Miguel Ángel 17ac986bfe fix(studio): canvas selection, drag and resize correctness (#3146)
* fix(studio): size the selection box by the transform the element actually paints under

The box around a text layer inside the playground card stopped mid-word. The
layer is 260px wide and paints 313, because its parent carries `scale(1.2)`,
and the chrome read only the element's OWN transform. The top-left looked
right, since the corners are anchored to the real bounding rect, so only the
right and bottom edges fell short, by exactly 1/1.2.

The same read decides whether to draw the box rotated at all, so an element
whose parent is rotated got an upright box over a rotated one.

The transform is now accumulated from the element up to the composition root.
Only the linear part matters: each transform's origin contributes translation,
and translation is already discarded by matching the corners to the element's
bounding rect, so composing the matrices is enough and no per-ancestor origin
has to be unpicked. The walk stops inside the composition document, because the
canvas zoom lives on the iframe in Studio's own document and is applied
separately.

The fake DOMMatrix the geometry tests use gained the `multiply` it now needs.

* fix(studio): drag by the movement the element actually makes, not the one assumed

An element that had never been dragged skipped the movement measurement and took
the canvas zoom as the whole screen mapping. Nothing above the element was
considered, so any parent transform broke the drag: a card at rotationY 180 with
scale 1.2 maps a rightward drag to -1.2x the zoom, meaning the text walked LEFT
while the overlay followed the pointer, and the overlay only snapped onto the
text at drop, when it re-measured.

Measured on the live element in that card: one unit of drag offset moved it
-0.757 px on x and +0.757 on y, where the skipped path assumed +0.631 on both.

The measurement it skipped already handles this — it moves the element, watches
where it lands, and inverts that, which is right for rotation, mirroring, scale
and perspective alike. So the special case is gone and every drag measures. Same
element after: a 120x80 pointer drag moves it 120.3x80.2.

Rewrote the test that asserted the skipped path's identity matrix for an
unmovable element. It now asserts the honest outcome: an element with no
measurable movement is reported unmeasurable whether or not it carries a path
offset, and the caller's existing fallback covers it.

* fix(studio): shift-click adds the element under the pointer, not the last one hovered

Shift-click read the hover cache and used it without checking what it described.
That cache is filled asynchronously as the pointer moves, so passing over one
element on the way to another leaves it naming the element you left. The
shift-click then added THAT element, and because the same branch prevented the
default and set the suppression flags, the mousedown path that would have
resolved the point correctly never ran. Multi-select looked like it grabbed
things at random, or like it did nothing.

Reproduced on the canvas with a trace: hover #card, shift-click #dot-b, and the
group gained #card. Same gesture after: the guard rejects the cache, the
mousedown path resolves the point, and the group gains #dot-b.

The cache is still used when it is provably about the point clicked, including
when it names a clip ancestor of the element there, so the fast path survives for
the common case of clicking straight at something.

Adds `hf-select-debug` (localStorage, off by default) recording which selection
branch ran and what it decided, and pulls the flag/format shared with
`hf-reload-debug` into one place rather than copying it.

* fix(studio): keep every element a marquee caught, not just the first

The marquee built the group correctly and then threw it away. It announced only
the primary to the timeline, and the timeline is the source of truth for what is
selected: the sync back to the canvas saw one selected id against a group of
several, decided the canvas was stale, and replaced the group with that single
element a moment after the drop. Drag a box around four things, get one.

The whole set is announced now, and the primary goes in as its anchor rather
than as a new single selection, so the set it just joined survives. This is the
same reason the single-select path already anchors with preserveSet.

A test drives applyMarqueeSelection with two elements and asserts both reach the
timeline; it fails against the old single-id announce.

* fix(studio): stop a group selection from erasing itself on the timeline

Every canvas selection is mirrored onto the timeline, and the timeline syncs
back — whatever it holds replaces the canvas selection a moment later. The
mirror announced only the primary and anchored it with preserveSet, but
preserving a set that does not contain the id empties the set, and an empty set
syncs back as "nothing is selected". Adding a second element, or re-resolving a
group after moving it, could therefore drop the whole selection rather than keep
it.

One helper now owns the mirror: publish the members, then anchor. A single
selection keeps the previous contract deliberately, so a late async primary
still cannot collapse a live group and a fresh click still collapses a stale
one. The group re-resolve path also gains the ancestor id fallback the other
callers already had — without it a member with no direct timeline row resolved
to null and deselected everything.

Two tests: a second element joining a selection, and a marquee, both assert the
full set reaches the timeline. Both fail against the announce-the-primary-only
version.

* chore(studio): trace what moves a dragged group and when

A drag that jumps is a position that changed without the pointer asking for it,
and nothing on that path says anything today, so the frame it diverges can only
be guessed at. `hf-drag-debug` (localStorage, off by default) records the whole
gesture: the mapping and start position each member got, the pointer delta
against the delta actually applied on every eighth move, what each member was
told to commit, and where they all sit at the drop, once the commit resolves, and
120/400/900ms later.

That last group is the point of it. The source write, the preview reload and the
timeline resume all land within a few frames of the drop, and any of them can put
the elements back where they started before the new position arrives — a
snap-back shows up as a settle sample reverting to the gesture-start reading.
A gap between `pointer` and `applied` instead means snapping pulled the group off
the cursor, which is a different fault with a different fix.

* chore(studio): name the path that clears a selection after a group move

The drag trace showed the group landing exactly where it was dropped and staying
there — no snap-back at any settle sample, and the pointer and the applied delta
never more than 2px apart — but two milliseconds after the drop the selection was
cleared with seven members still in it.

The clear comes from the timeline sync deciding the timeline holds nothing, and
that branch said nothing. It says so now, along with whether it is about to act
on it. The mirror alongside it reports how many members it managed to publish and
whether the anchor was among them, because a member with no timeline row of its
own resolves to null and is dropped silently — publish none and the sync reads it
back as an empty selection.

* fix(studio): losing one member of a group no longer deselects all of it

After a move the preview re-syncs and the selection is re-resolved against the
new document. When the primary could not be found there, both re-resolve paths
cleared the entire selection — so a group of five, all still on screen, was
deselected because one of them failed to resolve. The trace showed the clear
landing 600ms after the drop with five members still held, and the timeline sync
running afterwards on an already-empty canvas, which ruled it out as the cause.

A live group now re-resolves as a group and keeps whoever survived, picking a new
primary from them; it only clears when nobody did. That is what
refreshDomEditGroupSelectionsFromPreview was written for — it existed and was
never called.

Both clears also say which one they are and how many members were held, so if
this is not the last of it the next trace names the path immediately.

* feat(studio): carry a multi-selection in the URL, and name the member that breaks away

A link to a bug hit with several elements selected only reproduced one of them,
so the report read as "works for me". The hash now carries the rest as selGroup
and reopens the whole selection; members whose element is gone are dropped rather
than failing the others. Verified end to end in a real browser: select three,
copy the hash, open it fresh, the same three come back.

The drag trace also gains a rigidity check. A group moves as one object, so every
member travels the same distance; one that does not IS the fault. Drift was being
computed but only printed on every eighth frame, which is exactly how a
single-frame divergence hides — it now prints on the frame it happens.

The frame handler moves to its own module on the way past. It had grown a snap
block and a trace block inside a function already juggling four gesture kinds,
and it was over both the complexity and file-size gates.

Not fixed: the jump itself. Two headful runs driving a real group drag showed the
members staying rigid to the pixel, at the drop and 900ms after, so I have not
reproduced it yet and will not guess at a fix.

* fix(studio): stop snapping from moving a selection you have not dragged yet

Your log caught it on the first frame of the drag: pointer "0,0", applied "4,-3",
and all four members jumped 12,-8 composition px before the pointer had moved at
all. An element resting within the 6px snap threshold of a guide is already
snappable, so the snap computed on frame one closes that gap immediately —
picking the selection up moves it.

Snapping now sits out until the gesture has travelled the same 4px a drag needs
to count as a drag rather than a click, on both the group and single-element
paths. Nothing below that distance moves anything, and a real drag snaps exactly
as before.

The test builds a box resting 4px from a guide and asserts the ungated call still
returns dx 4 — the very displacement from your log — while the gated one returns
0 for a pointer that has not moved.

* fix(studio): a dropped group stays selected

Your Jam confirmed the first-frame jump is gone — pointer "0,0" now reads
applied "0,0" — and caught what was left: two milliseconds after each drop, a
`[hf-select] clear` with the group still holding three, then four members.

Every pointerup trails a click. The group gesture ref is cleared before the
commit runs, so by the time that click arrives the box no longer looks busy and
it reaches the canvas as an ordinary click — landing in the gap between the
members, resolving to nothing, and clearing the selection the drag just moved.
The under-threshold path already ate that click; the committed path never did.

The flag is now set before the two paths diverge, so neither can forget it. The
test drives a real pointerup through the handlers and fails on the committed
path with the flag moved back down.

* feat(studio): marquee from anywhere on the canvas, including outside the frame

An element dragged past the edge sits out in the grey, and the rubber band
refused to start there — it only began when the press landed inside the
composition rect. The one gesture that could reach those elements could not be
begun near them, so the timeline was the only way to select something plainly
visible on screen.

The collecting half never had that limit: it compares rects in overlay space and
never clipped to the frame, so those elements have always been selectable once
the band could begin. Only the start gate had to go.

A press in the grey that never travels still commits an empty selection, which is
the deselect it used to be, so the old behaviour of clicking out there to clear
is unchanged.

* refactor(studio): keep the selection files under the size cap

The selection work above pushed four files past the 600-line gate. Same
split the branch made later, landed with the changes that caused it.

* fix(studio): preserve selector groups in share URLs

Dragging several elements at once and dropping them made one of them snap
back to where it started for a frame or two, then jump forward again.

Each member of the group is written separately, and every write patched the
live GSAP tween in place and then seeked the player. A seek re-renders the
WHOLE timeline, not the tween that changed, so the members still queued
behind that write got repainted from their un-patched tweens: back to their
pre-drag position, where they sat until their own write landed. Only members
whose tween actually renders at the playhead showed it, which is why a group
of three flashed one element and left the others still.

The group commit now defers the seek for every member but the last, so the
queued members keep the transform the gesture left on them and the whole
group repaints once, from the fully patched timeline.

* perf(studio): commit a group drag in one request

Dragging N elements cost N writes and 9 reads for a three-element group: each
member fetched the composition's parse to preflight, fetched it again to
resolve its tween, then wrote the file on its own round trip. Every one of
those writes re-read, re-parsed and re-serialized the whole composition.

Three changes, same behaviour:

- The parse endpoint shares an in-flight request per file, so callers asking
  for the same composition at the same moment get one request. Only
  overlapping calls share — the entry is dropped as soon as it settles, so a
  read after a write still gets a fresh parse.
- The group preflight runs its members together instead of one at a time. A
  preflight writes nothing, so there is nothing to order.
- Members' mutations are queued and sent as one batch write. Anything that
  re-reads the file flushes the queue first, so a member resolving a shared or
  stale tween never reads a composition missing writes it is about to build
  on. The batch carries each member's runtime patch, and only the last one
  re-renders.

A three-element group drag now issues 2 reads and 1 write, down from 9 and 3.

* fix(studio): harden batched drag commits

* fix(studio): carry deferred preview fallbacks

* chore(studio): name whoever puts the pre-resize size back

Resizing the card commits correctly — the source and a fresh load both read
273x181 — but 200ms after the drop, mid-commit, the element renders at 395x261
with the studio size vars still holding 273x181. Something writes the
pre-gesture size back inline while the reload is still in flight, and every
writer of that size was silent.

Both are traced now under the existing hf-resize-debug flag, each with the size
going in, the size being replaced, and a short stack. Restoring the pre-gesture
size is right on a cancel and wrong after a successful commit, and the function
doing it cannot tell the two apart from the inside — so the caller has to be
named before this can be fixed at the right end.

* fix(studio): hold a resized element's size while the timeline is rebuilt

Your log caught it across two resizes. The first commits 305x202 and the element
is 305x202 at the drop; 200ms later it renders 395x261, its stylesheet size,
while --hf-studio-width still reads 305. The second gesture then starts with
`actual` at 305 against a live box of 395, and its very first move — a pointer
delta of 0.1px — snaps the element back to 305. That snap is the jump.

The gap belongs to the soft reload: it reverts the old timeline before building
the new one, and GSAP hands back each tween's recorded starting width on the way
out. Nothing held the size in between, because the seek reapply that exists for
exactly this stands aside for elements GSAP animates.

Standing aside is right for the offset — those channels compose, and applying
both doubles the move — and wrong for size, where both channels write width and
height so the later write simply wins on the same committed number. It applies
now. Only an element mid-edit carries the vars, so nothing else is touched.

A test seeks an element whose size GSAP owns after the revert put the stylesheet
size back, and fails with the skip restored.

* fix(studio): rotate the child outlines with the element they outline

Selecting a rotated element drew upright dashed boxes across its children:
the chrome co-rotated with the element and the child outlines did not, so a
text layer inside a rotated card got a square outline lying across the
rotated glyphs.

The chrome already measures an oriented box; the child outlines were still
measured axis-aligned. They now use the same oriented measurement and render
with the same rotation. An unrotated element measures identically to before,
since the oriented rect returns the plain bounding box at angle 0.

* feat(studio): mirror canvas z-order actions into timeline lanes, badge z overrides

Track order = default paint order; authored z = advanced override.

- timelineZMirror.ts: pure resolver mapping a successful z-menu action to a
  timeline lane move — closest track in the action's direction that is free
  over the clip's whole span, else a new lane adjacent to the crossed
  neighbor; temporal-overlap scope (default pending product sign-off, see
  module doc); visual zone only; same-file reference scoping; persistTrack
  via the shared authored-space rules. null for non-clips (menu stays
  z-only) and at-extreme/no-overlap cases.
- useCanvasZOrderTimelineMirror.ts: after the z commit resolves, the mirror
  persists the lane move through the same machinery as a timeline lane drag
  (optimistic store update, authoredTrack refresh, rollback); inserts reuse
  commitTrackInsert's renumber via a shared buildTrackInsertEdits core. Both
  writes share one coalesce key (zReorderCoalesceKey) and fold into ONE undo
  entry (test proves it over the real history reducer). The mirror never
  triggers the lane->z stacking sync, so it cannot fight the z values the
  action just set.
- timelineZOverride.ts + TimelineClip badge: clips whose paint order
  contradicts lane order among temporally-overlapping same-context visual
  neighbors (laneIsAbove XOR paintsAbove, the stacking-sync predicates) show
  a 'z' badge — authored z overrides are surfaced instead of silently
  disagreeing with the timeline.
- Timeline.tsx track derivations extracted to useTimelineTrackDerivations
  (600-line cap).

* fix(studio): fold mirrored z-order gestures into one undo entry across slow persists

Live verification caught the z write and the mirrored lane write splitting
into two undo entries: the mirror runs after the z persist's server round
trip, which exceeds editHistory's default 300ms coalesce window under real
latency (the unit test's deterministic clock sat inside it).

zReorderCoalesceKey now mints a per-gesture-unique key (monotonic seq, the
laneChangeGestureSeq precedent) and both records carry coalesceMs Infinity —
distinct gestures can never merge, and one gesture always folds regardless
of write latency. coalesceMs threaded through the persist chain alongside
coalesceKey. Also hardens the existing lane-drag move->z fold, which had the
same latent split. Fold test now simulates a 400ms gap (failed before the
fix, passes after); a two-separate-gestures test asserts two entries.

* feat(studio): flashless lane mirror, z-order menu icons, close-gap track menu

- Track-only batch moves (the z-mirror's lane hop and the insert renumber)
  skip the GSAP fallback round-trip and the preview reload entirely — the
  renderer never reads data-track-index, and the live DOM patch + optimistic
  store update cover the UI. Mixed batches keep current behavior. Kills the
  canvas blink on mirrored Bring/Send actions (live-verified: an
  iframe-scoped marker survives the whole gesture).
- The four z-order menu items get 16px stroke icons (single layer diamond +
  directional arrow for Forward/Backward; pierced two-layer stack for
  Front/Back); labels unchanged — they are the industry-standard names.
- New track context menu on empty lane space: 'Close gap' (shifts the next
  clip and every clip after it on that lane left by the clicked gap's width;
  leading gaps count, so a single clip with empty space before it compacts
  to 0) and 'Close all gaps' (whole lane contiguous from 0). Pure gap math
  in timelineGaps.ts; persists through the drag path's atomic batch move
  (one undo per action); refuses when a clip that must shift is locked;
  items disable when there is nothing to close.

* fix(studio): rebind-only preview sync for unmutated timing edits, classical z-menu order

Timing edits that rewrote NO GSAP positions (gap closes and moves of
selector-addressed caption clips, zero-delta batches, comps without a
rewritable script) full-reloaded the preview — and the rerun-current-scripts
attempt was wrong for real compositions: re-executing init-style scripts
(three.js scenes, caption engines) is exactly the unsafe case, verified live
by doubled init warnings and a fallback reload anyway.

The correct observation: when mutated === false the existing __timelines are
still valid — only the runtime's clip visibility windows are stale, and the
live DOM timing attributes were already patched. So the no-mutation path now
runs applySoftReloadFinalization only (seek + __hfForceTimelineRebind +
manual-edits reapply), extracted from the soft-reload machinery — zero
script execution. This also un-blinks comps with no GSAP script at all,
which previously always remounted. Rewritten-script soft reloads,
cannot-soft-reload, otherFileChanged, and mutation failures keep their
existing behavior. gsapSoftReload's undo/redo restore section moved verbatim
to gsapUndoRestore.ts for the 600-line cap.

Also: z-order menu items reordered to the classical arrangement (Bring to
Front, Bring Forward, Send Backward, Send to Back).

Live-verified on a three.js-heavy composition: Close-all-gaps shifted 4
caption clips with correct cumulative amounts, the preview iframe was never
remounted (marker survived), and one undo reverted everything.

* fix(studio): bound forward/backward mirror to a one-element step

User-specified semantic: Bring Forward / Send Backward move the clip past
EXACTLY ONE element. The mirror's lane target is now bounded by the next
temporally-overlapping element beyond the crossed neighbor: a free lane
strictly between the two is taken (closest to the neighbor), and when they
are back-to-back a new track is inserted immediately beyond the crossed
element — never past the second one. Previously the resolver took the
closest free lane anywhere beyond the neighbor, which could carry the track
past a second element while the z action only stepped past one — a
track/paint contradiction our own zOverride badge would flag. Front/back
keep whole-set semantics (past everything; back stays above the audio
zone). End-to-end test pins the 3-stacked case through commitZMirrorLaneMove
to the persisted renumbered tracks.

* feat(studio): permanent gap-menu rows with hover and click-select gap highlights

- TrackGapContextMenu always renders both rows; an inapplicable action dims
  with a tooltip ("No gap here" / lock reason / "No gaps on this track")
  instead of vanishing into a one-item menu. Width badge only when a gap
  exists under the pointer.
- Hovering an ACTIONABLE row highlights the strip(s) it would close in the
  timeline: the single gap for Close gap, every current gap (leading included)
  for Close all gaps. New resolveAllGapIntervals in timelineGaps.ts reports
  present-state intervals (epsilon-tolerant, overlap-safe), distinct from
  resolveAllTrackGaps' post-compaction starts.
- Click-selecting a single clip paints a quieter tint over its lane's gaps
  (suppressed for marquee multi-selection and during drags; the gap-menu hover
  wins on its own lane). Derivation lives in useTimelineGapHighlights with the
  pure buildTimelineGapStrips exported and unit-tested.
- Strips render in TimelineCanvas with the drop-placeholder geometry (row top
  + clip inset), dashed accent for hover, faint tint for selection.
- Timeline.tsx stayed under the 600-line cap by extracting the scroll-viewport
  plumbing (ResizeObserver width + shortcut-hint sync) into
  useTimelineScrollViewport, behavior unchanged.

* feat(studio): stronger capcut-style timeline zoom steps

One button press / pinch gesture now moves the zoom meaningfully: step
factors 1.25x/0.8x -> 1.5x/(2/3) (kept reciprocal so in+out round-trips) and
pinch sensitivity 0.0035 -> 0.007. Addresses "zooming several times to get
anywhere" feedback; cursor anchoring unchanged.

* feat(studio): three-way z sync — layers drags mirror timeline lanes, panel tracks live z edits

Completes the layers/canvas/timeline sync triangle: the Layers panel was the
one surface whose reorders never reached the timeline, and the one that went
stale when the other two wrote z flashlessly.

- Layers drag -> minimal z + equal-jump lane mirror. handleReorder now uses
  the canvas menu's realization core via resolveZOrderReposition (one
  between-z write when a strict gap exists, band-safe scoped renumber
  otherwise) instead of computeReorderZValues' all-sibling stamp — that
  helper is deleted, completing the #2347 unification follow-up. The drop
  then mirrors into a timeline lane move through the same machinery as the
  canvas menu (new resolveRepositionLaneMove: the clip lands on a free lane
  strictly between its NEW paint neighbors' lanes — nearest clip siblings in
  the desired render order, decorations skipped — else a track insert at
  that boundary; audio zone never crossed). Both writes share one
  per-gesture zReorderCoalesceKey with an unbounded fold window, so a drag
  is exactly ONE undo entry; useCanvasZOrderTimelineMirror's plumbing is
  factored into useMirrorLaneMoveCommit and reused by the new
  useLayerReorderTimelineMirror. A same-slot drop is a hard no-op (new
  order-equality guard in resolveZOrderReposition).
- Panel staleness fix: flashless z commits (skipReload) reload nothing and
  bump no refreshKey, so the panel's z-sorted order went stale while paused.
  handleDomZIndexReorderCommit now bumps a store zEditVersion on apply AND
  rollback; the panel re-collects on it. Verified live: the panel re-sorts
  the instant a drag commits and again on undo.
- Layer click reveal (useLayerRevealOverride): clicking a layer that stays
  hidden at the current frame (animation-parked opacity, non-clip
  display/visibility hides, hidden ancestors) temporarily forces the chain
  visible with live inline styles — exact priors restored on deselect, on
  another reveal, on play, and on unmount; never persisted (file diff == 0
  verified live). Clips keep the existing seek-into-window behavior; the
  override applies on a short defer so a seek-revealed clip needs none.
- layerOrdering's unused hasExplicitZIndex probe (zero callers) removed.

Live-verified on a bed copy: a 2-position layers drag wrote exactly one
element (z 6->23 + data-track-index 15->2), the timeline lane moved without
a reload, and a single Cmd+Z restored the file byte-identically.

* feat(studio): full-track selection highlight, borderless gap hover strips

- Click-selecting a clip now lights the WHOLE lane minus its clips — leading
  gap, inter-clip gaps, and the open space after the last clip to the rendered
  end (new resolveLaneEmptyIntervals; displayDuration threaded into the strip
  derivation). Still click-only: any drag/resize suppresses the strips, and a
  marquee multi-select never shows them.
- The gap-menu hover strips drop the dashed border (user feedback) — fill only,
  nudged to 0.18 alpha to keep the same visual weight.

* feat(studio): selected layer paints on top via a reader-transparent z lift

Clicking a layer in the Layers tab now shows the element as if it were at the
very top of the stack while selected — whatever its authored z or panel
position — extending the reveal override (which already forced hidden chains
visible) with a temporary inline z lift:

- liftElementToTop parks the TRUE effective z in data-hf-reveal-prior-z and
  writes a far-top inline z; a static element gets a layout-preserving
  position:relative with its prior parked in data-hf-reveal-prior-pos. Only
  the RENDERER sees the lift: all three studio z readers
  (readTimelineElementZIndex, getElementZIndex, readEffectiveZIndex) return
  the parked prior while the attribute is present, so the canvas z-menu, the
  zOverride badge, the lane mirror, the stacking sync, and the panel sort
  keep reasoning on the element's real z.
- Strictly ephemeral: exact priors restored on deselect / another reveal /
  play / unmount, each property only while it still holds the value the
  override wrote (a later real edit is never clobbered). File diff == 0
  verified live across a full lift/restore cycle.
- A z-reorder commit CONSUMES an active lift (handleDomZIndexReorderCommit
  reads the parked position for its persist-position:relative static check,
  then drops the attributes) — the committed z becomes the truth and the
  later restore is a guarded no-op.

* fix(studio): flashless undo/redo — three full-reload causes in the soft-restore path

Cmd+Z blinked the canvas on essentially every undo. Three independent causes
in applyUndoRestoreToPreview, each sufficient on its own:

1. Master-view path gate: activeCompPath is NULL at the master view, so the
   'paths[0] === activeCompPath' eligibility check could never match the
   index.html restore and every default-view undo full-reloaded at the first
   gate. Normalized to the codebase-wide 'activeCompPath ?? "index.html"'.
2. Nested identity innerHTML check: the diff compared each identified
   element's innerHTML, but the composition root wraps every clip — any child
   change re-detected at the root rejected the restore. Change detection now
   compares only each element's OWN attribute surface; structure/text
   integrity is still guaranteed by the normalize-residual whole-doc pass
   (text nodes, added/removed elements, and un-identified attrs all remain
   after normalization and force the full reload).
3. id-only identity: elements addressed by data-hf-id / selector (no DOM id)
   fell outside the diff entirely. Identity is now id OR data-hf-id, with the
   live sync resolving either.

Also stop re-running an UNCHANGED GSAP script: attribute-only restores (z,
lane, timing, style — the overwhelmingly common undo) now use the rebind-only
finalization (seek + __hfForceTimelineRebind + manual reapply, zero script
execution — the same path as flashless timing edits), instead of tearing down
and rebuilding live timelines or full-reloading when the script can't be
scoped. A restore whose script text genuinely changed still re-runs it via
applySoftReload, and structural restores (split/delete) still full-reload.

Live-verified on the bed (iframe marker): gap-close undo AND redo both keep
the iframe mounted, live DOM lands on the restored values, disk restored
byte-identically.

* feat(studio): left breathing pad before t=0, double zoom sensitivity again

TRACKS_LEFT_PAD (48px) — the horizontal sibling of TRACKS_TOP_PAD: empty lane
surface between the sticky gutter and the ruler's 00:00 / the first clips,
scrolling WITH the content.

- The lanes and the ruler realize it as a plain flow spacer between the
  sticky gutter cell and the time-mapped content div, so every
  content-relative computation (clip left = t*pps, beat lines, lane-menu
  time, clip drag deltas) is untouched by construction.
- Canvas-space overlays shift by the pad: playhead (getTimelinePlayheadLeft),
  gap strips, drop placeholder, snap guide, range highlight, marquee clip
  rects, beat SVG; the insert line spans the pad.
- Every pointer->time inverse subtracts it symmetrically: seekFromX, razor,
  range/marquee anchors, asset drops, and the zoom-anchor gutter basis; fit
  pps and the display width account for the consumed viewport width.
- Live-verified: t=0 clip edge, the 00:00 tick, and the playhead line center
  all sit at GUTTER + TRACKS_LEFT_PAD, and a ruler click lands the playhead
  center exactly under the pointer.

Also doubles the timeline zoom sensitivity again (user feedback after
feel-testing the first bump): button steps 1.5x/(2/3) -> 2x/0.5, pinch
0.007 -> 0.014.

* fix(studio): left pad renders as true empty space, not lane surface

The pad before t=0 inherited each row's background and bottom border from the
row wrapper, so it read as track lanes. Lane visuals now live on the cells:
the sticky gutter keeps its own separator (header column stays delineated),
the time-mapped content div carries the row background + separator, and the
pad spacer stays transparent — bare shell background, no lines. The
new-track insertion line also starts at the pad's end instead of crossing it.

* fix(studio): no vertical line in the ruler band before 00:00

The ruler corner's right border drew the header-boundary line through the
ruler strip, so the band didn't read as starting at 00:00. Dropped it — the
boundary line belongs to the track rows below; the ruler stays completely
clean from the panel edge to the first tick, matching the empty left pad.

* refactor(studio): remove the timeline z-override badge

User decision: the "z" chip on clips never earned its place — dropped
entirely (timelineZOverride.ts + test deleted, TimelineClip badge rendering
and the zOverrideKeys derivation/threading removed). This also eliminates the
review's D2 finding at the root: the badge's cross-document comparison
(stackingContextId ?? null collides across source files in the expanded view)
produced false positives, and there is no longer a detector to mis-fire.
overlapsInTime/paintsAbove lose their export (the badge was their only
external consumer); the paint-order predicate itself is unchanged.

* fix(studio): collision-free expanded child lanes and host-window gap floors

Review findings D1 (blocker) and 4.

- D1: buildChildElements assigned expanded children synthetic display rows as
  `host.track + index` — integers that can EQUAL a real clip's lane in another
  file (host on 0 with two children puts child #2 on 1). Lane grouping merges
  purely by track number, so the collision fused clips from different source
  files into one display lane, and lane-scoped actions (the gap menu) then
  batch-persisted a foreign file's clip. Children now take FRACTIONS strictly
  between the host's lane and the next integer — structurally unable to
  collide with any normalized lane, while still rendering as ordered rows
  under the host. Regression test pins the reviewer's exact two-file scenario.
- Finding 4: gap math compacted toward absolute 0, but an expanded child's
  display time is host-anchored — close/compact could drag it before its host
  window and persist a wrong (even negative) local time. All gap functions
  now take a lane FLOOR (laneGapFloor: 0 for ordinary lanes, the children's
  expandedParentStart for child lanes — single-origin per lane post-D1),
  threaded through the menu model, hover highlights, selected-lane strips,
  and both commits. Close-gap shifts clamp at the gap's own left edge.

* fix(studio): scope mirror references, insert writes, and crossed-neighbor identity

Review findings 1, 2, and 3.

- Finding 1: buildTrackInsertEdits normalized the FULL display set and
  persisted every shifted clip — writing host-lane numbers into OTHER
  composition files when expanded children were showing. The renumber write
  set is now the edited element's own source file (the sanctioned multi-write
  converges one FILE to lane space, never neighbors' files); foreign clips
  keep their authored tracks and re-derive display lanes. The locked-clip
  refusal scopes the same way. Expanded-origin elements refuse the insert
  outright (a new lane is a host-space renumber, meaningless in the child's
  file), and the mirrors restrict an expanded child's lane candidates to its
  own siblings' lanes — a sub-comp child still mirrors WITHIN its sub-comp
  (persisting the sibling's authored track) but can never land on a host lane
  with no same-file occupant. authoredTrackForLane's offset fallback rounds:
  fractional synthetic rows must never leak fractions into data-track-index.
- Finding 2: the mirror comparison sets required only sameSourceFile, but a
  file can contain several CSS stacking contexts and leaf z is only
  comparable within one. Both resolvers now scope by samePaintScope — same
  source file AND same stackingContextId (the file check also stops null root
  contexts of different files from comparing equal in the expanded view).
- Finding 3: the crossed-neighbor key was derived without selectorIndex, so
  duplicate class selectors (.sub) resolved to occurrence 0 — a different
  clip. The key now carries getSelectorIndex, matching how z-reorder entries
  derive theirs.

* fix(studio): z-to-lane gestures are one serialized transaction gated on durable persists

Review findings 5 and 7.

- Finding 5: commitDomEditPatchBatches resolved successfully even when the
  server matched NO patch target — the z write never reached disk (the
  preview reloads to reconverge) yet the lane mirror still ran, desyncing
  track order from what actually paints. The commit now resolves a durability
  report ({allMatched, changed}; the save queue and commit types are generic
  over the result), and the mirror phase is skipped on allMatched === false.
- Finding 7: the z persist rides the DOM-edit save queue while the lane move
  rides the timeline/SDK path — two queues, so a second rapid gesture's z
  write could land BETWEEN the first gesture's z and lane phases. Every
  z-to-lane gesture (canvas z-order menu AND Layers-panel drag) now runs
  through runZLaneGesture: a single module-level tail that serializes the
  COMPLETE two-phase transaction, with unit tests for ordering, the
  durability gate, and queue resilience to failed gestures. The timeline
  lane-drag's inverse (move-then-z-sync) shares its phases' await ordering
  already; cross-gesture serialization for that path is noted as follow-up.
- LayersPanel's pure sort helpers moved to layersPanelSort.ts (600-line cap).

* fix(studio): multi-clip GSAP batch mutations roll back on late failure

Review finding 6. finishGroupTimingGsapFallback mutates files sequentially
per clip; a late per-clip failure left the earlier rewrites on disk with no
aggregate history entry — unreachable by undo. foldGsapMutationIntoHistory
already snapshots every touched path before mutating; on a mutation failure
it now restores each path whose disk content changed (all-or-nothing batch),
reports restore errors without masking the original failure, and rethrows.
Regression test drives a two-clip batch whose second rewrite fails and
asserts the first clip's write is restored byte-identically.

ukimsanov 760b88a6f3 fix(studio): flashless z-order commits and visible-overlap stepping
Two legibility fixes for the canvas z-order menu, from user feel-testing:

- z-only commits no longer remount the preview iframe. The commit hook
  already applies the inline z (+ injected position) to the live elements and
  updates the store synchronously; the post-commit reloadPreview() was a
  redundant full remount that read as a canvas 'blink' on every action.
  commitDomEditPatchBatches gains skipReload, engaged only when provably
  safe: every op is an inline-style patch AND the server reports every patch
  matched — anything else falls back to the reload so the preview reconverges
  with disk. The file-watcher's own reload stays suppressed by the existing
  domEditSaveTimestampRef window, so the skip is real.
- Bring Forward / Send Backward step over the next VISIBLY overlapping
  sibling. The nearest z-neighbor in a composition is often invisible at the
  current frame (runtime hides time-inactive clips with inline
  visibility/display; GSAP parks elements at opacity 0), so the step crossed
  something the user couldn't see — 'enabled but nothing happens'. The
  forward/backward set now filters on element-level computed visibility
  (display/visibility/opacity, injectable for tests); enable/disable shares
  the resolver so the menu is honest: actions disable when no visible
  neighbor exists. Front/back keep the full painting family.
- The neighbor that was stepped over gets a 600ms accent flash, drawn in the
  studio overlay layer (never in the iframe DOM), so the action shows its
  work.

ukimsanov 84963ea8ba fix(studio): persist canvas z-order actions correctly for static elements
An adversarial review of the canvas context-menu z-order pipeline (Bring to
Front / Forward / Backward / Send to Back) found the resolver math sound but
the glue between the menu and the commit hook broken:

- The menu optimistically wrote style.zIndex AND position: relative to the
  live elements BEFORE the commit hook ran. The hook decides whether to
  persist position by checking getComputedStyle(el).position === 'static' —
  always false after the pre-apply — so the position patch was never
  persisted on the menu path and the reorder silently reverted at the
  post-commit reload for any nested/static element (root clips survive only
  because the runtime forces position:absolute). The same pre-apply made the
  failure rollback capture the already-mutated values, restoring the broken
  state on persist errors. The menu no longer pre-applies; the hook owns the
  live writes (it already applied both synchronously) and now sees true
  priors. Siblings without a persistable identity still get their z applied
  live-only so a renumber stays visually coherent.
- The commit hook's entry.key store-sync plumbing had zero production
  callers; the store zIndex went stale until full reload. All three callers
  (canvas menu via PreviewOverlays, timeline lane z-sync, LayersPanel) now
  derive and pass the timeline store key (new deriveTimelineStoreKey helper).
- patchElementBatch discarded the server's per-patch matched[]; unresolvable
  siblings persisted partially and silently. Unmatched targets now warn and
  report save-failure telemetry (z-reorder-unmatched) without rolling back
  the matched subset.
- template/noscript elements counted as painting siblings, so renumber
  fallbacks wrote z-index/position into <template> tags in the source file.
  Excluded from the sibling family.
- The default undo coalesce key merged DISTINCT z actions within 300ms into
  one undo entry; the action kind is now part of the key (LayersPanel drags
  keep coalescing within a drag; explicit lane-move gesture keys untouched).
- rectsIntersect comment claimed touching rects intersect; the strict
  inequalities say otherwise — comment fixed.

What: extends 21 glue files so the OLD timeline/canvas engine and the NEW

zoom pin, snap toggle, non-reactive scale scratch), drag-state types gain
optional NLE fields, timelineLayout/timelineAssetDrop/timelineEditingHelpers/
timelineEditing/timelineElementHelpers/studioHelpers/assetHelpers gain the
NLE exports, DomEditOverlay + gestures + AssetContextMenu + Timeline props
gain optional callbacks/params, contexts gain *Optional hooks, and
TimelineEditCallbacks.onMoveElements becomes a bivariant method accepting
both engines' change shapes. patchDocumentRootDuration's test rides along.

Why: this is the keystone that dissolves the old "welded glue" problem —
every symbol the NLE components need is ADDED next to what the old engine
still uses, so the engine components and the swaps can land as separate
reviewable PRs.

How: 15 authored intermediate files (main content + additive symbols; no
behavior changes — new fields optional, new callbacks unused until wired)
plus 6 files whose final content is already purely additive. New exports
without consumers yet carry TEMP(studio-dnd) ignoreExports entries, removed
by the app-shell swap.

Test plan: tsc --noEmit in studio + studio-server (verifies BOTH engines
compile); bunx vitest run (full suite green incl. the 6 new
patchDocumentRootDuration tests); fallow audit clean.

* feat(studio): timeline interaction hooks and lanes component (unwired)

What: the timeline-side wiring layer, unwired: TimelineLanes (the lane
renderer driving drag/resize/marquee), timelineMarquee (+tests),
useTimelineStackingSync, useTimelineGeometry, useTimelineEditPinning,
useTimelineEditingDrops.

Why: everything between the pure drag math and <Timeline> itself; the
timeline-glue swap PR then only rewires Timeline/TimelineCanvas onto these.

How: new files, tsc-clean against the coexistence layer. Unwired components
carry TEMP(studio-dnd) entry registrations, removed at the app-shell swap.

Why: the shell that App swaps to in the final step; reviewing it standalone

Instant holds (to()/fromTo() with duration 0) were classified as animated
tweens by every commit route, so resizing or rotating them converted the
hold into a corrupt duration-0 keyframes tween (new value at 0%, old at
100%) that GSAP drops; panel edits appended a losing set. A shared
isInstantHold() now routes them through the static replace-in-place path,
and percentage math guards zero-duration windows.

Separately, anchored-corner resizes painted 3-5 frames at the new size but
old position while the offset persist round-tripped the server. The commit
path now applies the corrected GSAP position synchronously before awaiting
the offset persist, mirroring the scale route's settle.

* feat(studio): gesture-transaction seam with commit observability

Introduce runGestureTransaction — one owner for a gesture commit's
settle -> persist -> record lifecycle. It settles the live DOM
synchronously before any async persist, folds every mutation into one
undo entry via a per-transaction coalesceKey, restores pre-gesture state
exactly once on failure, and asserts (dev console) + reports (PostHog:
commit_transaction / commit_invariant_violation / commit_transaction_failed)
that a persist never changes pixels. The box-size resize path is migrated
onto it; the ad hoc per-route coalesceKey/reload handling is removed.

Extract the resize draft-rect math into resizeDraft.ts to keep the
gesture-handler file under the size cap.

Also: keep url_hash telemetry to the route slug only (drop the query
string, which carried the user's selected element id/selector), and gate
the [hf-resize] diagnostics behind localStorage hf-resize-debug so they
ship as opt-in tracing rather than console noise.

* fix(studio): transaction owns the undo label

The coalesced history entry took the last sub-mutation's label, so a
resize surfaced as "Move layer" (the offset persist) in undo/redo. The
seam now stamps tx.label on every wrapped mutation, so the folded entry
reads as the gesture.

* fix(studio): atomic static size/position commits (no data loss)

Static resize/position holds updated an existing set via delete+add — two
undo entries, and a delete that succeeded before a failed add lost the
hold on disk. Use one in-place update-properties mutation when a set
exists (one undo entry, no partial-failure window). The keyframed-hold
heal that can't be expressed as a property update now adds before it
deletes, so any single failure leaves a recoverable duplicate, never a
lost hold. Transaction-owned commits are tracked via a WeakSet so the
heal path never double-wraps an already-wrapped gesture.

* fix(core): restore timed-clip visibility after a forced timeline rebind

__hfForceTimelineRebind force-rendered the re-registered timeline but never
re-ran the per-[data-start] visibility pass, so after undo or soft reload
every clip rendered regardless of its time window until a full page reload.
Extract the visibility loop into syncTimedElementVisibility and call it from
both syncMediaForCurrentState (unchanged) and the rebind.

* fix(studio): atomic z-order/keyframe/split commits, one undo entry each

Three edit-commit paths hardened onto the one-transaction invariant:

- Z-order reorder (useElementLifecycleOps): N per-element writes now fold
  into one undo entry (coalesceMs Infinity) and, on a failed persist,
  restore already-written files to disk so no partial reorder survives.
- Enable-keyframes (useEnableKeyframes/useGsapKeyframeOps): the intermediate
  convert phase no longer full-reloads the preview (skipReload), killing the
  black-flash remount; convert + edit share one coalesce key = one undo entry.
- Razor split-all (useRazorSplit): snapshot before the batch and restore on
  any failure, so a mid-batch error never leaves un-revertable partial splits.

Shared file-history helpers (RecordEditInput, DomEditCommitBaseParams,
readProjectFileContent, restoreFilesToOriginal) dedupe the rollback/commit
logic across these paths. Commit options thread as one partial object rather
than field-by-field. Test setup extracted into colocated helpers.

* fix(studio): fold multi-step edits into one undo entry; guard text revert

- Gesture recording (useGestureCommit): the per-property-group commits now
  share one coalesce key and only the last reloads, so a recording is one
  undo entry and one preview reload instead of up to four.
- Delete selected keyframes (deleteSelectedKeyframes, split out of
  timelineEditingHelpers): N removals fold into one coalesced undo entry
  with a single reload.
- Text-field commit (useDomEditTextCommits): commitDomTextFields now uses
  the same version-guarded revert as handleDomTextCommit, so a stale failed
  commit can no longer stomp a newer successful one.

* feat(studio): batch a gesture's mutations into one atomic server write

A transaction that emits N mutations previously did N sequential POSTs,
each rewriting the file and soft-reloading — the root of the multi-phase
persist window. Add a gsap-mutations-batch endpoint that validates every
mutation up front, applies them in one in-memory rewrite chain, and writes
the file once (all-or-nothing: an invalid entry rejects the whole batch,
no partial write). The seam buffers a transaction's commits and, when more
than one targets the same file, dispatches a single batch — one write, one
history entry, one reload. The batch capability rides on the existing
commit-function reference; no option fields are threaded through callers.

* fix(studio): soften off-canvas indicator outline to 30% opacity

The dashed off-canvas selection outline at 60% was noisy with many
protruding elements on screen; drop the resting opacity to 30% (hover
still restores full opacity so it stays discoverable).

* fix(studio): drop off-canvas indicator outline to 10% opacity

Follow-up to the 30% softening — 10% resting opacity reads much calmer
with many protruding elements; hover still restores full opacity.

* fix(studio): gate [hf-commit] console traces to dev only

The start/settled/persisted/restore lifecycle traces logged on every
gesture commit in all environments — console noise for end users. Route
them through a dev-only traceCommit helper (matching the pixel-violation
error's existing DEV gate). The commit_* PostHog events stay always on;
they are the production observability, the console lines are a dev aid.

* fix(studio): count actual reloads, not softReload requests, in commit telemetry

A resize's size and offset persists both request softReload; the seam
counted each request, so a batched gesture reported reload_count 2 even
though the batch is one write and one reload. Compute the count from what
dispatchBufferedCommits actually did — one for a batch, the request count
for the sequential fallback.

* fix(studio): rotate hover + off-canvas overlays with the element; flicker-free crop

- Hover overlay applied the element's rotation only to the selection chrome,
  not the hover box; it now rotates about center like the selection, via a
  shared orientedGroupAwareOverlayRect router (one owner for rotation-aware
  overlay geometry across hover/selection/off-canvas).
- Off-canvas indicator was axis-aligned; it now rotates with the element and
  inverse-rotates the canvas-exclusion clip into the element's local frame,
  so the protruding-sliver clip stays correct for rotated elements.
- Crop commit re-lifted the element only in the commit's .then(), so one
  frame painted the cropped state (the flicker). Re-lift synchronously right
  after onStyleCommit (which applies the clip before its first await), so the
  cropped state never paints; the persisted file value is unchanged.

* fix(studio): address code-review findings across the commit-hardening campaign

Correctness (would ship green, bite under latency):
- Enable-keyframes phase 2 now carries coalesceMs: Infinity, so the convert
  folds into one undo entry instead of splitting past the 300ms default.
- The SDK keyframe persist path forwards coalesceMs (CutoverOptions gains the
  field); multi-keyframe delete and convert coalesce correctly when SDK-routed.
- Razor split-all's rollback is guarded so a failing restore can't swallow the
  error toast that tells the user the split failed.

Simplification (single source of truth / no dead flexibility):
- Decompose resolveResizeDraftRect (drops a fallow-ignore suppression).
- Delegate the third readProjectFileContent copy to the shared helper.
- Inline setPatchFromUpdateProperties (its only caller passes one mutation).
- One toSdkPersistOptions translates gesture overrides to SDK options.
- Bundle the reorder-rollback deps into one object (was 7-9 positional args).
- Dedupe the 'last group reloads' ternary; type gesture options as
  CommitMutationOptions; drop a Map+array wrapper around a single write.

* feat(studio): atomic z-order reorder via batch patch-element endpoint

Z-order reorder issued N per-element inline-style patches (one server
write each), so a mid-chain failure could leave a partial reorder on disk.
Add a patch-elements-batch endpoint that validates every patch, folds them
over the file in one in-memory rewrite, and writes once (all-or-nothing;
unsafe input rejects with no write). The reorder now sends one batch per
source file and records one undo entry. Because a failed atomic write
persists nothing, the interim disk-write-back rollback (restoreReorderedFile
/ restoreFulfilledReorderFiles / ReorderRollbackDeps) is deleted — failure
rolls back only live DOM/store state. Closes the last disk-atomicity gap.

* fix(studio): razor-split undo no longer silently no-ops

The split clone was written to disk without a data-hf-id, so the split
endpoint recorded that unstamped HTML as the undo entry's afterHash. The
next reloadPreview() ran the preview route's ensureHfIds write-back, which
minted a fresh id and persisted DIFFERENT bytes — so at undo time the disk
hash no longer matched afterHash and editHistory's content-mismatch guard
silently refused the undo (no write, no network, no error). Stamp the split
output via ensureHfIds in splitElementInHtml before it is written/returned,
so the preview write-back is a no-op and the recorded afterHash always
equals the final on-disk bytes. Fixes at the source rather than relaxing the
mismatch guard. Corrects the stale comment that credited forceReloadSdkSession.

* feat(studio): closed-hand grab cursor on the rotate handle

The rotate handle used the default arrow cursor; show a grabbing
(closed-hand) cursor on hover to signal it's grabbed and dragged to rotate.

* fix(studio): dropping a dragged element over another no longer selects it

A moved drag's release fired the box click, which re-selected whatever now
sat under the pointer via the hover cache — so dropping an element over a
higher-z one selected the drop target instead of keeping the dragged
element selected. The drag-move branch now suppresses the next box click,
mirroring the resize branch.

* fix(studio): group drag is one undo entry, not one per element

Dragging a multi-selected group committed each member's position write as
its own undo entry, so reverting took N Cmd+Z presses. Force a shared
coalesceKey (infinite window) across every member's commit so they fold
into a single undo entry, like the other multi-step commit paths.

* fix(studio): undo of a split no longer leaves a ghost clip in the timeline

The file and the composition iframe revert correctly on undo, but the
timeline panel kept a ghost node for the split clone. The element-merge
that repopulates the timeline preserves elements the fresh scan dropped —
intended for enriched sub-composition children a bare DOM re-scan misses,
but it also preserved a genuinely-removed TOP-LEVEL element (the split
clone after undo), leaving a phantom clip. Restrict the preserve to
elements with a compositionSrc (the enriched sub-comp children); a
top-level element missing from the fresh scan was truly removed.

Review follow-ups (both reviewers, all findings):

- resize captures scope to the resize group: convert-to-keyframes
  resolvedFromValues and the whole-offset backfill pass the group filter,
  so an opacity-touching intro tween can't ride into a converted scale
  tween (the rotation fix's contract, now uniform across intercepts)
- commitStaticSet resolves every group's target set BEFORE committing and
  coalesces groups landing on the same legacy mixed set into one commit —
  the second commit can no longer chase a stale group-derived id
- installAuthoredOpacityCapture also stamps an element the moment it GAINS
  data-color-grading at runtime (attributeFilter), not just at insertion
- both writer twins now share the same emitted-set dedupe shape
- applySoftReload's positional tail becomes a SoftReloadOptions object
- readAllAnimatedProperties builds the group-filtered key set immutably
  instead of deleting from the set mid-iteration
- applyAuthoredInlineOpacity documents the priority-lossy round-trip
- the marquee hit-test reads activeCompositionPathRef like its neighbors

New tests: resize intercept (scale route + group filter + non-uniform
longhands), after-write-HTML / stamp / empty-stamp opacity restore, the
no-op-commit-with-missed-instant-patch soft-reload contract, and the
runtime-gained-grading stamp.

- the drop frame applies the corrected position synchronously in the same
  microtask chain as the soft reload (no network-window jump), and the
  draft pins the anchor through accumulated moves on scaled elements
- gesture size/position math divides by the element's own content scale
- convert-to-keyframes resolves current values through the property-group
  filter for ALL capture passes (opacity/rotationX from unrelated tweens
  no longer leak into a rotation commit), and a grading-hidden source's
  opacity is read from its canvas, not the inline hide
- canvas pointer-down confirms the hover target with a synchronous
  hit-test before starting a marquee (stale-hover race lost selections)

Miguel Ángel 623f91d6a1 feat(studio): always-on crop with reposition handle, drop crop mode (#2090)
Crop is now part of the element selection instead of a separate mode. Selecting
a croppable element shows edge handles just outside each side and, once cropped,
the full content with the cropped-away area dimmed plus a center reposition
handle to pan the crop window. Dragging the body moves the element, edge handles
crop, the center handle pans; corners stay free for the resize handle. Removes
the crop-mode toggle (toolbar + property-panel buttons), the cropMode/
cropAvailable player-store state, and the double-click-to-crop gesture. The
clip-path inset model is unchanged.

Miguel Ángel 574da2b215 fix(studio): off-canvas indicators track live layout instead of going stale (#2018)
The dashed indicators for elements outside the canvas stayed pinned at an element's
old position after a move or a seek: they were recomputed by an effect keyed on
compRect/activeCompositionPath, neither of which changes on an in-place soft-reload
edit or a playhead seek.

They now recompute via a MutationObserver on the preview document (coalesced to one
recompute per frame), so they follow the element live. Crop-hugging is preserved.
Adds a regression test that mutates an element in place and asserts the indicator moves.

Two group selection bugs with animated members:

1) Empty space inside a group's overlay didn't hover/select the group. Members
   animated outside the wrapper's static box (110px box vs 340px member union),
   so elementsFromPoint hit only the full-bleed background there. Add a
   member-union hit-test fallback: a point inside a group's live member bounds
   resolves to that group (innermost wins).

2) After drilling into a group and selecting a child, nothing else was
   selectable — out-of-scope resolved to null. Make drill-in non-sticky:
   interacting outside the drilled group re-resolves normally and exits the
   drill-in, so a later click on the group selects it as a unit again.

* feat(studio): draggable 3D-transform cube in the design panel

Add a Figma-style draggable cube to the 3D Transform section so users can set an
element's 3D orientation by dragging instead of typing degrees. Drag tilts the
element (rotationX/Y); Shift-drag rolls it (rotationZ); a recenter button resets
the 3D transform to identity. The cube previews the orientation live and commits
on release.

It's an input affordance over the existing keyframe-aware commit path
(commitAnimatedProperty) — a drag at the playhead writes/updates keyframes just
like the numeric fields, no new mutation infra.

- transform3dProjection.ts: pure unit-cube projection with back-face culling and
  painter ordering (no 3D dependency), unit-tested.
- Transform3DCube.tsx: the SVG drag widget (pointer-capture, draft→commit).
- Surface the two missing numeric fields (RotZ, Perspective). Perspective drives
  the new editable `transformPerspective` prop (per-element depth) rather than
  CSS `perspective` (which only affects children).

* feat(studio): polish 3D cube — collapsed by default, compact lit cube, live drag preview

Address review of the first cut:
- 3D Transform section is now collapsible and collapsed by default (it was tall
  and ate panel space).
- Redesign the cube: compact and centered (was full-width), resting isometric
  camera so it reads as a 3D cube at identity instead of a flat square,
  directional per-face lighting, gradient backdrop + grounding shadow.
- Live element preview while dragging: onLivePreviewProps gsap.sets the live
  transform on the preview element so it moves WITH the cube; release still
  commits via the keyframe-aware path.
- Extract Cube3dControl to keep the panel component under the complexity gate.

* fix(studio): persist static 3D transform + refine cube edges

The cube (and the RotX/RotY numeric fields) didn't stick on an element whose
only tween is a position 'set' — commitAnimatedProperty tried to convert the
zero-duration hold into keyframes, so the rotation was never written and the
cube snapped back. Handle the static-set case: merge the property into the set
(update-property) so a static 3D rotation/perspective persists, and the cube
reads it back from runtime.

Also refine the cube rendering: muted teal lit faces with edges that brighten
with how front-facing each face is (crisp bevels, not flat neon outlines), a
soft halo glow, and a stronger grounding shadow.

* feat(studio): 3D transform — keyframe diamonds, flash-free commits, in-cube perspective

- Keyframe diamonds: RotX/RotY/RotZ + Perspective (and Z/Scale) now each carry a
  KeyframeNavigation diamond, so 3D transforms can be keyframed like Layout X/Y.
  Refactored the six fields onto a shared Transform3dField.
- Flash-free: static-set 3D commits now use instantPatch (in-place runtime patch,
  no soft reload), and the set fast-path was widened to the 3D channels
  (rotationX/Y/Z, z, transformPerspective) — dragging the cube / scrubbing a 3D
  field no longer flashes.
- In-cube perspective: a Persp slider lives in the cube widget and the cube's
  foreshortening reflects transformPerspective live.

* feat(studio): 3D cube X/Y/Z axis gizmo + gated flash-diagnostic logs

- Axis gizmo: render the rotated X (red) / Y (green) / Z (blue) vectors from the
  cube center — away-facing axes dimmed behind the cube, toward-facing on top
  with a tip dot + label — so orientation is readable at a glance.
- Flash diagnostics: add a gated, JSON-stringified [hf-3d:*] logger (on in dev or
  via window.__hfDebug). Instruments the commit path (which branch + picked
  tween), the cube pose/axis commits, and — the key signal — applyPreviewSync's
  instant-patch-vs-soft-reload decision (a soft reload IS the flash). Reproduce
  with the console open to pinpoint any remaining flash to a specific commit.

* fix(studio): make the 3D cube mirror the element's orientation 1:1

The resting isometric camera made the cube always look tilted, so at rotation
0/0/0 the cube showed a 3D pose while the element was flat — the cube didn't
represent the element. Drop the decorative camera (VIEW_RX/RY = 0): the cube now
faces front at identity, exactly matching the un-rotated element, and tilts to
match as the element rotates. The X/Y/Z axis gizmo keeps the flat-at-rest state
readable.

Flash status (from the gated [hf-3d:*] logs): every commit now reports
'instant (no flash)' via instantPatch — the soft-reload flashes are resolved.

* fix(studio): stop design-panel flicker — read transform channels live

Each 3D commit bumps the gsap cache; the panel then re-read runtime values, but
readGsapRuntimeValuesForPanel only included props already present in the parsed
gsapAnimations. A just-set rotationX isn't in the parse yet, so for that window
the cube + fields dropped it and flickered to 0. Always read the core transform
channels (x/y/rotation/rotationX/Y/Z/z/scale/transformPerspective/opacity)
directly via gsap.getProperty — which reflects the in-place instant patch — so
the panel shows the true current value with no flicker.

* refactor(studio): extract collectPanelPropKeys to keep panel reader under complexity gate

* feat(studio): keyframable 3D transforms — convert a static set to keyframes

The cube/3D fields stored rotation as a static 'set', and convert-to-keyframes
flatly refused to convert a set (gsapParser.ts) — so two 3D 'keyframes' just
overwrote the same static value with no interpolation.

Now a set converts to an animatable to(): resolveConversionProps emits both
endpoints from the set's value (visual unchanged until edited), and both writers
flip set→to, drop the immediateRender hold, and add a duration. The element's
clip duration is threaded through the convert chain (3D field → handler →
convertToKeyframes → route → parser) so the keyframes span the whole clip and
land in range at any playhead. Click a 3D field's diamond to convert, then edit
at different playheads to animate. Acorn writer mirrored; recast round-trip test
added.

* feat(studio): keyframe toggle on the 3D cube

The cube had no keyframe affordance, so dragging it only ever wrote the static
set (logs showed every rotation commit as path:static-set) and nothing
interpolated — converting required clicking a numeric field's diamond, which
isn't discoverable while driving the cube.

Add a keyframe diamond button to the cube widget: it converts the 3D
('other'-group) static set to keyframes spanning the element's clip, and lights
up when the transform is already keyframed. Once keyframed, cube drags + numeric
edits add keyframes at the playhead and the 3D rotation interpolates.

* feat(studio): auto-keyframe 3D transforms on animated elements + stop AssetsTab 404 loop

3D transforms now auto-keyframe like drag/resize/rotate: when the element is
already animated (its clip has keyframes), editing a 3D prop converts the static
set to keyframes so edits at other playheads interpolate — no manual keyframe
toggle needed. Purely static elements still write a static set (and the cube's
keyframe button remains a manual opt-in for them).

Also fix the AssetsTab media-manifest fetch: it was keyed on the assets array
reference (new each render) so it re-fetched the (usually missing) manifest on
every re-render — spamming 404s and churning the left sidebar during cube drags.
Key on a stable join and cache the 404 so a missing manifest is fetched once.

* fix(studio): cube writes one keyframe per drag (no duplicate keyframes)

The cube committed rotationX/Y/Z as separate add-keyframe mutations; the first
axis's auto-keyframe convert shifted the tween so the second axis computed a
slightly different percentage → two adjacent keyframes instead of one.

Add a batched commitAnimatedProperties that writes all changed props into ONE
keyframe, and route the cube through it (commitAnimatedProperty is now a thin
single-prop wrapper). Threaded through the panel chain; numeric fields keep the
single-prop path. Set-path and keyframe-path extracted to helpers to stay under
the complexity gate.

* refactor(studio): extract AudioRow from AssetsTab to satisfy file-size check

The manifest-404 fix touched AssetsTab.tsx, which was already over the 600-line
cap (702). Move the self-contained AudioRow sub-component to its own file,
bringing AssetsTab to 493 lines.

* fix(studio): self-heal stale animationId on 3D property commit

A 3D property edit (cube drag / field) picks its target from the panel's
selectedGsapAnimations cache. When keyframes were just removed or the script
changed underneath, that id is gone server-side and the commit POST 404s
('animation not found'). The raw commitMutation already toasts but rethrows,
so the rejection escaped as an uncaught promise. Catch it in
commitAnimatedProperties and bump the cache so the panel re-syncs and the
next edit self-heals.

* fix(studio): batch the 3D reset into one commit (was six flashes)

Reset 3D orientation looped six props (rotationX/Y/Z, z, scale,
transformPerspective) through the single-property commit, so one click
triggered six separate soft-reloads — six preview flashes. Batch them into
one onCommitAnimatedProperties call (one keyframe, one reload), matching the
cube-drag path.

* fix(studio): 3D-edit a static element writes a set, not keyframes

Editing the 3D transform of an element with no keyframes created a keyframed
tween (Case 3 made a tl.to() + convert, a flat tween converted to keyframes).
A static element should stay static — same as manual drag / resize / rotate,
which tl.set() it. Route no-keyframe elements to a set: update an existing one
in place, or create a dedicated tl.set carrying all axes in ONE add mutation.
The single mutation also avoids the per-axis id race (a flat tween's
group-derived id shifts after the first prop, 404-ing the next and polluting
an unrelated tween).

* feat(studio): instant 3D keyframe edits via in-place tween rebuild

Dragging the cube on an animated element soft-reloaded the iframe on every
edit (a flash). GSAP compiles object-form keyframes ({ "0%": {...} }) into
sub-tweens at creation and ignores later vars.keyframes mutations, so the value
can't be patched the way a tl.set can. Instead REBUILD the tween in place: kill
it and recreate it on the same parent timeline at the same position with the
edited keyframe merged and all other vars preserved, then re-seek — no iframe
reload, no flash. Resolution is now channel-aware for keyframe tweens too, so a
rotation edit lands on the rotation tween, never a co-located position tween.
Declines (→ soft reload) for array-form, motionPath, or dynamic values.

* feat(studio): static 3D transform persists as off-timeline gsap.set (no 0% keyframe)

Adjusting a 3D transform on an element with no keyframes created a
tl.set(...,0), which the timeline renders as a 0% keyframe diamond — even
though it's a static hold, not animated. Persist a newly-created static 3D
hold as a base gsap.set(...) instead: it runs immediately, sits OFF the
timeline, and shows no keyframe marker (matching the manual-drag UX).

- Model: GsapAnimation.global marks a base gsap.set vs an on-timeline tl.set.
- Parser (recast + acorn): parse a STRING-LITERAL gsap.set("#sel", {...}) as an
  editable global set so it round-trips and re-edits in place; variable-target
  gsap.set(el, ...) holds stay opaque surrounding source (unchanged).
- Serializer + writers: emit gsap.set(sel, props) (no timeline var, no position)
  when global; in-place updates keep it a gsap.set.
- add mutation gains global; commitStaticSet sends it when creating a holder.

* fix(studio): static manual drag persists as off-timeline gsap.set, instant (no flash/diamond)

After keyframes are removed, manually dragging a now-static element wrote a
tl.set(...,0) — an on-timeline hold that shows a 0% keyframe diamond and
soft-reloaded on the first nudge (a flash/teleport between the overlay and the
committed position). Make the static position/rotation drag persist as a base
gsap.set (off-timeline, no marker), like the 3D path.

A gsap.set has no runtime tween to patch, so add a 'global-set' instant-patch
that applies the value straight to the element (gsap.set(el, props)) — the
element is static on these channels, so it reflects instantly with no soft
reload. Existing tl.set holds keep the tween 'set' patch; only global sets use
global-set. Create now carries the instant patch too, so the first nudge is
flash-free.

* fix(studio): a base gsap.set shows no keyframe diamond (timeline + panel)

A base gsap.set is parsed as an editable set (for idempotent re-edits), but
synthesizeFlatTweenKeyframes turned it into a synthetic 0% keyframe, so the
timeline track and the panel field showed a phantom keyframe diamond for a
static, non-animated value. Return null for a global set so it contributes no
keyframes — it's an off-timeline static hold, not a keyframe.

* fix(studio): a static set never shows a keyframe diamond (timeline + panel)

A set (gsap.set OR tl.set) is a static hold — a value applied at one point,
not an animated keyframe — so it must not synthesize a phantom keyframe. The
prior fix only skipped GLOBAL gsap.set; on-timeline tl.set holds (and ones a
split/conversion produced) still showed a diamond. Skip every set, which also
aligns the AST keyframe cache with the runtime scan (it already drops every
zero-duration set).

* fix(studio): batch set-property edits (reset 3D no longer 404s)

Reset 3D fires 6 props (rotationX/Y/Z, z, scale, perspective) at a set;
commitSetProps updated them one at a time. A set's id is GROUP-derived, so the
moment scale lands on a rotation set its id shifts (-other -> mixed), 404-ing
the next prop (perspective never got set). Add an update-properties mutation
(merge many props in one call) and have commitSetProps/commitStaticSet use it —
one round-trip, no mid-loop id shift.

* style(studio): fix format + trim 3D-patch helper complexity

oxfmt the runtime-patch file (the failing Format/Preflight check) and reduce
the complexity of the new helpers: flatten keyframeVarsCarryChannel with .some,
extract finiteNumericProps from applyGlobalSet, suppress the inherently-defensive
rebuildKeyframeTween guard chain.

* chore(studio): remove [hf-3d:*] debug logs (3D transform verified working)

Strip the log3d call sites + the debug3d util now that the 3D transform /
static-set / keyframe-rebuild paths are confirmed working.

* chore(studio): strategic [hf-pos:*] logs for position-commit path audit

Temporary DEV-gated logs to confirm which path each drag takes: single drag →
GSAP code path (single-gsap), multi-select/group drag → DEPRECATED CSS-var path
(group-css, applyStudioPathOffset → --hf-studio-offset), and the single CSS
fallback (single-css). To be removed once group drag is routed through GSAP.

* fix(studio): route multi-select group drag through GSAP code path

Group drag committed positions via the deprecated --hf-studio-offset CSS
var (applyStudioPathOffset) and outright blocked GSAP-animated elements.
Single drag already routes through tryGsapDragIntercept (tl.set /
keyframes / gsap.set); group drag now does the same per element, so a
multi-select move writes real GSAP code with no CSS-var fallback. Removed
the now-dead CSS group commit.

* feat(studio): live candidate highlight while marquee-selecting

The marquee only revealed what it selected on mouse-up, so it was easy to
grab too much or too little. Now each element the marquee box currently
intersects is outlined live (studio-accent) as you drag, before release —
so you can see the selection forming. Shares one synchronous OBB/SAT
intersection pass between the live highlight and the commit; the async
source-probe still runs only once, on mouse-up.

* chore(studio): remove temporary [hf-pos:*] position-path debug logs

Investigation done — group drag now routes through the GSAP code path, so
the CSS-vs-GSAP path-audit scaffolding (logPos / debugPos) is no longer
needed. Removes the util and its imports/calls.

* fix(studio): marquee selects/highlights elements at their real positions

The marquee derived element boxes from elementObbCorners, whose
non-identity-transform branch reconstructed the box from offsetLeft/offsetTop
plus the element's own transform matrix — ignoring the matrix translate
(m.e/m.f) and any ancestor transforms. Mid-GSAP-animation (elements carry a
translate() transform), that put boxes at their pre-translate layout
position, so the marquee highlighted/selected the wrong elements vs. the
box shown when you click an element directly.

Route the marquee through the same toOverlayRect basis the selection and
group boxes use (a getBoundingClientRect-based AABB). Now highlight ==
selection-commit == the click-selection box, at the element's real on-screen
position. Drops the buggy OBB/SAT path (elementObbCorners,
marqueeIntersectsObb); AABB matches the selection box, which never rotated.

Adds dev-only [hf-marquee:*] tracing (per-element rect + intersect + skip
reason, JSON) to debug what the marquee sees; stripped from prod builds.

* fix(studio): off-canvas elements no longer render a selection-style border

OffCanvasIndicators drew two layers per partly-off-screen element: a dashed
sliver on the protruding part, plus a solid studio-accent border (with the
selection box-shadow) over the on-canvas portion. That solid border only
ever draws for UNSELECTED elements (selected ones get a real selection box
via the filter), so an unselected off-canvas element looked selected.
Removed the solid inside layer — the dashed protruding sliver stays as the
off-canvas hint.

* chore(studio): remove [hf-marquee:*] debug logs

Marquee position fix is verified; strip the dev-only tracing scaffolding
(logMarquee/debugLabel/debug param) back to the lean intersection loop.

* fix(studio): convert a global gsap.set to a seekable timeline tween + review cleanups

Primary fix: converting a global `gsap.set` to keyframes flipped only the
method (set->to), leaving the callee object `gsap` — emitting `gsap.to(...)`,
an off-timeline tween that fires once at load and isn't on the paused master
`window.__timelines` (the engine can't seek/render it). Reachable from the
cube's keyframe toggle + maybeAutoKeyframeSet on the global sets commitStaticSet
creates. Now re-roots onto the timeline var and adds the position arg, in both
the recast and acorn writers; covered by a convert test seeded from gsap.set in
each path.

Review cleanups: drop dead confirmDelete/<DeleteConfirm> in AudioRow; drop the
always-zero viewRx/viewRy camera params from the 3D projection; un-export four
internal-only symbols (clears fallow unused-exports); re-add the collectMarqueeHits
complexity suppression dropped with the debug scaffolding.

* chore(studio): green the CI gate + 3D panel expanded by default

- File-size: extract the marquee/candidate render into MarqueeOverlay so
  DomEditOverlay drops back under the 600-line cap.
- Fallow complexity: suppress the 8 accepted-complexity findings from the 3D/
  runtime work (resolveRuntimeTween, readRuntimeKeyframes, hasNonHoldTweenForElement,
  commitKeyframeProps, scored, ImageCard, selectionShapeStyles, off-canvas effect)
  with the bare directive the linter recognizes.
- 3D transform panel now defaults to expanded (the cube gizmo is the headline).

Hide in-flow timed clips with `display:none` only when they are LEAF clips (no
nested timed clips). `display:none` on a container removes its whole subtree,
hiding descendants that are still inside their own visibility window — e.g. an
in-flow composition root whose effective window clamps to the timeline end would
black out a child video that should still show (the hdr-hlg regression).
Containers keep `visibility:hidden`, which a visible descendant can override; only
leaves leave the flow, which is all the split-overlap case needs.

* feat(core): strip legacy path-offset/rotation + drop obsolete studio lint rule

A position or rotation add/set mutation makes the GSAP timeline the single source of
truth for that channel, so any lingering --hf-studio-offset / --hf-studio-rotation CSS
var must be cleared to avoid double-applying. stripStudioEditsFromTarget now clears both
channels, and the add-strip fires for the position AND rotation property groups.

Also removes the obsolete `gsap_studio_edit_blocked` lint rule: it warned that Studio
cannot save drag/resize edits to elements in a registered timeline — the exact premise
the single-source work inverts (the timeline is now the edit target). Removed the rule,
its now-unused TIMELINE_REGISTRY_ASSIGN_PATTERN import, and its 5 tests.

- HOLD_SYNC_MUTATION_TYPES: add add-motion-path (load-bearing — addMotionPathToScript

showToast/requestSeek/idle, which were firing before the save landed). SafeGsapCommitMutation

- commitFlatViaKeyframes snapshots dragged gsap values before clearProps + restores after seek,

Dragging or rotating an element writes into the GSAP timeline (the single source of
truth) instead of a parallel --hf-studio-offset / --hf-studio-rotation CSS var: static
elements commit a tl.set (idempotent on re-edit), tweened elements edit keyframes, and
the live preview moves via gsap.set so what you see equals what is written and renders.
Removes the dual-channel CSS-var/transform reconciliation behind the
fling / disappear / runaway / double-stack / wrong-start bug class — for BOTH position
and rotation (gesture base read from the gsap transform, gsap.set live preview, tl.set/
keyframe commit, dropped the handleDom*Commit CSS fallbacks).

Subcompositions edit the same single-source way, which surfaced and fixes:
- resolve a subcomp element's source file via the composition-id map (the runtime drops
  the source linkage when inlining the subcomposition);
- a selected element's selection box AND motion path use basic visibility, not the
  occlusion heuristic (a backgroundless opacity-1 scene above it is not an opaque cover);
- soft reload rebuilds ONLY the committed composition's timeline, leaving other
  compositions' timelines intact (no cross-composition revert);
- read keyframes from the element's OWN composition timeline (scan all timelines, not
  the first unstable key);
- delete-all uses a soft reload too, so editing no longer hard-reloads the iframe.

* fix(studio): address #1567 review — drop drag-intercept flag, harden softReload onerror, tighten runtime ladder, per-group gestures

- DROP STUDIO_GSAP_DRAG_INTERCEPT_ENABLED: single-source GSAP intercept is the only
  position/rotation channel; the false branch silently killed drag+rotate (and let GSAP
  elements into the keyframe-corrupting CSS path). Removed flag + dead branch + env def + tests.
- gsapSoftReload: plugin onerror no longer fakes success — signals onAsyncFailure so the caller

  partial reads (no phantom identity) and re-applies the drag override in finally.

- useGestureCommit: partitionKeyframesByGroup wraps the add-with-keyframes sites (per #1611 review).

* feat(studio): patchRuntimeTweenInPlace — update a tween's values in place

Defensive runtime helper: locate the element's tween in window.__timelines via the
shared resolveRuntimeTween scan, update its set/keyframe vars, invalidate, and re-seek
the playhead — without re-running the whole composition. Returns false (caller falls
back to soft reload) for any shape it can't safely patch (no tween, dynamic/computed
keyframes, motionPath arc, channel mismatch, or any error). Foundation for instant,
flicker-free manual edits.

* fix(studio): address #1612 review — channel-aware set resolution + decline dynamic-expression patches

- resolveRuntimeTween gains an optional channels[] hint; for kind:set it prefers the set whose
  vars carry one of the patched channels and never returns a disjoint-only set (e.g. won't write
  {x,y} into a co-located {rotation} set). patchRuntimeTweenInPlace derives channels from the props.
- patchSet declines (returns false → soft reload) when overwriting a string/dynamic vars[ch],
  instead of silently dropping the computed expression.

* feat(studio): instantPatch fast path in runCommit

A commit carrying an instantPatch option tries patchRuntimeTweenInPlace first; on
success the preview updates in place with NO reload (instant), on false it falls back
to the existing soft reload. Extracts the preview-sync tail into a testable
applyPreviewSync helper. No behavior change when instantPatch is absent.

* feat(studio): route static position/rotation set drags through instantPatch

Static-element position and rotation set commits now attach instantPatch{selector,
change:{kind:set}} so the drag updates in place with no reload. Structural ops (new
tween add, delete-all, convert/split/materialize) and keyframe edits deliberately omit
it and keep the soft reload — keyframe instant-patch needs object-form keyframe support
in patchRuntimeTweenInPlace (deferred).

* fix(studio): address #1613 review — derive instantPatch from the mutation, patch both coalesced commits, wire onAsyncFailure

- commitStaticGsapPosition/Rotation derive instantPatch.change.props from the actual
  update-property mutation(s) sent (one source of truth → findUnsafeMutationValues-validated
  values flow into the patch; can't drift).
- Coalesced x/y: the intermediate x commit also carries instantPatch{x}, the y commit {x,y},
  so a second-POST failure still leaves the preview patched for what persisted.
- applyPreviewSync passes reloadPreview as onAsyncFailure (plugin-CDN load error → full reload);
  per U4 the synchronous false still does NOT escalate.
- (channel disambiguation from #1612 verified end-to-end: {x,y}→position set, {rotation}→rotation set.)

* feat(studio): no full iframe remount for soft-reloadable edits

A softReload edit (and the SDK single-script refresh) no longer escalates to a full
reloadPreview() iframe remount when applySoftReload returns false — the live gsap.set
already shows the value, and a remount is the worst flash + re-inlines subcomps
(reverting their keyframes). verifyTimelinesPopulated now checks the expected target
keys the re-run registers, so a correct scoped re-run doesn't spuriously report empty.
Full reload stays only for the structural (no-softReload) and ambiguous-script paths.

* feat(studio): pre-load MotionPathPlugin so motion-path edits don't async-flash

ensureMotionPathPluginLoaded() runs once at the preview iframe-load seam (NLELayout
onIframeLoad), eagerly loading + registering MotionPathPlugin without killing the
timeline. So when a user adds a motion path to a composition that didn't originally
use one, the soft reload runs synchronously instead of taking the kill-then-await-CDN
async path (the flash). Idempotent + defensive; the existing async fallback stays for
genuine cold-start/CDN-failure.

* fix(studio): don't re-save + reload when source editor syncs externally

The SourceEditor's CodeMirror update listener fired onChange on ANY docChanged —
including the programmatic dispatch that syncs external content (e.g. a manual-edit
commit writing the source back into the open editor). That made the editor re-save the
file and bump refreshKey, fully reloading the preview iframe on every drag/keyframe
edit — defeating the in-place instant patch and causing the flash. Annotate the
programmatic sync (ExternalSync) and skip onChange for it, so only real keystrokes save.

* fix(core): inject MotionPathPlugin into preview when a composition uses motionPath

A studio-created motion path writes a gsap motionPath tween into the single-source
timeline, but the preview HTML only loaded gsap core — so the first render threw
"Invalid property motionPath ... Missing plugin?". Detect motionPath usage and inject
MotionPathPlugin right after the composition's gsap script, version-matched to it.

* fix(studio): dedup __hfMotionPathPluginLoading type decl (restack artifact)

* fix(studio): address #1605 review — distinguish soft-reload failure modes + observability, SourceEditor focus guard

BLOCKER: applySoftReload now returns SoftReloadResult ('applied' | 'verify-failed' |
'cannot-soft-reload') instead of a bare bool. applyPreviewSync + sdkRefresh escalate to a full
reloadPreview() on the PERMANENT 'cannot-soft-reload' (no gsap/rebind hook/scopable key/script,
or sync re-run threw) — fixing the silent-stale-preview U4 dropped — but still suppress the
TRANSIENT 'verify-failed' (live gsap.set is correct). Telemetry: gsap_soft_reload_outcome
(origin/result/escalated) + gsap_instant_patch_fallback, so the U4 invariant is enforced, not asserted.
- SourceEditor: skip the programmatic external-sync replace while the editor is focused, so an
  in-flight commit doesn't clobber the user's uncommitted keystrokes (ExternalSync kept for unfocused).
- Verified ensureMotionPathPluginLoaded already guards __hfMotionPathPluginLoading (no double-append).

* fix(core): align __clipTree and __clipManifest ids via stableClipId

Timeline inline expansion was dead for nested children inside index.html:
the tree keyed id-less elements by a synthetic __clip-N while the manifest
keyed them null, so parent<->child never joined. Both now resolve identity
through stableClipId (id || data-hf-id), which every generated element has.

* fix(core): strip baked runtime + tag comp root in preview assembly

Comps that ship a baked inline runtime were double-loaded (preview injects
its own) and the baked copy failed to parse inline (Unexpected token '<').
Strip it in buildSubCompositionHtml + the disk-fallback preview path. Also
tag the comp root with data-composition-file so the studio resolves a comp's
top-level elements to the right source file instead of defaulting to
index.html (which made the GSAP panel parse the wrong, multi-timeline file).

* feat(studio): set motion-path destination from a toolbar toggle

Replaces the double-click-on-canvas UX (which painted text over the preview)
with a 'Set motion destination' toggle next to Snap/Grid, shown only when the
selected element can take a path. While armed, one canvas press places the
destination. Also removes the dead TimelinePropertyRows component.

* fix(studio): center timeline keyframe diamonds on their percentage

Dropped clampDiamondLeft, which forced boundary keyframes fully inside the
clip so a 0% diamond sat half a diamond right of the 0% point. Each diamond's
midpoint now sits exactly on its % (the clip is overflow-visible).

* fix(studio): resize static elements via tl.set, not a single-stop keyframes tween

Resizing an element with no size animation wrote keyframes:{ <playhead%>:
{width,height} } — one mid-point stop GSAP can't interpolate, so it rendered
NaN/0 dimensions at every other frame and the element vanished (worst off 0%).
Added commitStaticGsapSize (mirrors commitStaticGsapPosition): a static resize
now writes tl.set({width,height}), held at all frames; re-resizing updates it
in place.

* fix(studio): negative-cache failed media probes

Only successful probes were cached, so CORS/404 cross-origin media was
re-probed every rAF-driven timeline re-derive, flooding the console. Remember
failed URLs and skip them.

* fix(studio): type window.setTimeout handle as number

ReturnType<typeof window.setTimeout> infers NodeJS.Timeout when @types/node is
present and clashes with the DOM number the call returns. Type it number.

* fix(studio): drag/resize disappearance, stale-ID duplicates, soft-reload clearProps

- Fix soft-reload clearProps destroying element inline styles — save cssText,
  clear, restore, strip only transform
- Fix resize no-op on re-resize: delete+add instead of two update-property

## Problem

Studio manual drag had two bad target paths in `hf-keyframes-test`:

- Drag could start from a cached hover selection instead of the selected overlay, so moving `#cta` could write an offset to the wrong element while the overlay appeared correct.
- `#stage` is the visual 1920x1080 canvas, but the composition metadata lives on `<html data-composition-id ...>`. Studio treated `#stage` as a normal movable layer, so dragging it moved the coordinate basis the overlay depends on and left Undo with no reliable saved edit to reverse.

## Fix

- Manual drag now starts only from the selected overlay bounds; canvas pointer-down no longer starts movement from `hoverSelectionRef`.
- Added a structural root-layer heuristic: a direct body child matching the composition root's declared `data-width` / `data-height` is selectable and style-editable, but cannot receive manual offset/size/rotation edits.
- Manual geometry commits now return/rethrow the save promise so failed writes roll back optimistic DOM changes instead of silently sticking.
- GSAP-targeted CSS fallback edits are blocked before applying manual geometry when the GSAP drag intercept is unavailable.

## Tests

- New regression coverage for stale-hover drag start and full-canvas root-stage capability resolution.
- Focused DOM-edit suite: 119/119 pass.
- Full Studio suite: 800 pass, 18 todo.
- Studio typecheck clean; oxlint/oxfmt clean; lefthook pre-commit clean.
- Studio build passes with the existing Vite chunk-size warning.
- Browser verified with `agent-browser`: attempted `#stage` drag writes no offset and keeps Undo disabled; `#cta` drag writes exactly one offset to `#cta`; Undo returns the fixture to zero offsets.

Local browser artifacts: `artifacts/studio-cta-drag/stage-cta-drag-fix.webm`, `artifacts/studio-cta-drag/stage-cta-drag-fix-final.png`.

Make `resolveDomEditSelection` async and wire a `probeSourceElement` call
into the selection path so elements generated by scripts (not present in the
source HTML) are detected early and have all edit capabilities disabled with
a clear reason message ("This element is generated by a script and cannot be
edited visually.").

Part A – core probe logic:
- `domEditingLayers.ts`: `resolveDomEditSelection` is now async; calls
  `probeSourceElement` (POST /api/projects/:id/file-mutations/probe-element/:file)
  when `projectId` is supplied and the element has a stable id/selector.
  `existsInSource: false` flows into `resolveDomEditCapabilities`, which
  disables all write capabilities with the appropriate reason.
- `domEditingLayers.ts`: `refreshDomEditSelection` promoted to async.
- `files.ts`: new `probe-element` route; extracted `resolveProjectPath`,
  `resolveFileMutationContext`, `writeIfChanged`, and `parseMutationBody`
  helpers to eliminate repeated boilerplate across remove/patch/probe handlers.

Part B – caller propagation (all eight consumer sites):
- `useDomSelection.ts`: `buildDomSelectionFromTarget`,
  `resolveDomSelectionFromPreviewPoint`,
  `buildDomSelectionForTimelineElement`, `handleTimelineElementSelect`,
  `refreshDomEditSelectionFromPreview`, and
  `refreshDomEditGroupSelectionsFromPreview` all made async; `projectId`
  forwarded into `resolveDomEditSelection`.
- `useDomEditCommits.ts`, `useDomEditTextCommits.ts`: updated
  `buildDomSelectionFromTarget` parameter type; added `await` at call sites.
- `useDomEditSession.ts`: inner `syncSelectionFromDocument` made async; fire
  with `void` to satisfy the surrounding effect.
- `usePreviewInteraction.ts`: `handlePreviewCanvasMouseDown` and
  `handlePreviewCanvasPointerMove` made async (React ignores handler return
  values, so this is safe).
- `useStudioUrlState.ts`: deferred `buildDomSelectionFromTarget` call
  converted to `.then()` chain with `void` prefix so the effect stays sync.
- `LayersPanel.tsx`: `seekToLayer`, `handleSelectLayer`, and
  `handleLayerHover` made async.
- `DomEditOverlay.tsx` / `useDomEditOverlayGestures.ts`: `onCanvasPointerMove`
  return type widened to `Promise<DomEditSelection | null>`; pointer-down
  handler falls back to `hoverSelectionRef.current` (always populated by a
  prior hover) instead of awaiting the async move callback inline.

Part C – test and tooling fixes:
- `lefthook.yml`: filesize hook shell loop explicitly skips `*.test.ts/tsx`
  files as a guard against a lefthook v2.1.6 bug where `exclude` patterns are
  not applied to `{staged_files}` in shell scripts.
- `domEditing.test.ts`: all `it()` blocks calling `resolveDomEditSelection`
  made async with `await`.
- `DomEditOverlay.test.ts`: mock updated to return `Promise.resolve(selection)`
  and `hoverSelection` pre-seeded so pointer-down test works with the new
  hover-first path.
- `studioUrlState.test.ts`: `buildDomSelectionFromTarget` mocks wrapped in
  `Promise.resolve()`; seek/selection hydration test made async with
  `await act(async () => { await Promise.resolve(); })` to flush microtasks.

with professional video editors (Premiere, DaVinci, Figma).

- NLEPreview: viewport gets bg-neutral-700 (#404040) as the pasteboard
  color surrounding the canvas — distinct from the app chrome (#0a0a0a)
- Player wrapper: drop bg-black so the pasteboard shows around the canvas
  (loading overlays still cover the area with bg-black during load)
- Player: set host background to transparent via inline style (overrides
  :host { background: #000 } in shadow DOM), and inject a style rule into
  the open shadow root so .hfp-container has overflow:visible and the
  canvas iframe gets a thin white ring + soft drop-shadow — making the
  canvas boundary legible against the pasteboard

* feat(studio): disable manual positioning JSON by default, add toggle

Manual edits were always stored in `.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json`,
making it hard to share source without the sidecar file and easy to
accidentally reposition elements via drag.

Changes:
- `enabled` field added to `StudioManualEditManifest` (defaults to `false`
  when absent — existing projects are unaffected until they opt in)
- Drag handles, resize, and rotation handles are hidden when disabled
- Layout X/Y/W/H/R fields in the Design panel are read-only when disabled

  visible whether or not an element is selected
- Toggle state is persisted to `.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json`
  so each project can opt in independently
- `STUDIO_PREVIEW_MANUAL_EDITING_ENABLED` env flag still acts as a hard
  cap (env off → feature off regardless of project setting)

Replace the `.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json` sidecar with inline-style

`--hf-studio-rotation`) plus `translate`/`width`/`height`/`rotate` inline styles via
`persistDomEditOperations` — no re-apply step needed on load.

Key changes:
- `sourcePatcher`: add `value: string | null` to `PatchOperation` — null removes the
  property/attribute from the HTML tag instead of setting it
- `manualEditsDom`: add `build*Patches` / `buildClear*Patches` helpers that capture live
  element state into `PatchOperation[]` for HTML source writes; add
  `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek` (DOM-query-based seek hook, queries data-attribute markers)
- `manualEdits.ts`: remove `applyStudioManualEditManifest` and all manifest target
  resolution; export `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek`; keep seek/play wrap infrastructure
- `useManifestPersistence`: remove all JSON I/O — no disk read on load, no manifest
  state, no toggle state; `applyCurrentStudioManualEditsToPreview` now only installs
  seek hooks via `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek`
- `useDomEditCommits`: replace `commitStudioManualEditManifestOptimistically` calls with
  direct DOM apply + `commitPositionPatchToHtml` (queued HTML patch write, skipRefresh)
- `DomEditOverlay`: remove `manualEditsEnabled` prop; revert all `canMove || manualEditsEnabled`
  gates to just `canApplyManualOffset` — every draggable element is always draggable
- `PropertyPanel`: remove `ManualPositioningToggle` component and all toggle props
- `manualEditsParsing/manualEditsTypes`: remove manifest types, upsert functions, and
  `STUDIO_MANUAL_EDITS_PATH`; keep `finiteNumber`, `readStudioFileChangePath`,
  `roundRotationAngle`, and snapshot/CSS-property types

- Guard `getDomLayerPatchTarget` against elements with `data-composition-id`
  so the root composition div is never returned as a visual selection target.
- Apply the same guard to the raw `elementFromPoint` fallback in
  `getPreviewTargetFromPointer`, which was the actual escape path.
- Thread `iframeRef` into gesture handler opts; after applying draft
  dimensions during resize, re-read the element BCR via `toOverlayRect`
  and update the overlay box position to compensate for visual drift on
  elements with centered transform-origin (e.g. GSAP scale tweens).

* fix(studio): correct resize overlay for scaled elements; block invisible element selection

- Resize: use BCR from `toOverlayRect` for both position and size after
  applying draft dimensions — GSAP scale makes visual size diverge from
  raw CSS size, BCR is the only accurate source during a gesture.
- Click selection: add `isElementComputedVisible` guard to the
  `elementFromPoint` fallback so opacity-0 / autoAlpha-hidden elements
  cannot be selected even though the browser hit-test returns them.

* fix(studio): reload preview on external file changes via SSE/HMR

Share the app-level domEditSaveTimestampRef with useManifestPersistence
so the SSE/HMR handler can suppress echoes from all studio saves (code
tab, timeline, DOM edits), then call reloadPreview() for non-motion
external changes that aren't echoes of our own saves.

* fix(studio): suppress post-resize click to keep selection on resized element

* fix(studio): serve registry blocks without index.html in preview

Blocks ship as {id}.html + assets/ with no index.html. The preview
route hard-coded index.html so these projects returned 404 and their
assets (e.g. korea-map.png, map-nyc-paris.png) were never served.

Add resolveProjectMainHtml() that falls back to {id}.html, thread the
resolved compositionPath through transformPreviewHtml and
injectStudioPreviewAugmentations, and update listProjects() in the
vite adapter to surface block directories in the project list.

* fix(render): preserve studio drag/resize/rotation offsets in rendered video

Three issues caused studio-edited positions to be lost during rendering:

1. The seek-reapply script used setInterval to wrap window.__hf.seek, but
   Puppeteer's page.evaluate() calls don't yield the event loop for
   macrotasks — the interval never fired, so reapplyAll() never ran after
   GSAP seeks. Fix: use Object.defineProperty to trap writes to the seek
   property, wrapping it synchronously the instant the bridge assigns it.

2. MEDIA_VISUAL_STYLE_PROPERTIES (copied from <video> to proxy <img>
   during render) included "transform" but not "translate", "rotate", or
   "scale" — the CSS Transforms Level 2 individual properties used by
   studio drag/resize/rotation. The proxy was positioned at offsetLeft/
   offsetTop without the translate offset.

3. getViewportMatrix (HDR compositor) only read cs.transform, missing
   individual transform properties entirely. Added composeIndividualTransforms
   to build the translate × rotate × scale matrix and compose it before
   the legacy transform matrix.

* fix(studio): select elements with pointer-events: none in preview

Compositions often set pointer-events: none on scenes, avatar wrappers,
and decorative layers. elementsFromPoint() skips these elements entirely,
making them unselectable in the Studio. Fix: temporarily inject a
* { pointer-events: auto !important } stylesheet during hit-testing, then
remove it immediately after.

Also adds a pointer_events_none lint rule (info severity, visible with
--verbose) so authors know which selectors may affect Studio selection.

Studio manual editing and timeline editing mutate project files directly, but those edits had no reliable undo/redo path. Before releasing manual editing, users need a way to recover from visual property changes, source-editor saves, timeline moves/resizes/deletes, and timeline asset drops.

The history also needs to survive a page refresh. A refresh should not erase the only way back from a bad manual edit.

- Adds a persistent per-project edit-history model for file snapshots.
- Stores undo/redo stacks in IndexedDB so history survives Studio refreshes.
- Records source editor saves, manual DOM edits, and timeline mutations.
- Adds toolbar undo/redo buttons with standard keyboard shortcuts: `Cmd/Ctrl+Z`, `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Z`, and `Ctrl+Y`.
- Validates current file hashes before applying undo/redo so external file changes do not silently overwrite newer content.

Studio previously treated every editor mutation as an immediate file write. Manual DOM editing, timeline updates, and source-editor saves each had separate write paths, so there was no common transaction boundary where Studio could capture the file contents before and after an edit.

Undo/redo needed to sit above those write paths as a file-level transaction system: capture changed files before saving, write the new contents, persist the history entry by project, then apply undo/redo only when the current file content still matches the expected snapshot.

* fix: align Studio capture with preview (#595)

Studio frame capture could fail for projects mounted outside the repo when the project id came from an encoded hash route. A project like `Notion Showcase` loaded as `#project/Notion%20Showcase`, but the capture URL encoded that already-encoded value again, producing `/api/projects/Notion%2520Showcase/...` and a 404.

While validating the fix by seeking through the preview, capture also diverged from the visible player for nested compositions because the thumbnail route sought raw timelines instead of the same player seek path used by Studio preview.

- Decodes project ids when reading Studio `#project/...` routes and centralizes project hash/API path construction.
- Keeps API URLs encoded exactly once, including project names with spaces, literal `%`, reserved characters, and unicode.
- Updates Studio thumbnail capture to prefer `window.__player.seek(t)` and only fall back to raw timeline seeking for standalone pages.
- Preserves explicit `t=0` thumbnail requests instead of falling back to `0.5` seconds.
- Adds preview-regression CI coverage for Studio routing, frame capture URL construction, thumbnail seeking, and core thumbnail seek parsing.

Studio treated the hash route segment as the canonical project id even when the browser had already percent-encoded it. `buildFrameCaptureUrl` then encoded that string again, so a decoded project directory name and the capture API path no longer matched.

The preview/capture mismatch was a separate seek-path issue: the visible Studio preview seeks through the HyperFrames player, which maps global time into nested composition time. The capture route bypassed that layer and paused all registered timelines at the same global time.

The zero-second capture case came from parsing `t` with a truthiness fallback, so `parseFloat("0") || 0.5` became `0.5`.

Pre-commit also reran lint, format, and typecheck successfully for the committed files.

Using `agent-browser`, I mounted `/Users/miguel07code/Downloads/Notion Showcase` into Studio's project data and opened:

Before the fix, Capture requested `/api/projects/Notion%2520Showcase/thumbnail/index.html?...` and Studio showed `Capture failed`.

After the fix, I sought the preview to `0s`, `2s`, `10s`, and `18s`, captured each frame, and compared the visible preview crop against the capture output. The capture URLs all used `Notion%20Showcase`, not `Notion%2520Showcase`, and no failure toast appeared.

Mean pixel diffs for preview vs capture were:

- `0s`: `0.0`
- `2s`: `0.8641`
- `10s`: `0.3496`
- `18s`: `0.2309`

The small non-zero diffs are raster/antialias-level differences after resizing the capture to the preview crop dimensions.

- Browser screenshots, comparison sheets, network logs, and the `agent-browser` recording are local-only under `qa-artifacts/capture-button/` and are not committed.
- The local Notion Showcase project mount is an ignored symlink under `packages/studio/data/projects/` and is not committed.
- Thumbnail cache versions were bumped so stale captures generated with the old seek behavior are not reused.

   webAudio.isActive() as outputMuted so HTML elements stay muted when
   Web Audio owns playback. Also removed the priorMuted restore in
   stopAll() which raced with the next play cycle.

2. **Manifest polling loop**: applyStudioManualEditsToPreview and
   applyStudioMotionToPreview unconditionally fetched from disk on every
   call, even without forceFromDisk. The runtime posts state messages
   every frame via postMessage, triggering React re-renders that re-invoked
   these functions ~60x/second. Fixed by returning early when no disk read
   is requested, and using refs instead of callbacks in useEffect deps.

3. **Parent proxy double-play**: the player web component created parent-frame
   audio proxies even when the runtime bridge was available, causing two
   audio sources on autoplay-blocked promotion. Fixed by skipping proxy
   creation when _hasRuntimeBridge returns true, and synchronously muting
   iframe media on promotion to close the async race window.

Also fixes pre-existing ResolutionPreset type missing square variants.

filesize exclusion for useDomEditSession.

* feat(studio): add 4 domain contexts (PanelLayout, FileManager, DomEdit, Studio)

Create context providers that wrap hook return values for prop-drilling
elimination. Each context destructures and reconstructs the value inside
useMemo so exhaustive-deps is satisfied and re-renders are minimized.

Not yet wired into App.tsx — that comes in a follow-up.

Upgrade react and react-dom from 18.3 to 19.2.6 across the workspace.
Add resolutions/overrides in root package.json to prevent peer

Regenerate bun.lock.

This enables the React 19 context syntax (<Context value={...}>)
used by the new domain contexts.

* fix(studio): refresh preview after z-index change so stacking updates visually

* fix(studio): remove duplicate duration override causing oscillation

The timeline message handler set the duration twice: once via
processTimelineMessage and once via a raw durationInFrames override.
When drilled into a sub-composition, these could disagree, causing
the duration to oscillate after element deletion.

* fix(studio): use in-place iframe reload after clip delete, remove confirm dialogs

Two changes to fix duration oscillation after deleting a timeline clip:

1. Replace setRefreshKey (full Player remount) with in-place
   iframe.contentWindow.location.reload() after deleting a clip.
   The full remount triggered a chaotic re-probing cycle with multiple
   duration sources (adapter, manifest, postMessage) fighting each
   other, causing the timeline to oscillate between durations.
   In-place reload preserves the Player web component and its state.

2. Remove window.confirm dialogs from both timeline clip delete and
   DOM element delete. Undo is available so the confirmation adds
   friction without value.

syncTimelineElements was called 60+ times per page load, each time
triggering setElements/setDuration/setTimelineReady even when nothing

The monolithic PropertyPanel.tsx exceeded the 500 LOC filesize limit.
Split into cohesive modules by responsibility:

- propertyPanelPrimitives.tsx (357) — CommitField, MetricField, DetailField,
  SliderControl, SegmentedControl, SelectField, Section
- propertyPanelColor.tsx (371) — ColorField, ColorSlider
- propertyPanelFill.tsx (421) — ImageFillField, GradientField, asset path helpers
- propertyPanelFont.tsx (455) — FontFamilyField + font catalog helpers
- propertyPanelSections.tsx (453) — TextSection, TextFieldEditor, text controls
- propertyPanelStyleSections.tsx (411) — StyleSections (stroke, effects, clip, fill)
- PropertyPanel.tsx (347) — main component, LayerTree, re-exports for consumers

All re-exports from PropertyPanel.tsx preserved for backwards compatibility.
No behavioral changes — pure structural split.

* fix(studio): use in-place iframe reload for all timeline operations

Replace setRefreshKey with in-place iframe reload for move, resize,
and asset drop — matching delete which was already fixed. Prevents
the Player remount probe cycle that causes duration oscillation.

* perf(studio): replace 5s polling loop with event-driven adapter init

The Player's onIframeLoad used a setInterval polling loop (25 attempts
× 200ms = 5 seconds) to detect when the runtime's __player/__timeline
globals appeared. Each poll that missed triggered wasted work, and
multiple duration sources fighting during the probe cycle caused
oscillation bugs.

Replace with event-driven initialization:
1. Fast path: try initializeAdapter() immediately (works for in-place
   reloads where the adapter is already present)
2. If not ready, listen for the runtime's "state"/"timeline" postMessage
   signals and initialize on the first one
3. Single 5s timeout as safety net (replaces 25 interval ticks)

This eliminates the polling overhead, reduces setDuration/setElements
calls to exactly 1 per load, and makes the Player responsive within
one frame of the runtime being ready instead of up to 200ms later.

* fix(studio): prevent duration oscillation after element delete

Two fixes for the duration display oscillating between sub-composition
and master durations after deleting an element in the preview:

1. Clear store elements before iframe reload in handleDomEditElementDelete.
   Without this, stale pre-delete elements remain in the store and cause
   mergeTimelineElementsPreservingDowngrades to alternate between REPLACE
   and PRESERVE modes as the element count fluctuates.

2. Add 500ms cooldown on enrichMissingCompositions after timeline messages.
   The "state" handler was calling enrichMissingCompositions every ~80ms,
   which added extra elements from GSAP timelines. These fought with the
   authoritative element list from "timeline" messages (~333ms), creating
   a feedback loop where element count oscillated and triggered alternating
   merge strategies with different durations.

## Summary

Studio manual geometry edits now persist as a project-local manifest instead of being baked into composition source on each gesture.

The manifest lives at:

.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json
```

It is the source of truth for manual drag, resize, rotation, inspector geometry edits, group moves, and selected-layer reset.

## Architecture

- **Manifest-backed edits**: each edit stores a kind (`path-offset`, `box-size`, `rotation`), a source-scoped target, and the edit values.
- **Source-scoped resolution**: targets include `sourceFile`, `id`, `selector`, and `selectorIndex`, so duplicate selectors in nested compositions resolve against the owning source file.
- **Additive CSS layer**: move uses CSS `translate`, resize writes stable dimensions/flex sizing, and rotation uses CSS `rotate` over the authored base.
- **Shared replay runtime**: Studio preview, thumbnails, frame capture, producer renders, and CLI Studio renders/thumbnails all use the same core manual-edit render script.
- **Animation-safe replay**: Studio reapplies the manual layer after load, refresh, timeline seeks, player operations, playback frames, thumbnail seeks, and render seeks instead of rewriting GSAP timelines.
- **History and handoff**: the manifest is a normal project file, so undo/redo and agent edits can preserve, modify, or remove manual visual edits explicitly.

## User Impact

Users can move, resize, rotate, group-move, and reset supported layers from the canvas or inspector, then refresh, capture thumbnails/screenshots, play animated compositions, and render videos without manual edits drifting away from the edited state.
