Motion blur arrived this week, in renders and in the browser editor. Studio exports GIFs and plays heavy videos from lighter copies, and long films stay smooth in the preview. Lambda renders on arm64 by default and deploys straight from npm. v0.8.177 through v0.8.204 shipped.
## Motion blur
Fast-moving elements can now smear along their path ([8df2d8d95](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/8df2d8d95decbab22454c632e86b41c2cde4386b), [#5875](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5875)), in the preview and in the render ([1f8ead7bd](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/1f8ead7bde73a2acb9ff1c5b6327ad0153bd09b8), [#5969](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5969)). It is opt-in: add `data-motion-blur="on"` to the composition root. The **Blur** tab in the browser editor sets it with one control, Off, Subtle or Strong, and writes the same attributes a render reads ([ffc327b44](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/ffc327b44c548576bb40be2eef14bc04d7694d6f), [#6112](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6112)). The defaults match a 240 degree shutter with at least 32 samples ([79b57ab12](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/79b57ab12dfdd4e84536af7f227401f6fac24a60), [#6108](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6108)).
Blur draws in one of two ways. When every mover only slides, a cheap filter tier draws it. When anything turns or scales, it captures the frame instead ([79b57ab12](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/79b57ab12dfdd4e84536af7f227401f6fac24a60), [#6108](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6108)). Where capture cannot run, blur falls back to the filter tier rather than turning off ([4ed781338](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/4ed78133873540ca10366b1230d973dc31ae2ddf), [#6107](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6107)). `hyperframes check` says why blur is off when it is ([4371981b7](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/4371981b740d92f70e520cfbec34db68a1c93434), [#5992](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5992)). Blur stays off for HDR and distributed renders. The [motion blur guide](/guides/motion-blur) covers the attributes and tiers ([4a788583f](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/4a788583f6ffd311c0093494815faa5f08c498bd), [#6049](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6049)).
## The browser editor
Studio exports GIFs with a loop count, at up to 30 fps ([2d695a843](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/2d695a8436e27a9bba0a989eb83e41efeb779e7c), [#5593](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5593)). The preview has a seek bar ([2512642d0](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/2512642d09d3d5a4703fd2e6af71930a52e6c7ca), [#6103](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6103)). The timeline can zoom to fit the selected clips ([d787681d1](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/d787681d12e89f8adc8123e66ab9dfa37e8dc86f), [#5824](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5824)).
Heavy videos play from lighter preview copies below full quality ([38d9aeb5e](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/38d9aeb5ea1fa47a09d53c2db6df8079986b8a43), [#6365](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6365)). The preview shows how far each copy has got, retries a failed one, and remembers the quality you picked on that computer ([84fd701da](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/84fd701daaac9593e6b4a5b94116b6cc039a154a), [#6366](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6366)). Studio loads GSAP from the copy the CLI ships instead of jsDelivr ([7f19f2335](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/7f19f2335a11e72340c5ac0d99d17d656c71c34f), [#6256](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6256)). An idle editor no longer wakes the GPU four times a second ([6ad7c82d2](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/6ad7c82d2175d018a93a85e96883dc31231b9884), [#6109](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6109)).
## A smooth preview on long films
The preview mounts and draws only the scenes near the playhead ([70187a13b](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/70187a13b59118cf056f3bcdcd0c0df8f453a9f8), [#6189](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6189)). A film opens and seeks without styling every hidden scene first ([6bc0b68be](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/6bc0b68be09de915d72571bc30f8c1b4709b3c7c), [#6356](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6356)). The preview fetches only the clips due next and drops clips it has already passed ([179098936](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/179098936faaa21fd2bf74dfa80b4e705fdb3c65), [#6160](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6160)). Scrubbing a long film stays smooth ([dc56b3d20](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/dc56b3d20af2dbb550ac749b7618ea976542e257), [#6416](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6416)). Audio fades play as ramps on the audio clock, so cuts no longer click ([07a126d80](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/07a126d80fd6c0077dcce1c0a063709a1f9d1b75), [#6397](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6397)).
## Lambda on arm64
`hyperframes lambda deploy` now renders chunks on arm64 by default. Pass `--video-arch x86_64` to keep x86 ([504ec2b30](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/504ec2b307625f790a633184355c07aa3381b8f6), [#6073](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6073)). Deploy works from the npm install, with no repo checkout ([b501dc4e1](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/b501dc4e1b4c2e4273c6834c45024fb4115efc05), [#5866](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5866)), and pushes the prebuilt image without Docker ([0df088926](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/0df088926ef94fd42ff772a9990bd3d9f240749d), [#6063](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6063)). It also warms the video function, so the first render does not wait for its image ([a11280eef](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/a11280eef09305ed6517ca6c08bdc5929f38a5a2), [#6376](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6376)). `lambda render --width 3840 --height 2160` on a 1920 by 1080 composition now renders in 4K. Before, it rendered at 1080p and printed a warning ([8d773fc68](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/8d773fc68a146b6b2caecce61f6d904d3a46454d), [#6390](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6390)).
## Cloud renders
`hyperframes cloud render` uploads media of 5 MB or more as HeyGen assets instead of packing it in the project zip ([b306438e8](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/b306438e8b5e2199db1ed07e6eb4332d53131048), [#5931](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5931)). 4K renders work for transparent MOV and WebM ([25126bca6](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/25126bca6ced6cb8c839213430cde51e48261b7c), [#6045](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6045)). A cloud render plans without reading video bytes and starts its chunks sooner ([da4386f0d](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/da4386f0d06955cbdd09bce5a6e837f4c657654f), [#6194](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6194)). It mixes its audio beside the chunks ([dee8380d2](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/dee8380d2295070353aac1f98deb28c030d86572), [#5997](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5997)) and cuts each chunk by its estimated capture cost ([aae32e43e](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/aae32e43eddb39c5ac698e4ed0dc98e175c9dd26), [#6295](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6295)).
A render request can carry a time budget, `maxRenderMs`. A render that clearly cannot finish inside it stops early and says why ([7f5d6ed20](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/7f5d6ed2036f83cb2d3048e1150909a29d9b43ce), [#6224](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6224)). A render whose capture stops advancing fails within minutes ([575f68cf5](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/575f68cf5bc4789e0f2b71c16333f5ef79586156), [#6413](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6413)).
## Faster local renders
On a Mac, video frames decode on the media engine through VideoToolbox, with byte-identical output ([e51ec11ca](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/e51ec11caa457a11dcad4c1f11135e4df781c229), [#5878](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5878)). Multi-worker MP4 renders start encoding while frames are still being captured, when a core is spare ([eec3c51d7](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/eec3c51d7509365c388b4a962a7156cbb52ae62a), [#5952](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5952)). VP9 and VP8 sources without alpha extract as JPEG ([382a14d73](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/382a14d73e7ab5b77f2c118a012338364c4373b8), [#6284](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6284)). H.265 renders no longer fail on hosts with more than 16 cores ([53e1dfce9](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/53e1dfce9e6afbf1fcac26ea4adf27a66039b837), [#6193](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6193)), and any number of audio clips can be mixed ([3cdae3804](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/3cdae3804e5f155903adfce32ddf81db290c04b3), [#6120](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6120)).
## Check and the CLI
CLI commands start sooner. Heavy packages load only when a command needs them ([5583ae429](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/5583ae4293c64f21f09de7b820920963b9d51e3c), [#5930](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5930)), and registry schemas compile on first use ([d898ad89e](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/d898ad89eef52e12ebd4fd90f03c1cdb53ba143c), [#5935](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5935)). A repeat `check` starts with the CLI and Chrome already up ([434ad8c41](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/434ad8c41c6fd86b4341c52cc6e751f40474f13f), [#5943](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5943)), and check splits its samples over a second Chrome when a core and memory are spare ([952c6ba1c](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/952c6ba1c5cdef9411a7daad2b550e63010661c2), [#5896](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5896)).
`check` finishes on long projects with many video clips ([37f5f2729](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/37f5f272908d9bb0e596e902f4a45e81fc7a73b0), [#6270](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6270)). `check --prepare-media` makes the video copies and exits ([841195653](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/84119565344493e005c23c9fe29c3571a463143d), [#6104](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6104)). A check stopped by a signal prints the report it has so far ([1f740ca21](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/1f740ca21a4ab2e90116ecfcc553e87ed7241062), [#6282](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6282)), and one that hits its deadline keeps the findings it already made ([ebb057fb6](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/ebb057fb62f10e97a2d89f70eab9840394b074cf), [#6190](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6190)). New lint rules flag CSS that selects on the inline style attribute ([e003815c3](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/e003815c3073ed83907c620a37d64d1dc68ceb48), [#6261](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6261)) and scene styles that sit outside the scene's template ([ad6771c43](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/ad6771c435e6fb57c540f630820d2a1265c0c63d), [#6317](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6317)).
`hyperframes <dir>` opens that project in the desktop app ([324671829](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/324671829f40f719b445290594597086e1cd7798), [#6426](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6426)). `hyperframes audio <file> --read` turns a recording into time-stamped lines of voice, sound effects and music that an agent can read ([2c1d9d50d](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/2c1d9d50d239d48862578f574c25de216be02746), [#6056](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6056)).
## Skills and docs
The published skills go from 21 to 7. The domain skills fold into guides inside `hyperframes` and `media-use`, and the workflow skills retire ([688229314](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/688229314fb219c4317351c25483ecc3c56a519b), [#5651](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5651)). `init` never touches installed skills, and no command removes one ([0d104e6fc](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/0d104e6fca496f7d8659c9266813fc6750294635), [#6168](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6168)).
Every CLI command is documented, and CI checks that it stays that way ([1b1a576d5](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/1b1a576d52bcb0bdcef5de67a37024f2224d1a53), [#5938](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5938)). The docs gained one Troubleshooting page ([a988afa00](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/a988afa00bc5dd391dbabb82adebc795ece8d730), [#6380](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6380)), an FAQ ([a183125e9](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/a183125e97e176af628ed36826758332ad8e9d6d), [#6382](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6382)), and an Inspiration page with films and remixes to start from ([3f1950b80](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/3f1950b806e72fece41552077b491f1c8c6e8b28), [#6383](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6383)). New guides cover making videos with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor ([5bb9431a9](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/5bb9431a987f5b72b2f0a0a2e88763dfd20db904), [#6352](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/6352)). The Studio app installs on Linux from a .deb ([29643c7c8](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/commit/29643c7c8a3a4085f08f895d56c4b7cc072f2d69), [#5946](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/pull/5946)).
