab buttons
Call tl.pause() both before AND after tl.seek() in the adapter.
GSAP's seek() can reactivate a timeline depending on internal state;
the second pause() guarantees it stays frozen at the seeked position.
When seeking via the slider or timeline scrub, explicitly pause all
<video> and <audio> elements inside the preview iframe. The GSAP
timeline pauses but iframe media elements can continue playing
independently, causing audio to keep going after a seek.
Add distraction-free fullscreen mode using the HTML5 Fullscreen API.
Press F to enter fullscreen (Esc to exit). When active, the composition
fills the screen — timeline, sidebars, and editing overlays are hidden
while all playback shortcuts (Space, J/K/L, arrows, etc.) remain
functional. A fullscreen toggle button is also added to player controls.

Visual redesign of the timeline:
- Flat solid clip backgrounds, no gradients or multi-layer shadows
- Unified neutral color palette — all clips use the same base color
- Clean 6px border-radius instead of organic asymmetric radii
- Single-line labels, no redundant tag badge or time range
- 3px teal accent stripe on the left edge of every clip
- Simplified trim handles (2px accent bars)
Thumbnail fixes:
- Fixed broken thumbnail URLs — compositionSrc was an absolute URL
that got nested inside the preview/comp path. Now normalized to
relative path before constructing the thumbnail URL
- Thumbnail background changed from #000 to #1c2028 so transparent
overlay compositions render visible content against a matching
dark background
- mix-blend-mode: lighten on thumbnail layer — dark backgrounds blend
away, bright content shows through
- Removed double-label in CompositionThumbnail (was showing both a
badge at top and text at bottom)
Adds NLE-style hotkeys for muting audio and toggling loop playback in the
Studio player, matching the workflow conventions in DaVinci Resolve,
Premiere, and Final Cut.
- M toggles audio mute (no-op above 1x playback, matching the mute button's
existing gating behavior).
- Shift+L toggles loop. Ctrl/Cmd+L was considered but is filtered out by
shouldIgnorePlaybackShortcutEvent and conflicts with the browser address
bar; Shift+L is also consistent with the existing Shift+I / Shift+O
modifier pattern.
The Shift+L handler runs before the existing plain-L shuttle case so it
doesn't also start forward playback.

Root-cause fix for edits being wiped after refresh: the studio's
inspector edits were patched client-side via regex matching in
sourcePatcher.ts, which silently failed for many compositions ("Unable
to patch" toast). Replaced with a server-side patch-element API endpoint
using linkedom for proper DOM parsing via querySelector.
Also fixes the WYSIWYG render bug where sub-composition CSS was not
applied. The CSS scoping generated descendant selectors when both
attributes coexist on the same host element. Fixed to use compound
selectors for the authored root.
Edit persistence:
- New POST /file-mutations/patch-element endpoint using linkedom
- persistDomEditOperations calls server instead of client regex
- 15 tests covering all patch operation types
Render CSS scoping:
- Compound selector for authored root on host element
- Regression test: wysiwyg-subcomp-css (baseline pending Docker)
- 3 unit tests + 1 integration test
GSAP CDN fallback:

Font fix:
- Extract <link rel="stylesheet"> and <link rel="preconnect"> from
sub-composition <head> alongside existing <style>/<script> extraction
- Fixes caption components (and any sub-comp using Google Fonts via
<link> tags) losing their font-family when loaded as sub-compositions
- Applied in both runtime (compositionLoader) and compiler
(inlineSubCompositions) paths
Restore rollback path: enqueueEdit now returns the queued promise so
Promise.resolve(handler(...)).catch(rollback) in useTimelineClipDrag
fires correctly on save failure. Handlers return the promise chain.
Fix lost-update race in probe enrichment: use zustand's functional
setState so concurrent probe completions each read the latest state
atomically instead of all reading the same stale snapshot.
Harden file-change suppression: pendingTimelineEditPathRef is now a
Set<string> with exact-match lookup instead of single-slot + endsWith.
Multiple concurrent edits on different files are all suppressed correctly.
Remove dead canOffsetTrimClipStart function and its tests — no longer
called after the capability gate simplification.
Document runtime sync mechanism: added comment explaining that the
runtime re-reads data attributes on each sync tick (init.ts:1324-1368).
Fix comment wording in patchIframeDomTiming catch block.
Enable trim-start and trim-end for all authored timeline elements (divs,
sections, compositions) — not just video/audio/img. The deterministic-window
gate was overly restrictive since all non-implicit elements have authored
data-start/data-duration that define their timeline window.
Replace iframe reload after resize/move with direct DOM attribute patching
via patchIframeDomTiming(). This eliminates playhead-jump-to-zero, visual
blinking, and race conditions from file-watcher echoes. File persistence
runs in a serialized background queue (persistTimelineEdit + enqueueEdit)
so rapid edits don't overwrite each other.
Add mediabunny-based media probe service (mediaProbe.ts) for fast metadata
extraction from file headers. Timeline elements missing sourceDuration are
enriched asynchronously without waiting for DOM loadedmetadata events.
Tune the runtime media preloader: lower lazy threshold from 6 to 3 clips,
add 3s lookbehind window for reverse scrub, adaptive promoted-clip cap.
Deduplicate getTimelineEditCapabilities — computed once in TimelineCanvas
and passed as a prop to TimelineClip instead of recomputing per clip.
Remove dead PlaybackAdapter re-export from useTimelinePlayer — all consumers
import directly from playbackTypes.
## Summary
- Remove the z-index injection loops from timeline move, delete, and asset-drop commit paths — only timing/track attributes are now patched on the affected clip, leaving all other clips untouched

## Root cause
Three timeline operations (`handleTimelineElementMove`, `handleTimelineElementDelete`, `handleTimelineAssetDrop`) looped over every clip in the file on each commit and injected `style="z-index: N"` derived from an inverted `data-track-index` mapping via `buildTrackZIndexMap`. This overrode the author's CSS z-index — contradicting the documented contract that `data-track-index` does not affect visual layering — and persisted the corruption in the source HTML.

Timeline move, delete, and asset-drop operations were looping over every
clip in the file and writing style="z-index: N" derived from an inverted
data-track-index mapping. This silently overrode the author's CSS z-index
— contradicting the documented contract that data-track-index does not
affect visual layering — and persisted the corruption in the source HTML.
Remove the z-index injection loops from all three timeline commit paths.
Move and delete now only patch timing/track attributes on the affected
clip. Asset drop still sets z-index on the newly created element via the
generated HTML, without touching existing clips. Delete the now-unused
buildTrackZIndexMap helper.
Also fix patchInlineStyleInTag to handle self-closing void elements: the
old code produced malformed `<img ... / style="z-index: 7">` because it
didn't account for the trailing `/` before appending the style attribute.

* ci: run fallow audit in lefthook pre-commit
Mirrors the same `fallow audit --base ... --fail-on-issues` check that
runs in CI, but locally against HEAD so issues surface at commit time
instead of after the push round-trip.
Scoped to `packages/**` source files via the glob — non-code edits
(README, docs, top-level configs) skip the hook entirely.
Measured locally: ~5s in parallel with the existing lint/format/typecheck
checks. Doesn't extend wall-clock time because typecheck (~11s) is the
long pole, and lefthook runs commands in parallel.
The default `--gate new-only` means inherited findings don't block the
commit — same gate behavior as CI, so local pre-commit and PR audit
agree.
* refactor: delete orphan declarations flagged by fallow
After fallow's auto-fix de-exports unused symbols, oxlint surfaces them
as no-unused-vars. This PR deletes those orphan declarations outright.
Biggest cleanup: studio/src/icons/SystemIcons.tsx shrinks from 132 to 57
lines — 33 unused icon wrappers and their phosphor-icon imports deleted.
Other deletions across 14 more files covering paired getter/setters,
helper functions, dead env constants, internal components with no
callers, and cascading unused imports.
Cascade-causing files held back for follow-up PRs: renderOrchestrator
barrel of captureCost re-exports, telemetry/portUtils/remote barrels,
Button.tsx + ui/index.ts (would orphan whole file), studioMotion
type re-exports.
Test plan: typecheck clean across 8 packages, oxlint + oxfmt clean,
fallow audit exit 0 (remaining findings inherited), cli + studio
vitest suites pass.
Adds a Blocks tab to the Studio left sidebar with the full 78-item registry
catalog (58 blocks + 20 components). Users can browse by category, search by
title/description, preview CDN-hosted poster thumbnails with video-on-hover,
and install items on-demand with one click or drag-to-timeline.
Core changes:
- BlockCategory type + resolveBlockCategory() for 7 categories (Captions, VFX,
Transitions, Effects, Social, Data, Scenes)
- Registry API routes: GET /api/registry/blocks (catalog) + POST install
- StudioApiAdapter extended with listRegistryCatalog + installRegistryBlock

- flowchart-vertical preview generated and uploaded to CDN
Run `fallow fix --auto-fixable` to remove `export` keywords from symbols
fallow's reachability analysis identifies as unused. Keeps only the cases
where the symbol is still referenced internally in its own file (so
removing `export` doesn't surface a new oxlint `no-unused-vars` error).
Result: fallow dead-code findings drop from 276 → 208 (68 fewer unused
exports), with no behavior change — each symbol is still defined and used
exactly the same way within its file.
Reverted ~20 files where fallow's auto-fix would have created cascading
"declared but never used" lint errors — those are cases where the symbol
isn't used at all, and properly cleaning them up means deleting the
declaration, not just dropping `export`. Better to land that as a
separate, narrower PR rather than mixing it into a mechanical de-export.
Also reverted four false positives where fallow missed real consumers:
- `captureCost.ts` (renderOrchestrator has two separate import blocks
from the same module; fallow only saw the first)
- `propertyPanelHelpers.ts`, `domEditingLayers.ts` (real internal uses
fallow's reachability missed)
- `render.ts` (functions imported via `await import()` dynamic import,
which fallow's static analysis doesn't follow)
Test plan: bun run --filter '*' typecheck (clean), oxlint + oxfmt clean,
cli/core/studio/engine vitest suites pass (335 + 917 + 576 + 605 tests).
- [blocker] When playerAdapter is null (GSAP-only runtimes with no
win.__player), the fallback path now uses the best available timeline
adapter instead of returning null. Track timelineAdapter across the
__timeline and __timelines paths, then use it as the base for
createStaticSeekPlaybackAdapter.
- [nit] Remove dead baseAdapter alias — use bestAdapter directly.
- [tests] Add 4 tests: readTimelineDurationFromDocument with
data-hf-authored-duration fallback, createStaticSeekPlaybackAdapter
with seek-only adapter (no renderSeek), and pause lifecycle.
getAdapter() returned the runtime player or GSAP timeline adapter directly
when its duration was > 0, even when the document's timeline (computed from
sub-composition data-start + data-hf-authored-duration attributes) extended
beyond that duration. This capped the seek slider, seek clamping, and
sub-composition visibility at the adapter's shorter value.
Now each adapter path checks whether the document duration exceeds the
adapter's own duration. When it does, the adapter falls through to
createStaticSeekPlaybackAdapter which wraps the runtime player with the
correct effective duration, allowing seeking and preview across the full
timeline range.
When the runtime player's clock duration is smaller than the effective
timeline (computed from data-start + data-hf-authored-duration on
sub-composition elements), the seek is clamped too early and sub-compositions
beyond the clock duration are invisible.
Detect this mismatch in getAdapter() and pad the root GSAP timeline to the
document duration, then force a timeline rebind so the clock updates.
The seek function clamped to adapter.getDuration() which only knows the
root composition's authored duration. Appended timeline elements extend
beyond this range. Compute the effective max from both the adapter duration
and the store's element boundaries so scrubbing reaches the full timeline.
Replace the useEffect that pushed effectiveTimelineDuration into the player
store with an inline derived selector in PlayerControls. The selector computes
Math.max(duration, maxElementEnd) directly from store state, avoiding the
effect-based sync anti-pattern entirely.
The seek slider read duration from the player store, which was set from the
iframe adapter's getDuration() — only aware of the root composition's authored
data-duration. Appended sub-compositions (via Blocks panel) extend the timeline
but the slider stayed capped at the original duration.
Sync effectiveTimelineDuration (which accounts for all timeline elements) into
the player store, and prevent adapter callbacks from overwriting a larger
effective duration back down to the authored value.
* feat(studio): add clipboard payload types and ID deduplication
* feat(studio): add Ctrl+C/V/X copy/paste for timeline clips and DOM elements
* fix(studio): use duck-typing for cross-frame element access in clipboard
Elements from the preview iframe are from a different window context,
so `el instanceof HTMLElement` always returns false. Use `"outerHTML"
in el` instead to correctly detect elements across frame boundaries.
* fix(studio): preserve playhead position after paste
reloadPreview() used location.reload() which bypassed the
NLELayout saveSeekPosition effect, causing the playhead to reset
to 0:00 after paste. Switch to setRefreshKey which triggers the
effect and restores the seek position after the iframe reloads.
* fix(studio): paste DOM elements as siblings, not at composition root
DOM element paste was inserting at the composition root, losing the
parent context that provides CSS styles and positioning. Now stores
the origin selector on copy and inserts the paste as a sibling
immediately after the original element, preserving style inheritance.
Falls back to root insertion if the selector can't be matched.
* fix(studio): address review — deduplicateIds, native copy, altKey guard
- deduplicateIds regex used \b which matched data-composition-id,
data-clip-id, etc. Switch to lookbehind (?<=\s) so only standalone
id="..." attributes are rewritten. Add test pinning this.
- Ctrl+C no longer calls preventDefault() before confirming there's
a selected element. Native browser copy (text selections outside
inputs) is preserved when nothing is selected in the Studio.
- Add !event.altKey guard on C/V/X to avoid intercepting Cmd+Alt+V
(paste-as-plain-text) and similar OS gestures.
- Remove no-op .replace(/"/g, '"') flagged by CodeQL.
* fix(studio): address review round 2 — Cmd+X guard, data-start scope, revert drive-by
- Cmd+X now pre-checks selection state before preventDefault, mirroring
the Cmd+C fix. Native cut preserved when nothing is selected.
- handleCut returns Promise<boolean> so the caller can gate on it.
- data-start rewrite scoped to the outermost opening tag only, so nested
clip timing is preserved on paste.
- Removed system clipboard write (cross-tab paste unsupported, in-memory
ref is the only read path).
- Reverted the reloadPreview drive-by (setRefreshKey→location.reload);
the perf branch (#895) handles this properly via refreshPlayer().
* perf(studio): use lightweight iframe.src reload instead of Player teardown
Content refreshes (paste, move, resize, delete, asset drop) previously
triggered setRefreshKey which changed the Player's React key, causing
full web-component destruction + iframe teardown + crossfade animation
+ re-initialization of all event listeners and asset polling.
Now NLELayout intercepts refreshKey changes and calls refreshPlayer()
which just appends a cache-busting _t param to the iframe src. The
Player web component stays alive, event listeners persist, and the
reload is ~10x faster with no "waiting for media" flash.
Key-based teardown is preserved for actual structural changes (project
switch, composition drill-down via directUrl change).
* perf(studio): skip asset-loading overlay on content refreshes
The asset-loading overlay ("Preparing preview assets") polled for
video/audio readyState on every iframe load, including content
refreshes from paste/move/resize. On reloads the browser serves
assets from cache so they resolve near-instantly — the overlay
just created a disruptive flash. Now skips the polling on
subsequent loads (loadCountRef > 1), only showing it on the
initial cold load.
* feat(studio): html-backed motion panel — persist GSAP motion to element attributes
Re-architects the motion panel to store GSAP motion data as a JSON
data attribute (data-hf-studio-motion) on each element instead of a
.hyperframes/studio-motion.json sidecar file. Follows the same
pattern as position/resize/rotation edits: write to DOM, build patches,
persist to HTML source via commitPositionPatchToHtml.
Render pipeline: the studioPositionSeekReapplyRuntime now queries
[data-hf-studio-motion] elements after each seek, parses their JSON,
builds a GSAP timeline, and seeks it to the current frame time.
Studio preview: motion reapply is integrated into the manual edits seek
hook (reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek). useManifestPersistence is slimmed
to only handle save queue and seek hooks.
* fix(studio): address PR review — html-escape attrs, cache timeline, migrate sidecar, add tests
Blocker: JSON attribute values are now HTML-entity-escaped before being
written into source HTML. Read-back unescapes automatically.
Perf: motion timeline is cached between seeks at render — only rebuilt
when the concatenated JSON key changes, not on every frame.
Migration: on mount, empties legacy .hyperframes/studio-motion.json so
the legacy render script no-ops.
Tests: 46 new tests for motion read/write/clear round-trips, JSON
attribute escaping, and source patcher entity handling.
Nits: removed unused activeCompositionPath param; tightened htmlCompiler
attribute substring check.
* fix(studio): fix seek after code edit, improve scrub performance, add click-to-source
Three issues addressed:
1. **Seek breaks after code edit**: During crossfade refreshes the retiring
Player's cleanup unconditionally nulled `iframeRef.current`, clobbering the
reference the new Player had already assigned. Guard the cleanup to only
clear the ref when it still points to the retiring Player's own iframe.
2. **Scrubber/timeline drag jank**: Every pointermove during a drag called the
full seek pipeline (adapter.seek + setCurrentTime + React re-render cascade).
RAF-throttle the expensive onSeek call during drags while keeping slider and
playhead visuals updated on every pointer event for instant feedback.
3. **Click-to-source**: Clicking an element in the preview now switches to the
Code tab, opens the element's source file, and scrolls the editor to the
element's opening tag. Uses the existing `findTagByTarget` source patcher to
locate the element by id/selector in the HTML source.
* fix(studio): address PR review — gate click-to-source, fix fetch race, guard refs
- Gate click-to-source on Alt/Option+click so it doesn't steal the Code
tab on every preview click, conflicting with select-to-inspect workflow
- Fix fetch race in openSourceForSelection: AbortController cancels the
previous in-flight fetch, monotonic request ID prevents stale responses
from applying the wrong file/offset
- Guard the callback-ref branch in Player cleanup (no-op — can't read
back from a callback ref to check identity, and the path is unreachable
today since the ref is always a MutableRefObject)
- Import SidebarTab type instead of duplicating the literal inline
Setting an in or out point now turns on loopEnabled so the playhead
respects the marker instead of running past the out-point. Closes the
last open sub-bug of #834.
Background: PR #811 wired the work-area RAF loop to read inPoint/outPoint
but kept the loop branch gated behind loopEnabled. Default for that flag
is false, so users who set markers without first toggling the loop button
saw playback sail past the out-point (or, with the L shuttle, overshoot
by a few frames before pausing). The original spec for the feature in
issue #807 described markers as logic that "constrains the playback
engine"; the actual UX did not match that until the toggle was on.
Fix: setInPoint and setOutPoint flip loopEnabled to true when given a
non-null value. This sits next to the existing "smart setter" behavior
already in the store (setting one marker past the other nullifies the
counterpart). Clearing a marker with null preserves the current
loopEnabled, so a user who manually toggles the loop button stays in
control after that point.
Tests: full coverage for setInPoint and setOutPoint (none existed
before), including overlap nullification, non-finite rejection,
auto-enable on set, and preserve-on-clear in both directions.

Two surgical changes, both isolated to the catalog-previews flow:
1. `packages/studio/src/player/hooks/usePlaybackKeyboard.test.ts`
PR #842 changed `seek()` to take `(time, { keepPlaying: true })` for the
A/E shortcuts. The keyboard-layout tests added by #839 still asserted the
single-arg form. Both landed on main without cross-checking, so `main`
itself has been failing Test/Windows since. Update the two assertions
to match the new signature. Same fix Miguel already authored on
`feat/studio-preview-pasteboard-bg`.
2. `registry/components/vignette/demo.html`
The original demo captured a frame where the vignette was at its
weakest point — the effect was nearly invisible in the static preview
used by docs. Reworked the demo so:
- The backdrop is a layered "cinematic still" (warm key + teal rim +
dark falloff) and includes a centered subject ("moon"), so the
vignette has a focal point to frame.
- Vignette starts soft (size 70%, alpha 0.35) and ramps to a dramatic
cinematic vignette (size 26%, alpha 0.92) over 1.6s.
- Peak intensity holds across t≈3.0s, which is exactly where the
catalog script samples the thumbnail (`Math.min(3.0, duration*0.6)`
with duration=5).
- Breathing motion in t=3.4–5.2s gives the video loop visible life
without disturbing the still frame.
