fix(studio): make Delete remove the whole canvas selection (#3339)
* fix(studio): delete every clip in the selection, not just the first Select all in the timeline, press Delete, and one clip disappeared while the rest stayed — still drawn as selected. The Delete hotkey built the selection set correctly and then called `elements.find(...)`, which stops at the first match, and handed that single element to a handler that deletes exactly one. The comment above it claimed the handler "expands a clip that is part of the multi-selection into an atomic delete of the whole selection (single undo)" — no such expansion existed anywhere; `useTimelineEditing` never read `selectedElementIds`. `handleTimelineElementsDelete` takes the whole selection and removes every element before saving once, so the delete is a single history entry and a single undo — what the comment already promised. The hotkey layer now takes only that plural handler, since it never deletes one element in isolation; the singular entry point stays for the context menu and clip chrome. The store drops every deleted key and clears the marquee set, rather than leaving a selection drawn around clips that no longer exist. Elements whose `sourceFile` is not the composition being edited are dropped from the pass rather than written to the wrong file. Also removes the preview's double-click-to-reset-zoom. It was a document-level capture listener, so any double-click anywhere over the viewport snapped the zoom back to fit — including double-clicks meant for the content under it. The explicit reset control beside the zoom HUD stays. Reproduced by test: restoring `elements.find` reds the new marquee case. * fix(studio): delete every canvas element in the selection, not just the primary Selecting several elements on the canvas and pressing Delete removed one of them and left the rest — still drawn as selected. The delete path only ever took the primary selection; the marquee group it belongs to was ignored. Expand the session-level delete through the group ref, the same way the other group commits already do, and let the lifecycle op remove every member under a single save so one Undo restores the whole selection. * fix(studio): let the canvas selection own Delete instead of its timeline mirror Marquee-selecting elements on the canvas and pressing Delete removed a fraction of them. The hotkey routed to the timeline delete whenever the timeline store held anything, and the timeline's copy of a canvas selection is derived and lossy by construction — a member with no timeline row of its own is dropped from it. Selecting 73 elements published 14 ids, so 14 went and 59 stayed, still drawn as selected. The canvas selection is what the user drew the marquee around, so it owns Delete whenever it holds something; the timeline path stays as the fallback for rows with no canvas node to select. Both paths already remove through the same endpoint, so this is one addressing scheme replacing two. That makes the canvas delete the path a Delete press normally takes, so it picks up the same mid-recording refusal the timeline delete has. * fix(studio): let the marquee see the whole document, not the first 80 elements Dragging a marquee over the entire canvas selected a fraction of what it covered, so Delete left most of the page behind. The hit test sourced its candidates from the layers-panel collector, which stops after 80 items — a budget for how many rows that panel is willing to render, silently reused as if it described the document. Everything past the 80th element in document order was unselectable no matter where the user dragged. The off-canvas indicators were reading the same truncated list. The cap now belongs to the panel that wants it; the collector returns everything. To pay for that, the marquee measures its candidates once when the drag passes the threshold instead of re-reading layout for every element on every pointer-move: unbounded plus per-move stalled the tab outright, and the iframe DOM does not mutate mid-drag, so one pass stays true for the gesture. On a captured page: one marquee, one Delete, 734 elements down to 81. * fix(studio): report a no-op delete instead of claiming the elements went A target the file no longer holds answers `changed: false`, which is normal for a member nested inside another member already removed. Every target answering that is not — it means the preview is describing a document the file does not have, so each removal misses and the file is written back untouched. The toast still said "Deleted 503 elements. Use Undo to restore them." That is how a delete that did nothing at all looked from the outside: press Delete, the page stays, nothing on screen explains it. Say the preview is out of date and reload it instead. * fix(studio): keep the canvas hotkeys alive across preview reloads Pressing Delete with a canvas selection did nothing at all — no removal, no toast, nothing on screen to explain it. A keypress goes to whichever document has focus, and clicking the canvas puts focus inside the preview iframe, so the app's hotkeys have to be forwarded there. They were, but only from the iframe element's ref callback, which fires when the element mounts. A preview reload keeps the same element, so the callback never runs again, and keeps the same WindowProxy, so the forwarder's identity check saw no change and skipped re-attaching — while the inner window holding the listeners had been replaced. After the first reload the canvas had no app hotkeys left. Undo and redo kept working because their forwarder re-attaches on every load, which is why this read as "only Delete is broken". Fold the app handler into that per-load forwarder so both attach in the same place, on every load, and drop the mount-only one. Window only: the history pair also listens on the document, and capture listeners on both would run the app handler twice per press. * perf(studio): stop re-probing every restored selection member on load The hash carries the whole canvas selection, and restoring it asked the server whether each member still exists in the source — one request per member, awaited one after another. A marquee over a captured page puts hundreds of members in the URL, so every later load of that URL spent hundreds of serial round trips rebuilding the selection before the canvas answered anything, keypresses included. The marquee that produced those members already skips the probe. Restoring them skips it too; only the primary, whose panel reads the flag, still pays for one. * fix(studio): delete a canvas selection in one pass and say the key landed Reproduced with a real, focus-routed keypress instead of a synthetic one: the press does reach the handler and the delete does run to completion, but at hundreds of members it takes seconds during which the canvas is unchanged and nothing acknowledges the key. Silence for that long is indistinguishable from Delete being broken, and pressing it again or reloading mid-flight lands in a worse state. Two things, one per cause. The removal now sends the whole selection in a single request against a new remove-elements route, which reads the file once, drops every member and writes once — it was a round trip AND a full rewrite of the file per element. And a multi-element delete announces itself before the work starts, so the press is visibly acknowledged instead of leaving the canvas looking untouched until it finishes. Measured on a captured page, 84 members: 933ms of serial round trips against 84 rewrites, down to 583ms and one. * refactor(studio): narrow the SDK delete targets instead of asserting them The batch SDK path guarded on every member having an hfId and then asserted it away per member. Narrow once into a string list so the guard and the values come from the same place, and drop a threaded content variable that never changed — the SDK owns the document it edits, so every member is removed against the same starting content. Also mounts the new forwarding test through the existing harness rather than repeating its setup. * fix(studio): stop Delete acting on a canvas selection the user replaced Two things the reordered Delete arbitration got wrong, both found in review. A clip with no canvas node left the canvas selection pointing at whatever was picked before it, and the canvas branch wins whenever that ref is non-null — so selecting an audio clip and pressing Delete removed the previously selected canvas element and left the clip, right after the toast said the clip was not in the preview. The timeline fallback the comment described could not be reached. Clearing that selection has to stay quiet: the clear is announced to the timeline, so echoing it would deselect the clip that was just picked. Expanding the primary to the marquee group also moved out of the delete handler and up to the Delete key. Cut copies the primary alone, so expanding for every caller put one element on the clipboard and removed every other member with it — undo brought them back, paste restored one. The rule is a named function now, so the two callers can differ without either guessing. Also throttles the off-canvas indicator rebuild, which the cap had been hiding. It walks every element in the preview and reads layout for each — measured at 6.5ms on an 825-element captured page against a 16.7ms frame — and what marks it dirty is a MutationObserver on inline style, which is how animation writes. * fix(studio): hold the canvas selection inside the timeline selection The stale-canvas-selection defect survived at the second writer. The store-driven sync bails when a member has not resolved yet and returned without touching the canvas, so a pick with no canvas node at all left the previous selection in place — and Delete acts on the canvas first, so it deleted that. Reachable from the sidebar audio and asset reveals and from an asset drop, none of which go through the handler already fixed. Clearing on every bail would be wrong: the bail exists for a member whose node is not ready, which a later run resolves, and clearing there would flicker. Only a canvas anchor that resolves OUTSIDE the current selection goes, which is the state that is dangerous rather than merely unfinished. Quietly, for the same reason as the first writer: announcing would deselect the clip just picked. The invariant is named now, since Delete depends on it: the canvas selection never points outside the current timeline selection. Also drops the x-hf-removed header, which nothing read and whose comment promised a partial-vs-no-op distinction the response cannot make, and pins the indicator throttle that was measured but uncovered. |

feat(studio): automate a parameter without reloading the preview (#3025)
* feat(core): audio FX registry One declarative description of every effect that can be applied to an audio track: fourteen across filters, dynamics, non-linear and time, each exposing its full parameter surface rather than a curated subset. Parameters carry the range, step, unit and scale a control needs, so a panel can generate its UI from this rather than hard-coding a form per effect, and a value that survives `normalizeAudioFxParams` is always safe to realise. Everything is declared in the units a person thinks in — dB, ms, Hz. Parsing rejects an unknown effect id rather than skipping the node. A chain that quietly loses an effect renders something other than what was authored, which is worse than refusing to load it. Data only: no audio is produced here. The graph that realises each effect is referenced by the `web` id and lands in the next change, which keeps this module free of browser globals so the engine and the linter can import it. * fix(core): stop declaring knobs that move nothing Three parameters were declared with ranges, defaults and hints, and read by no builder — dials an author could turn with no audible result. - `chorus.decay` and `bitcrush.aa`: removed. FFmpeg's chorus feeds a decay back into its delay line and a bitcrusher's anti-alias needs a real filter; adding either is new DSP, not a fix, so the honest move is to stop advertising them. - `lowshelf.q` / `highshelf.q`: removed. The Web Audio spec leaves Q unused for shelving filters, so the control moved nothing — and because the shared Q helper marks it automatable, an author could draw an envelope on it and hear nothing at all. `phaser.decay` and `gate.knee` stay: the first drives the sweep depth, and the second is now read by the gate's processor. A test asserts each of these directly, since the existing exposure invariant only checks that a flagged parameter reaches an AudioParam — a parameter the node then ignores passes it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(core): Web Audio graphs for the FX registry One graph builder per `web` id, turning the registry's declarations into running audio. Every node exposes `update`, so turning a dial re-parameterises the live graph rather than rebuilding it: an AudioParam change lands on the next 128-sample quantum, about 2.7 ms at 48 kHz. `buildFxChain` reports whether an update could be applied in place — adding or bypassing an effect, or switching a filter between one and two poles (which changes the node type from BiquadFilterNode to IIRFilterNode), changes the graph's shape and returns false so the caller rebuilds. Four effects have no native node and run as AudioWorklet processors: compressor, limiter, gate and bitcrush. The module is registered from a data: URL rather than a blob:, because a blob inherits the page origin and is opaque on a file:// page, where it fails with an unhelpful AbortError. Reverb has no single node either. `synthesizeReverbImpulse` generates a tail from the room parameters, seeded so the same room sounds the same on every machine, and the ConvolverNode uses it. Tests cover the wiring — which nodes get built, how they connect, parameter application and clamping, in-place update versus rebuild, disposal — against a fake AudioContext, since happy-dom has no Web Audio. * fix(core): reverb level, phaser wiring, per-channel dynamics, one-pole rebuild Four defects in the graph builders, all found by review rather than by ear. **Reverb was unusable at its own defaults.** A ConvolverNode applies the impulse's gain whole — the graph sets `normalize = false` so a room is deterministic rather than browser-defined — but the impulse was raw decaying noise. Measured L2 at the registry default (size 0.7 / damping 0.5): 46.4, or +33.3 dB, putting the wet path ~24 dB over dry at the default `wet: 0.35`. It is now normalised to unit energy, so the wet knob means what it says. Preview and render both convolve this buffer, so they stayed identical throughout — equally deafening before, equally correct now. **Phaser in_gain/out_gain trim the signal entering and leaving the effect**, not a wet/dry pair. Wired to the wet and dry legs, "Input" muted the dry path and the two defaults summed to 1.14, so inserting a phaser raised the track level. They are now input and output trims with the legs summed at unity. Its declared waveform is also honoured: `lfo.type` was never assigned, so the default "Triangular" was silently a sine. **The dynamics worklets held one envelope across a channel-major loop.** The followers advance per sample, so on stereo a 20 ms attack behaved as 10 ms, and the right channel's gain came from an envelope that had already traversed the left — the two ducked differently from the same input and the image pumped. State is now per channel, as is the gate's smoothed gain and bitcrush's sample-hold counter, which previously advanced only on the last channel and left every earlier one frozen for a whole quantum. The gate also honours the knee it declares instead of chattering on material sitting at the threshold. **A one-pole filter's cutoff was swallowed in preview.** Its coefficients are fixed at construction, so `update` cannot push a new frequency — but the shape signature carried only type and pole count, so a cutoff change looked like a values-only edit and went into a no-op updater. Preview kept filtering at the old frequency while the render used the new one: a preview/render divergence in exactly the two effects that do not use a BiquadFilterNode. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(engine): render audio FX in an OfflineAudioContext Reads `data-fx-chain` off an audio element and runs the chain over the trimmed WAV before volume automation is baked in — effects should see the raw signal, and the envelope belongs on their output. The processing happens in an OfflineAudioContext inside the headless browser the engine already drives, running the same graph builders the studio previews with. That is the point of the approach: one implementation per effect, so the render agreeing with the preview is a property of the architecture rather than a tolerance to police. Reimplementing each effect as an FFmpeg filter would mean two implementations to keep in step, and for the dynamics processors and modulated delays there is no filter that behaves the same way. `build:audio-fx-runtime` bundles the graph builders into an injectable IIFE, following the same pattern as the existing runtime artifacts, so the browser runs exactly the code the studio does. The page loads from a file:// URL rather than about:blank because AudioWorklet is only exposed in a secure context — the compressor, limiter, gate and bitcrush processors would otherwise fail to register with an opaque error. file:// qualifies and needs no listening socket. The chain is serialised into the attribute the way colour grading carries its config, so there is no side-car file to resolve or lose. An FX failure is fatal for the whole mix rather than a per-track soft failure. Every other audio failure mode degrades gracefully — the track drops, siblings continue — but substituting the dry signal for a processed one ships a render that sounds plausible and is not what the author set up. Since the per-element work races under Promise.all, an internal AbortController chained off the caller's signal aborts in-flight siblings before workDir is removed. * feat(core): voiceover carve analysis Finds the bands a voice occupies so a music bed can be dipped there, letting the voice sit in front without ducking the whole track. Carve is a relationship between two tracks rather than an effect on one, so it stays out of the FX chain. What it emits is an ordinary chain of peaking filters, so a carve composes with whatever else is on the track and needs no separate rendering path. Selection is weighted toward intelligibility rather than raw voice energy. Ranking purely by power lands on the fundamental almost every time, because that is where a voice is loudest — but the masking that actually hurts a voiceover happens higher up, and dipping 160 Hz mostly just thins the bed. The bias is a control, not a constant: at 0 it follows raw energy, at 1 it weights toward 1-3 kHz. Ranking happens in dB, which matters more than it looks. Speech spreads 20-30 dB across these bands — it falls off roughly 6 dB per octave above the fundamental — so a weighting has to be on that scale to move anything at all. A multiplicative weight of `1 - bias + bias * shaped` is bounded below by `1 - bias`, capping its influence at 10*log10(1/(1 - bias)): 5.2 dB at the 0.7 default, 3 dB at 0.5. That is no influence against a real voice — every bias short of ~0.95 would rank exactly like bias 0 and carve the fundamental, the outcome the bias exists to prevent, while looking decisive against a fixture whose bands sit 2 dB apart. So the bias is a dB penalty, zero at 2 kHz and worth up to 30 dB at full strength, and relative cut depths come from a dB difference rather than a ratio of weighted linear powers. The bias reweights ranking without overriding the spectrum — a band the voice has no energy in is not worth carving, and scores -Infinity rather than competing — so a strongly low-pitched voice can still select low at full bias. What the tests hold is that biasing never selects lower than the unbiased ranking, that the DEFAULT bias reaches the presence region on a voice with a realistic tilt, and that bias 0 still follows raw power exactly. Includes a radix-2 FFT rather than a dependency; one Welch-style averaged spectrum over third-octave bands does not justify pulling in a DSP library. * fix(engine): keep the FX render 16-bit, stereo, and correctly sized Three defects in the offline FX path, none of which any test could see. **Float output silently disabled sample-accurate volume automation.** The writer emitted 32-bit IEEE float; the very next mixer step bakes the volume envelope into the samples and accepts only 16-bit PCM, returning null otherwise. So enabling any effect downgraded that track to the ffmpeg expression path — capped at 32 straight segments, quantising a curved envelope, and on a dense one falling back to base volume. It now writes 16-bit PCM, clamped rather than wrapped so a limiter at 0 dB or a resonant filter cannot turn overshoot into a click. A test asserts the baker accepts the writer's own output and actually fades it. **Everything was folded to mono.** `prepareAudioTrack` goes out of its way to emit stereo — its pan filter exists to dodge ffmpeg's 3 dB mono-to-stereo rematrix — and this folded it, then wrote one channel. So adding a single peaking EQ collapsed a bed's width and cost ~3 dB in the render, while preview stayed stereo. Channels now travel as one plane each, through an OfflineAudioContext of the same width, and come back interleaved. **Small results decoded the wrong length.** `new Float32Array(buf.buffer)` discards byteOffset and byteLength, and Node pools small allocations: a 400-byte payload sits at offset 8 inside an 8 KiB pool, so a clip under ~1024 samples decoded as 2048 samples of unrelated memory — and the empty-result guard could not see it. The reader has the mirror-image fix: a float data chunk on an odd boundary (ffmpeg's pcm_f32le writes fmt(18) + fact, landing `data` at 58) now copies instead of throwing RangeError on an unaligned view. The tail limitation is now stated rather than mis-stated: the context is exactly as long as the input, so a reverb or delay still ringing is cut there. The old comment claimed the opposite. How far a tail may run past a clip's end changes the clip's length in the mix, so it is a product decision, not one to make here. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(producer): report an FX render failure as an audio error `processCompositionAudio` reports per-track failures in its result, but an FX failure it cannot degrade past — a browser that will not launch, a chain that will not build — rejects instead. `runAudioStage` had no try, so that rejection escaped to the orchestrator as an unclassified pipeline exception, losing the stage/owner/retryable classification this stage exists to attach, and skipping its abort check on the way out. It now lands in `audioError` alongside every other cause, while an abort still keeps its own shape rather than being reported as an audio problem. Not done here: committing the generated `audio-fx-runtime-inline.ts` so a fresh clone typechecks packages/engine without building first. The bundle is built from the stub, and the stub changes three times across this stack — so the artifact differs per branch and would conflict on every restack. Its model, position-edits-render-inline.ts, is committed only because it is stable. Building before testing is this monorepo's existing contract (studio's tests need core's dist too), so the gap is not specific to audio FX and is better closed by a build ordering gate than by committing a per-branch artifact. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(engine): skip the browser FX render cases when there is no browser CI's `Test` job was red on this PR with four failures, all the same cause: Failed to launch the browser process: spawn /home/runner/.cache/hyperframes/chrome/chrome-headless-shell The job installs ffmpeg and no browser, deliberately — every other suite that needs an external binary already guards on it (`describe.skipIf(!HAS_FFMPEG)`). These cases were the only ones assuming a Chrome, so they failed on an absent dependency rather than on anything about the code. Guards on `resolveHeadlessShellPath()` — the same resolver `acquireBrowser` launches through, so the check cannot drift from the thing it guards the way a hard-coded cache path would. A configured path that does not exist throws; that is caught and read as "cannot run here". Checked both directions rather than just the green one: with a browser all 11 cases run and pass, and with `HYPERFRAMES_BROWSER_PATH` pointed at a missing binary exactly 3 skip and the other 8 still run. A guard that silently skipped everything would have looked identical in CI. They keep their value where it exists — every developer machine, and any job that has run `hyperframes browser ensure`. Not touched: the CodeQL failure on this PR is a run from 2026-08-07, five days and several force-pushes stale. None of the 17 open repo alerts are in files this PR changes; it re-runs on this push. * chore(engine): suppress the temp-file alert with the reason it is safe CodeQL flags `writeWav`'s `writeFileSync` as js/insecure-temporary-file (high) — the one new alert on #3021, and the reason its CodeQL check is red. It is a false positive, and the comment says why rather than just silencing it: `path` is always inside a directory made by `mkdtempSync`, never a name assembled directly under `tmpdir()`. Both callers are covered — the browser host page writes into `mkdtempSync(join(tmpdir(), "hf-fx-host-"))`, and the render output goes to the producer work dir, itself `mkdtempSync(join(tempRoot, "producer-project-"))`. mkdtemp picks the random suffix and creates the directory 0700 in one syscall, so the predictable filename inside it cannot be pre-created or symlinked by another user, which is the attack the rule is about. The analyzer sees the dataflow reach `tmpdir()` and not the mkdtemp in between. Suppressed inline rather than dismissed in the UI, so the justification lives next to the code and the rule stays live for anything added later in this file. Matches the repo's existing convention — `planV2.ts:222` carries an `lgtm[js/insecure-temporary-file]` for a different reason on the same rule. Correcting myself: I first reported this alert as not real, having intersected the PR's files against the default-branch alert list, which does not contain PR-ref alerts. Querying ?ref=refs/pull/3021/merge returns it straight away. * feat(core): register the audio-fx-rack canary at 0% Lands the rollout switch dark, per the registry's own procedure: "Start at percentage: 0 and merge that — a canary at 0 is dead code you can land safely and ramp without a code review." Declared at the bottom of the stack so every branch above can read it. The gate itself goes in at wa-4-fx-panel, where the rack first appears. Scope is deliberate and stated in the description: it gates the AUTHORING surface only. A composition that already carries `data-fx-chain` still plays and renders it. A canary should stage who can REACH a feature, not make an attribute somebody already wrote silently inert — an agent that writes a chain through the skill would otherwise produce a file whose audio processing vanishes with no error. * feat(studio): audio FX panel generated from the registry Controls for the whole chain: add, remove, reorder, bypass, and every knob each effect declares. Nothing in the panel knows what a compressor is. The registry supplies each parameter's range, step, unit and scale and the panel renders what it finds, so adding an effect or a knob upstream needs no change here, and the panel cannot offer a value the renderer would reject — a typed-in figure is clamped into the declared range on the way through. Frequency and time controls span three or four decades, so those declare a log scale and the slider maps exponentially; a linear slider would spend most of its travel somewhere useless. Reorder is a first-class control because chain order changes the sound: a reverb before a compressor is not the same as after. Carve gets its own block rather than an entry in the add menu, with a picker for the voice track to listen to. It processes this track based on another one, which is how a sidechain control works — it lives on the track that changes, and names the source. * feat(studio): show the Audio FX section on audio tracks Adds `audioFx` to the editing-affordances contract and renders the FX panel in the inspector when an `<audio>` element is selected. The section is audio-only. A `<video>` carries its sound on a separate `<audio>` element, so an FX chain on the video would have nothing to process. Chain and carve settings are written straight back onto the element as serialised attributes, the way colour grading carries its config, so persistence is an ordinary attribute write and needs no new server route. A chain that cannot be parsed renders as empty rather than breaking the panel, and the attribute is left untouched until the user changes something. The collapsed group summarises what is on the track ("2 effects + carve") so the state is visible without expanding it. Wired into PropertyPanelFlat rather than PropertyPanel: STUDIO_FLAT_INSPECTOR_ENABLED defaults to true, so the flat inspector is what actually renders. * refactor(studio): lift audioFxSummary out of PropertyPanelFlat `PropertyPanelFlat.tsx` is 612 lines here against the repo's 600-line cap, so the required File size check is red — the sole reason this PR is blocked. The review says as much: "mechanical fix (~5 min), not a design problem. Code itself is LGTM." Moves `audioFxSummary` to `audioFxSummary.ts`, the same file a later branch creates for it. Deliberately the smallest cut that clears the cap rather than the whole `AudioFxGroup` extraction: every later commit in the stack edits AudioFxGroup, so moving it here would collide with each of them, while almost nothing touches this function. 595 lines. * feat(studio): put the audio FX rack behind its canary Gates the rack on `isCanaryEnabled("audio-fx-rack")`, which is registered at 0% — so the whole 47-PR stack can land without showing anyone a feature that has not been measured yet. The gate sits on the AUTHORING surface and nowhere else. The runtime and the render still honour a `data-fx-chain` already on an element, so a composition written through the skill or by `carve.mjs` keeps its processing rather than going silently dry for anyone outside the cohort. A canary should stage who can REACH a feature, not make an attribute somebody already wrote stop working with no error. Gated at the panel rather than in `resolveEditingSections`: the affordance resolver is a pure function in core describing what an element CAN support, and rollout state is not a property of an `<audio>` tag. Pinned the 0% with a test, and checked it fails at 25 — a ramp should have to break something that says "this ships dark" out loud. One gap, stated rather than papered over: the gate itself has no unit test. I wrote one and deleted it, because `PropertyPanel.test.tsx`'s harness never renders the Audio FX group for its audio fixture even with the gate removed — so the test passed for the wrong reason in the off case and could not pass at all in the on case. A test that cannot fail for the right reason is worse than none. Verifying the gate needs the panel harness to mount that section first, which is its own change. * feat(core,studio): hear the FX chain in preview, and run the carve analysis Splices an element's FX chain into the playback graph so preview stops being silent about effects, and wires the carve button that was previously inert. The chain goes between the decoded source and its gain stage: effects see the raw signal and volume automation rides on their output, matching the order the offline render uses. Since preview and render call the same graph builders, what is heard while scrubbing is what gets written. The splice lives in the transport rather than on the `<audio>` element. The transport plays each track from a decoded AudioBuffer and mutes the element to avoid doubling, so capturing the element with createMediaElementSource would have processed a stream nothing is listening to — it looked like it worked because the call succeeded, and the audio was unchanged. A chain that cannot be built plays dry rather than silencing the track, which is the right failure in preview: the author keeps working and hears the source. The render still refuses, because shipping the dry signal there would be wrong. Carve now analyses for real: it decodes the chosen voice track, ranks its bands and writes the resulting peaking filters onto this track. Generated nodes are tagged `fromCarve`, so re-running replaces the previous carve instead of stacking another set on top of hand-added effects. Known limitation: the graph is built when a source is scheduled, so a knob turned mid-playback takes effect on the next play or seek rather than immediately. Live re-parameterisation needs the transport to hold the handle and forward updates. * fix(studio,core): stop parameter drags from restarting playback Dragging a knob wrote the chain through the persisting attribute path on every input event. That path refreshes the preview, which reloads the composition and reschedules audio — so a single drag reloaded dozens of times and playback stuttered the whole way. Drags now go through `onSetAttributeLive`, the same path colour grading uses for scrubs: it coalesces undo entries and sets `skipRefresh`, so no reload happens. The persisting write fires once, when the gesture ends — pointer-up or blur for a slider, Enter or blur for a typed value. A select commits immediately since there is no drag to wait for. While dragging, the control is driven from local state. Waiting for the value to round-trip through the element attribute made the knob lag behind the pointer. For the change to be audible without a reload, the graph now follows the attribute: the chain installed by the transport observes the element and re-parameterises itself in place, so a value change lands on the next 128-sample quantum. A shape change (effect added, bypassed, pole count) cannot be patched into a running graph, so it still waits for the next schedule rather than cutting the audio mid-play. The regression test drags a slider through several values and asserts the persisting handler is untouched until release. * fix(core): register FX worklets before building nodes that need them An AudioWorkletNode cannot be constructed before its processor is registered — it throws, and the surrounding chain is lost with it. `attachElementFxChain` built the chain first and only then called `ensureAudioFxWorklets`, so every worklet-backed effect (compressor, limiter, gate, bitcrush) threw on construction and the track fell back to dry. Instrumenting the preview showed `hf-compressor: InvalidStateError` with addModule never called at all. When the module has not landed yet the track now plays dry and the graph is swapped in once registration resolves, so the effect arrives a moment late instead of never. Registration is also tracked per context rather than in one module-level promise. A processor registered on one AudioContext does not exist on another, so the shared promise made every context after the first believe it was ready when it was not — the studio's transport owns its own context, which is exactly that case. With the worklets actually running, the compressor's per-sample log10 and pow became real audio-thread work. Samples below the knee have a gain of exactly unity and need neither, so the envelope is now compared in the linear domain and the transcendentals only run for samples that are actually being compressed. * refactor(studio): split the FX node row out of FxSection Clears the health findings the FX stack left behind: the chain-node render callback was a 70-line closure over half of FxSection's state, and the two reorder arrows were the same button written twice. Also drops two exports with no consumers, and registers the audio FX runtime stub as an entry point — it is bundled by file path, so nothing imports it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(studio): lift the audio FX group out of PropertyPanelFlat `PropertyPanelFlat.tsx` was 672 lines against the repo's 600-line cap, so the required File size check was red — the sole reason #3014 and #3022 are blocked. Both reviews say the same thing: "mechanical fix, not a design problem. Code itself is LGTM." Moves `AudioFxGroup` and `audioFxSummary` into `propertyPanelAudioFxGroup.tsx`, which is where a later branch puts them anyway — done here so the file is under the cap from the point it first crosses it, rather than ten branches later. 533 lines now. The four audio imports it no longer needs go with it. Not fixed here: three `FxSection carve` tests fail on this branch with "Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'toFixed')". Confirmed pre-existing by stashing this change and re-running — that is the separate `Test` failure the review also flags. * feat(core): automation envelope model for audio tracks Adds the data model behind Ableton-style automation lanes: breakpoint envelopes over track volume or one knob of one effect in the track's FX chain, stored on the element as `data-automation`. Times are clip-local, so an envelope travels with the clip when it moves — the clip-envelope model rather than arrangement automation. `sampleAutomationLane` is the single interpolator. The lane drawing, the preview scheduler and the render bake all call it, so the picture and the sound cannot disagree about the curve. Log-scaled parameters interpolate in log space, matching what their own knob already promises. FX nodes gain a stable `id`, minted by count rather than randomly so the document is the same on every machine. Lanes address nodes by id, so reordering a chain never re-points a lane at a different effect, and a lane whose effect was deleted is dropped rather than left to reattach. Also warns when a track carries both a volume lane and a GSAP volume tween, since only the lane is heard and the tween silently does nothing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(core): expose the AudioParams behind automatable FX knobs Marks the knobs an automation lane can drive and has each graph builder hand back the AudioParam behind them, so a scheduler can write to a running effect without knowing what the effect is. A knob is not always one AudioParam. A wet/dry mix is two gains moving in opposition, and a knob in milliseconds drives a delay time in seconds, so each target carries the mapping out of the knob's own declared unit. What stays unautomatable is stated where it is decided: a WaveShaper curve, a convolution impulse and a one-pole filter's coefficients are all rebuilt wholesale rather than scheduled, and the four worklet effects take values by postMessage rather than through AudioParams. The registry flag is written by hand, so a test builds every effect and checks the exposure both ways — nothing flagged is missing, nothing exposed is unflagged. A flag that lied would offer a lane that silently did nothing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(core): play automation envelopes in preview Schedules each lane onto the AudioParams behind its knob using native ramps and value curves. Nothing evaluates the envelope per frame: it is handed to the audio thread once, so it stays sample-accurate however busy the main thread is, and the offline render will schedule it the same way. Timing comes from the transport, so an envelope survives seeking into the middle of a clip, a clip that has not started yet, and a playback rate that compresses clip seconds into context seconds. A straight line is only scheduled as a ramp when nothing bends it — no curvature, a linear parameter scale, and no unit mapping. Log-scaled parameters and mapped ones are sampled instead, since a delay knob in milliseconds and a wet/dry pair moving in opposition are not linear in the parameter they drive. Lanes with nowhere to write are skipped rather than reported: a one-pole filter exposes no frequency param, and the worklet effects expose none at all. Editing an envelope mid-playback re-aims it at the live playhead rather than restarting the track. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(engine): bake automation envelopes into the render The offline render schedules FX lanes with the same scheduler preview uses, inside the OfflineAudioContext that already runs the same graph builders. The input WAV is the clip's own audio from its first sample, so clip-local time is offline time and the envelope needs no offset. Volume lanes take the existing PCM bake rather than a second mechanism: the lane is converted to keyframes, so a straight fade stays two of them and only a bent segment is sampled — the baker interpolates linearly and would otherwise quietly straighten the curve. A volume lane supersedes keyframes probed from the timeline, which `lint` already warns about. A browser test sweeps a lowpass from below a 2 kHz tone to well above it and measures both ends. Parsing the envelope is not the same as scheduling it, and only running the real thing tells the two apart. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(core): make the volume lane audible in preview The envelope was scheduled onto the transport's gain AudioParam, but the runtime rewrites that gain every tick from `data-volume` and the GSAP-seeked value — so it was erased within a frame. Volume automation was correct in the render and inaudible while previewing. The lane now feeds the per-tick path where the probed volume keyframes already sit, checked ahead of them so the two cannot fight, and the transport no longer schedules volume at all: one mechanism instead of two racing. The cost is honest — in preview the level steps per tick rather than per sample, exactly as the existing keyframe path does. The render still bakes it into the PCM sample-accurately, and FX parameters are still scheduled on their own AudioParams, since nothing rewrites those. Parsed lanes are cached by attribute text: the runtime asks once per tick per track, and parsing there would run the JSON parser 60 times a second for a value that only changes on an edit. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(core): apply chain edits to the running graph A structural edit — an effect added, removed, bypassed, or a filter's pole count switched — was dropped. `buildFxChain`'s update reports false when the change is not merely new values, and the attribute observer ignored that, so the edit only took hold when the persisting write reloaded the composition. That reload restarted every playing track, which is what was heard as the audio chopping. The graph is now swapped in place: the old effects are detached, the new ones built and connected between the same source and gain, and any lanes re-scheduled onto the new nodes. The source node is never touched, so playback does not restart. A track with no chain is watched too, rather than wired through and forgotten, so adding its first effect is heard the same way. That means the function always returns a disposer instead of null for the empty case. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(studio): the geometry and plumbing behind automation lanes Everything an automation lane needs before there is a lane to look at, kept apart from the component so the maths can be read and tested without a pointer. `automationLaneGeometry` is pure: which parameters a clip can automate (its fader, then each automatable knob of each effect that carries a node id), how a value maps to a position in the lane, and how a lane is edited. Two decisions live here and are worth review: - A log-read knob maps on its own log scale, so the middle of a 100 Hz–20 kHz lane is the geometric mean. Dragging and drawing then agree with what the knob's own scale already promises. - `withLane` replaces a lane in place rather than appending. A lane with no explicitly chosen parameter shows whichever comes first, so moving the edited one to the end would switch the lane out from under the pointer on the first edit. `automationLaneData` parses the two attributes, cached by their text so the identity only changes when the text does — the lane holds an optimistic draft while a point is dragged and compares against that identity, and a fresh object on every playhead tick would throw the drag away. It binds automation to the chain the way preview and the render bind it, so a lane whose effect was deleted is dropped rather than drawn against the wrong axis. `useAutomationLanes` routes edits through the DOM edit session, targeting the selected element because that is what the attribute commit path writes to. Row height reserves each lane at its own height rather than counting it as another keyframe lane, and `TimelinePropertyLanes` gains a footer slot so the lanes share the keyframe disclosure — and its `aria-controls`. `TimelineElement` moves to its own module: playerStore had reached the 600-line studio ceiling exactly and could not carry another field. It is re-exported from there, so no importer changes. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) * fix(studio): make automationLaneData reviewable, and evict one entry not all The cache key held a literal NUL byte instead of its escape, so git classified the whole module as binary: it landed as `Bin 0 -> 2677 bytes` with zero diffable lines, invisible to review, to grep, and to any textual merge. The escape is behaviour-identical. With the file readable, two things in it needed fixing. Eviction cleared the entire map. Clearing changes the identity of every lane's automation at once, and a lane compares its drag draft against that identity — so one unrelated element arriving at the limit would release an in-progress drag and snap the point back. It now drops the oldest entry, and a hit is re-inserted so it counts as recently used. Nothing tested this module, which is what let the binary blob through. Now covered: identity stability, re-parsing when the chain changes but the automation text does not, a hot entry surviving 40 evictions, and an unreadable attribute reading as nothing. The geometry module's exports are ignored for dead-code while its consumer sits one PR upstack, following the convention already used for the fast-capture stack. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): carry the audio FX attributes onto every timeline row Both element builders read `data-fx-chain` and `data-automation` off the host element, and an expanded sub-composition child is built without one — so an audio track inside a sub-composition reserved no automation height and drew no lanes, while the property panel, which reads the live DOM selection rather than the row, still showed its chain and its toggles. `hostElementState` exists to re-inherit exactly this class of host-only field; it now covers these two alongside `hidden`, `timelineLocked` and `timelineRole`. `parseTimelineFromDOM` had the same gap and now reads both directly. Also exempts the offline FX render's browser entry from the health gate: it runs only inside the headless page the engine drives, so its CRAP score is coverage-driven rather than complexity-driven, and its behaviour is covered by the engine's real-browser render tests. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(studio): the automation lane itself Draws each automated parameter as its own lane under the audio clip, on the same disclosure caret the keyframe lanes use — that caret is the DAW automation triangle. One lane per parameter rather than a selector to swap between them, so two envelopes can be read and edited without hiding either. Double-click the line to add a point, drag to shape it, right-click a point to remove it. Three things here took more than one attempt, and the comments say why: - **A dragged point did not move.** The live write deliberately skips the preview refresh — that is what keeps dragging from restarting playback — so the stored value does not move under the pointer. The lane keeps a local draft. - **Releasing snapped it back.** The draft was dropped when the drag ended, which is before the persisted write comes around; it now lives until the automation it was drawn over actually changes. - **A press was eaten.** Not stopping propagation let the timeline start its own gesture and swallow the second half of a double-click. The lane owns the press once it is live — and when it is not, it selects its clip instead, since lanes sit below the clip bar where the timeline's own selection handler never sees them. The envelope is inset by the grab radius so a point at the clip's first or last frame is drawn whole rather than half outside the lane, and clip time still lines up with screen position because the inset and the offset cancel. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) * fix(studio): let a track disclose its automation without a tween The lane was mounted inside the property-lanes wrapper, which renders only for a track's GSAP keyframe clip — so an audio clip with no tween resolved to nothing: no disclosure caret, no reserved height, no lanes. Verified on a composition with one `<audio>`, an envelope, and no tweens anywhere: 0 carets, 0 lanes. The attribute still wrote and the render still baked it, so the feature failed silently for exactly the tracks it exists for. Same composition now: 1 caret, and expanding it draws the Volume lane. Automation counts as something to disclose. `resolveTrackKeyframeClip` takes a counter alongside the keyframe lane counts and qualifies a clip on either; the header asks the same counter about the clip it already holds. A function rather than another map threaded through the props: every caller then reads one cached parse, so the height a row reserves and the lanes drawn in it cannot drift apart. That drift is also fixed for the lane's own offset, which passed the raw tween count where every other consumer uses distinct property groups. Two tweens on one property drew one keyframe lane but pushed the automation lane down by two, spilling into the next track; one tween on two properties did the inverse and drew it over a diamond lane, stealing its pointer events. It now reads the same `laneCounts` map the reserved height and the drawn lanes use. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(studio): automate a parameter without reloading the preview The write path and the volume half of the panel surface. **A commit that persists without reloading.** For attributes the runtime applies to the live graph itself — an FX chain, its automation — a reload would only interrupt playback to reach the state the preview already has. `skipRefresh` and `refreshAfter` were already independent options; this exposes the combination that skips the reload but still re-reads the selection. Both halves are needed, and they were fighting each other. Without the reload, audio no longer chops on an edit. Without the resync, the panel keeps reading the selection snapshot it was built with, so a second edit computes from a pre-edit value and appears to do nothing — deleting one effect made every later delete a no-op. `handleDomAttributeLiveCommit` is untouched and still used for knob dragging, where a per-move re-render is exactly what you do not want. **Volume.** An automated track's slider is disabled, since a level set there would be overwritten by the envelope on the next tick, and the toggle beside it adds or deletes the lane. Adding seeds it with a single point at the level the slider already shows, so automating a track never changes how loud it is. **One shared reader** for both panel sections, which is what surfaced that resolving against an absent chain would have deleted every FX lane the moment someone automated a volume: the volume section does not parse the chain, so "no chain" now means "do not resolve" rather than "drop what cannot be resolved". The toggle itself lives with the FX controls it is shared with, and says `Automated` / `Automate` through the studio's own Tooltip rather than a native browser hover. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) * fix(studio): stop the last two automation writes reloading the preview The quiet commit added here was only used by the FX group. Two writers still went through the refreshing one, so they reloaded the preview and restarted every playing track — the exact chop the live write during a drag exists to avoid: - releasing a dragged breakpoint, so the audio hitched at the end of every point you moved; - clicking the volume toggle, while the same click on an effect parameter was already silent. Both are quiet now: still persisted, still resyncing the selection so a following edit computes from the value just written. Also fixes the seeded volume. `Number(dataAttributes.volume ?? "1")` is 0 for an attribute that is present but empty, so automating such a track started its lane at silence while the engine read the same empty value as unity. * test(engine): probe ffmpeg and Chrome instead of assuming them Two failures on #3021's Test job, both about the environment rather than the code under test. **Bare `ffmpeg` is not on PATH in CI.** The 16-bit fixture shelled out to `execFileSync("ffmpeg", ...)` and died with ENOENT. The job does provide ffmpeg, through `prepare-ffmpeg-bin`, which is what `getFfmpegBinary()` resolves — every other ffmpeg-dependent suite in this package already goes through it. Now this one does too, and the case is `skipIf(!HAS_FFMPEG)` so a contributor without ffmpeg skips rather than fails. **The browser guard trusted the wrong thing.** It asked `resolveHeadlessShellPath()` and treated a returned path as "a browser is here". CI's cache holds a chrome-headless-shell that resolves and then fails to spawn — a partial download is indistinguishable from a working one by `existsSync`, which is all that resolver checks. So the three browser cases ran anyway and failed on the launch. It now runs `--version` and requires exit 0, which is the same probe the ffmpeg suites use: ask the binary, do not infer from the filesystem. Checked both directions rather than just the green one. With a working browser all 11 cases run and pass; with `HYPERFRAMES_BROWSER_PATH` pointed at a binary that exits non-zero — CI's exact situation — exactly 3 skip and the other 8 still run. A guard that quietly skipped everything would have looked identical on the CI summary. 595 lines. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(core): automation envelope model for audio tracks Adds the data model behind Ableton-style automation lanes: breakpoint envelopes over track volume or one knob of one effect in the track's FX chain, stored on the element as `data-automation`. * feat(core): expose the AudioParams behind automatable FX knobs Marks the knobs an automation lane can drive and has each graph builder hand back the AudioParam behind them, so a scheduler can write to a running effect without knowing what the effect is. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): drop the FX panel's dead __testables export Fallow audit flagged it — no test imports the module. * fix(core,studio): clear the remaining Fallow audit findings on the FX panel - Split FxSection's per-node row into FxNodeRow + FxNodeControls so the CRAP score (31.6, threshold 30) splits across two smaller units instead of moving wholesale with one extraction. - Dedupe the repeated "open the add menu, read its items" block in propertyPanelFxSection.test.tsx into openAddMenuItems(). - Merge build-audio-fx-runtime.ts and build-position-edits-render.ts into one build-inline-artifact.ts, config-selected by CLI arg — the two scripts were a byte-for-byte clone save for names. - Exempt canary.test.ts's rawFnv (a deliberate independent reimplementation used to cross-check canaryBucket, per its own docstring) and the property-panel test files' shared renderInto/mount scaffolding (pre-existing across 9 files, 2 outside this stack) in .fallowrc.jsonc, consistent with this file's existing exemptions for the same class of intentional/pre-existing duplication. * fix(ci): allowlist the build-script consolidation in the no-main-deletions guard build-audio-fx-runtime.ts and build-position-edits-render.ts were merged into build-inline-artifact.ts to kill a fallow duplication finding; the deletion guard flagged that as an accidental loss since main still has both originals. * fix(core): dedupe the wet/dry mix math between delayFeedback and chorusLfo Both effect builders set wet.gain to the mix and dry.gain to its complement in identical two-line blocks; fallow kept re-flagging it as a 10-line clone on every unrelated change. Extracted setWetDryMix. * fix(core): remove the build-audio-fx-runtime.ts stray resurrected by a main merge An earlier merge with main brought this deleted file back (git's merge/delete handling on an unchanged-on-one-side file); package.json already points at build-inline-artifact.ts, so it sat unreachable and duplicating that file's config, both of which fallow flagged. * fix(studio): pull TimelineLanes under the 600-line cap TimelineLanes.tsx hit 620 lines. Extracted the three per-clip pointer gestures (resize-start, pointer-down move-arm, click/razor-split) into createClipGestureHandlers — one factory call per rendered clip instead of ~120 lines of inline handler bodies in the render loop. 529 lines now. * fix(studio): split the extracted pointerdown handler under the CRAP threshold Moving the ~120-line gesture logic into timelineClipGestureHandlers.ts concentrated it into two functions fallow flagged (onPointerDown at CRAP 63.6, onResizeStart at 31.6). Split the decision logic (which gesture a pointerdown implies) into a pure resolvePointerDownAction, then split its own intent-blocking check into isIntentBlocked. onResizeStart's guard moved into canStartResize. Every function now scores under 30. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(studio): edit and style text in the preview (#3143)
* feat(studio): edit and style text in the preview Double-press a text element in the canvas and the caret opens where you pressed, in the element itself rather than in a panel. Select characters and a small toolbar offers colour, bold, italic and underline, applied to exactly those characters. The toolbar lives in Studio's document rather than the composition's. Putting it in the preview would inject Studio's chrome into the user's composition, where a render would capture it and the composition's own styling would inherit into it. In a flex or grid container the rebuilt runs go inside one wrapper, so a coloured word cannot reflow the element it sits in. Also fixes the keyboard: the shortcut guards matched contenteditable=true only, so playback shortcuts ate letters typed into the composition. * refactor(studio): keep domEditingLayers under the size cap The rich-text operation pushed this file past the 600-line gate. Same change the branch made later, landed with the commit that caused it. * test(studio): wrap selection changes in act * fix(studio): restore rich text after failed save * fix(studio): polish inline text editing * fix(studio): harden inline text editing |

fix(studio): stop a Studio edit from reloading the preview (#3137)
* fix(studio): stop a Studio edit from reloading the preview as if it were external Every mutation route wrote the file without leaving a write receipt, so the watcher's broadcast of Studio's own edit arrived with no identity on it. The external-change coordinator could not tell that echo from an agent or an editor writing the file behind Studio's back, so it took the safe branch and did a full iframe reload. That reload hides the stage for the length of the reload, which is what the flash after a text edit was. Every mutation write now goes through one helper that records the receipt, and the client claims the write before the request goes out rather than after it: the server writes and the watcher fires while the request is still in flight, so a token marked from the response can arrive after the echo it was meant to match. Reproduced in the browser before and after, with the reload path traced end to end. Before, a patch-element write logged `token: null` then a reload from the coordinator; after, the same write logs the token and `suppressed: own write token`, with no reload. Adds `hf-reload-debug` (localStorage, off by default) alongside the existing `hf-resize-debug`: it records each file-change decision and its reason, plus the stack of whoever asked for a full reload. * fix(studio): claim the timeline and caption writes too, not just the DOM ones The receipt only helps when the client marked the token it sent, and the GSAP mutation writers never sent one. A drag commits through gsap-mutations, so the server minted a token the client had never seen, the change came back looking like someone else's, and the preview did the full reload the receipt was meant to prevent. Same one-line claim on both GSAP mutation writers, the timing sync's mutation call, and the caption auto-save PUT. The rollback call stays deliberately unclaimed and says why: it runs because a mutation did not converge, so the preview is on bytes nobody can vouch for and the reload is the point. Verified live: a drag-shaped update-properties on the timeline now logs `suppressed: own write token` with no reload, where it logged a coordinator reload before. * refactor(studio): keep timelineTimingSync under the size cap Claiming the timeline writes pushed this file one line past the 600-line gate. Same change as the branch made later, landed with the commit that caused it. * fix(studio): cover remaining write receipt paths * fix(studio): preserve batch write receipts * fix(cli): emit every file in a watcher burst |

fix(studio): shrink useDomEditCommits.ts under the file-size gate
CI's file-size check (which diffs against origin/main, not per-commit like the local lefthook gate) flagged useDomEditCommits.ts at 602 lines. Extracted the standalone atomic-patch-batch helpers (formatUnsafeFieldList, getErrorDetail, readErrorResponseBody, formatPatchRejectionMessage, patchElementBatches, batchesAreInlineStyleOnly, AtomicElementPatchConvergenceError) into useDomEditCommitsHelpers.ts — none of them close over hook state, so this is a pure move. useDomEditCommits.ts is now 451 lines. Typecheck/oxlint/oxfmt clean; useDomEditCommits.test.tsx (28 tests) and the full studio suite unaffected. |

fix(studio): atomic timing pin, expanded-list Hide All, repeated-host matching, pointercancel revert
Fixes real bugs from two independent re-reviews (#2225 @ 65954c3804, #2416 @ beaf4ffbf6): - FlatTimingRow's pinRange committed a pinned start+duration range through TWO sequential onSetAttribute calls. Each resolves domEditSelection fresh from current hook state, so a selection change between the two awaits could misdirect the second write at the newly-selected element instead of the one being edited, and a failure of just the second call left the pair half-applied (inconsistent inferred/explicit state). Added commitDataAttributes/handleDomAttributesCommit (mirroring onCommitAnimatedProperties's same-shaped fix for GSAP property batches): one PatchOperation[] persist call against an explicit, caller-supplied selection — not the "current" one — threaded through as the new optional onSetAttributes prop. pinRange uses it when provided, falls back to the old sequential behavior otherwise. - Hide All silently dropped nested sub-composition children: a selection inside a sub-comp with no timeline-store entry of its own resolves to a virtual `sourceFile#domId` key (the fallback branch exists so the expansion hook can later resolve it via clipParentMap), but toggleTimelineElementHidden only searched the RAW store list, which never contains that key. useTimelineElementVisibilityEditing now resolves against useExpandedTimelineElements() instead, matching the track-based toggle's existing approach — the expanded list synthesizes a real, patchable TimelineElement (matching key/domId/sourceFile) for each visible child whenever its host is currently expanded. - Two composition hosts importing the same sub-composition collapsed to the first one: findMatchingTimelineElementId ORed domId/selector/ compositionSrc matches with equal priority in a single per-element scan, so `.find()` could stop at an EARLIER, unrelated host that merely shared the compositionSrc, before the scan ever reached the correct domId/ selector match further down the list. Restructured to try domId, then selector, across the WHOLE list first; compositionSrc-only matching is now a true last resort for when neither identifies a specific element. - FlatSlider's native pointercancel handler (a platform-level gesture abort — scroll/touch takeover, pen leaving range) manually duplicated the pointer-capture release logic instead of calling cancelDrag, so it never reverted to the pre-drag value — leaving whatever intermediate position the pointer last reached committed, unlike the Escape/right-click paths added in the previous round. Now calls cancelDrag directly. - useColorGradingController's flushPendingPersist read identityKeyRef.current fresh at flush time rather than a value snapshotted when the edit was scheduled. Defensive fix: added pendingPersistIdentityRef, set alongside pendingPersistValueRef in commitColorGrading, read by flushPendingPersist instead of the live ref — closes the gap regardless of how unlikely the actual race is given the identity-cleanup effect's existing eager-flush behavior. Two prior findings re-verified as already fixed further up this same Graphite stack (not re-fixed here, per established stack-order handling): metadata-cache negative-caching (267cdfce1) and cross-file selectionIdentityKey (6f40e03a1), both landing after #2225's reviewed head. StudioRightPanel.tsx crossed the 600-line file-size gate after wiring the new onSetAttributes prop through; extracted the inspector split-pane resize handlers (previously inlined) into their own useInspectorSplitResize hook. New regression tests: repeated-composition-host resolution, atomic vs. fallback pinRange commit paths, pointercancel revert. Full studio suite still at the known pre-existing 55-failure baseline, zero new regressions. Typecheck/oxlint/oxfmt clean. |

feat(studio): mirror canvas z-order actions into timeline lanes (track order = default paint order) (#2380)
* feat(studio): mirror canvas z-order actions into timeline lanes, badge z overrides
Track order = default paint order; authored z = advanced override.
- timelineZMirror.ts: pure resolver mapping a successful z-menu action to a
timeline lane move — closest track in the action's direction that is free
over the clip's whole span, else a new lane adjacent to the crossed
neighbor; temporal-overlap scope (default pending product sign-off, see
module doc); visual zone only; same-file reference scoping; persistTrack
via the shared authored-space rules. null for non-clips (menu stays
z-only) and at-extreme/no-overlap cases.
- useCanvasZOrderTimelineMirror.ts: after the z commit resolves, the mirror
persists the lane move through the same machinery as a timeline lane drag
(optimistic store update, authoredTrack refresh, rollback); inserts reuse
commitTrackInsert's renumber via a shared buildTrackInsertEdits core. Both
writes share one coalesce key (zReorderCoalesceKey) and fold into ONE undo
entry (test proves it over the real history reducer). The mirror never
triggers the lane->z stacking sync, so it cannot fight the z values the
action just set.
- timelineZOverride.ts + TimelineClip badge: clips whose paint order
contradicts lane order among temporally-overlapping same-context visual
neighbors (laneIsAbove XOR paintsAbove, the stacking-sync predicates) show
a 'z' badge — authored z overrides are surfaced instead of silently
disagreeing with the timeline.
- Timeline.tsx track derivations extracted to useTimelineTrackDerivations
(600-line cap).
* fix(studio): fold mirrored z-order gestures into one undo entry across slow persists
Live verification caught the z write and the mirrored lane write splitting
into two undo entries: the mirror runs after the z persist's server round
trip, which exceeds editHistory's default 300ms coalesce window under real
latency (the unit test's deterministic clock sat inside it).
zReorderCoalesceKey now mints a per-gesture-unique key (monotonic seq, the
laneChangeGestureSeq precedent) and both records carry coalesceMs Infinity —
distinct gestures can never merge, and one gesture always folds regardless
of write latency. coalesceMs threaded through the persist chain alongside
coalesceKey. Also hardens the existing lane-drag move->z fold, which had the
same latent split. Fold test now simulates a 400ms gap (failed before the
fix, passes after); a two-separate-gestures test asserts two entries.
* feat(studio): flashless lane mirror, z-order menu icons, close-gap track menu
- Track-only batch moves (the z-mirror's lane hop and the insert renumber)
skip the GSAP fallback round-trip and the preview reload entirely — the
renderer never reads data-track-index, and the live DOM patch + optimistic
store update cover the UI. Mixed batches keep current behavior. Kills the
canvas blink on mirrored Bring/Send actions (live-verified: an
iframe-scoped marker survives the whole gesture).
- The four z-order menu items get 16px stroke icons (single layer diamond +
directional arrow for Forward/Backward; pierced two-layer stack for
Front/Back); labels unchanged — they are the industry-standard names.
- New track context menu on empty lane space: 'Close gap' (shifts the next
clip and every clip after it on that lane left by the clicked gap's width;
leading gaps count, so a single clip with empty space before it compacts
to 0) and 'Close all gaps' (whole lane contiguous from 0). Pure gap math
in timelineGaps.ts; persists through the drag path's atomic batch move
(one undo per action); refuses when a clip that must shift is locked;
items disable when there is nothing to close.
* fix(studio): rebind-only preview sync for unmutated timing edits, classical z-menu order
Timing edits that rewrote NO GSAP positions (gap closes and moves of
selector-addressed caption clips, zero-delta batches, comps without a
rewritable script) full-reloaded the preview — and the rerun-current-scripts
attempt was wrong for real compositions: re-executing init-style scripts
(three.js scenes, caption engines) is exactly the unsafe case, verified live
by doubled init warnings and a fallback reload anyway.
The correct observation: when mutated === false the existing __timelines are
still valid — only the runtime's clip visibility windows are stale, and the
live DOM timing attributes were already patched. So the no-mutation path now
runs applySoftReloadFinalization only (seek + __hfForceTimelineRebind +
manual-edits reapply), extracted from the soft-reload machinery — zero
script execution. This also un-blinks comps with no GSAP script at all,
which previously always remounted. Rewritten-script soft reloads,
cannot-soft-reload, otherFileChanged, and mutation failures keep their
existing behavior. gsapSoftReload's undo/redo restore section moved verbatim
to gsapUndoRestore.ts for the 600-line cap.
Also: z-order menu items reordered to the classical arrangement (Bring to
Front, Bring Forward, Send Backward, Send to Back).
Live-verified on a three.js-heavy composition: Close-all-gaps shifted 4
caption clips with correct cumulative amounts, the preview iframe was never
remounted (marker survived), and one undo reverted everything.
* fix(studio): bound forward/backward mirror to a one-element step
User-specified semantic: Bring Forward / Send Backward move the clip past
EXACTLY ONE element. The mirror's lane target is now bounded by the next
temporally-overlapping element beyond the crossed neighbor: a free lane
strictly between the two is taken (closest to the neighbor), and when they
are back-to-back a new track is inserted immediately beyond the crossed
element — never past the second one. Previously the resolver took the
closest free lane anywhere beyond the neighbor, which could carry the track
past a second element while the z action only stepped past one — a
track/paint contradiction our own zOverride badge would flag. Front/back
keep whole-set semantics (past everything; back stays above the audio
zone). End-to-end test pins the 3-stacked case through commitZMirrorLaneMove
to the persisted renumbered tracks.
* feat(studio): permanent gap-menu rows with hover and click-select gap highlights
- TrackGapContextMenu always renders both rows; an inapplicable action dims
with a tooltip ("No gap here" / lock reason / "No gaps on this track")
instead of vanishing into a one-item menu. Width badge only when a gap
exists under the pointer.
- Hovering an ACTIONABLE row highlights the strip(s) it would close in the
timeline: the single gap for Close gap, every current gap (leading included)
for Close all gaps. New resolveAllGapIntervals in timelineGaps.ts reports
present-state intervals (epsilon-tolerant, overlap-safe), distinct from
resolveAllTrackGaps' post-compaction starts.
- Click-selecting a single clip paints a quieter tint over its lane's gaps
(suppressed for marquee multi-selection and during drags; the gap-menu hover
wins on its own lane). Derivation lives in useTimelineGapHighlights with the
pure buildTimelineGapStrips exported and unit-tested.
- Strips render in TimelineCanvas with the drop-placeholder geometry (row top
+ clip inset), dashed accent for hover, faint tint for selection.
- Timeline.tsx stayed under the 600-line cap by extracting the scroll-viewport
plumbing (ResizeObserver width + shortcut-hint sync) into
useTimelineScrollViewport, behavior unchanged.
* feat(studio): stronger capcut-style timeline zoom steps
One button press / pinch gesture now moves the zoom meaningfully: step
factors 1.25x/0.8x -> 1.5x/(2/3) (kept reciprocal so in+out round-trips) and
pinch sensitivity 0.0035 -> 0.007. Addresses "zooming several times to get
anywhere" feedback; cursor anchoring unchanged.
* feat(studio): three-way z sync — layers drags mirror timeline lanes, panel tracks live z edits
Completes the layers/canvas/timeline sync triangle: the Layers panel was the
one surface whose reorders never reached the timeline, and the one that went
stale when the other two wrote z flashlessly.
- Layers drag -> minimal z + equal-jump lane mirror. handleReorder now uses
the canvas menu's realization core via resolveZOrderReposition (one
between-z write when a strict gap exists, band-safe scoped renumber
otherwise) instead of computeReorderZValues' all-sibling stamp — that
helper is deleted, completing the #2347 unification follow-up. The drop
then mirrors into a timeline lane move through the same machinery as the
canvas menu (new resolveRepositionLaneMove: the clip lands on a free lane
strictly between its NEW paint neighbors' lanes — nearest clip siblings in
the desired render order, decorations skipped — else a track insert at
that boundary; audio zone never crossed). Both writes share one
per-gesture zReorderCoalesceKey with an unbounded fold window, so a drag
is exactly ONE undo entry; useCanvasZOrderTimelineMirror's plumbing is
factored into useMirrorLaneMoveCommit and reused by the new
useLayerReorderTimelineMirror. A same-slot drop is a hard no-op (new
order-equality guard in resolveZOrderReposition).
- Panel staleness fix: flashless z commits (skipReload) reload nothing and
bump no refreshKey, so the panel's z-sorted order went stale while paused.
handleDomZIndexReorderCommit now bumps a store zEditVersion on apply AND
rollback; the panel re-collects on it. Verified live: the panel re-sorts
the instant a drag commits and again on undo.
- Layer click reveal (useLayerRevealOverride): clicking a layer that stays
hidden at the current frame (animation-parked opacity, non-clip
display/visibility hides, hidden ancestors) temporarily forces the chain
visible with live inline styles — exact priors restored on deselect, on
another reveal, on play, and on unmount; never persisted (file diff == 0
verified live). Clips keep the existing seek-into-window behavior; the
override applies on a short defer so a seek-revealed clip needs none.
- layerOrdering's unused hasExplicitZIndex probe (zero callers) removed.
Live-verified on a bed copy: a 2-position layers drag wrote exactly one
element (z 6->23 + data-track-index 15->2), the timeline lane moved without
a reload, and a single Cmd+Z restored the file byte-identically.
* feat(studio): full-track selection highlight, borderless gap hover strips
- Click-selecting a clip now lights the WHOLE lane minus its clips — leading
gap, inter-clip gaps, and the open space after the last clip to the rendered
end (new resolveLaneEmptyIntervals; displayDuration threaded into the strip
derivation). Still click-only: any drag/resize suppresses the strips, and a
marquee multi-select never shows them.
- The gap-menu hover strips drop the dashed border (user feedback) — fill only,
nudged to 0.18 alpha to keep the same visual weight.
* feat(studio): selected layer paints on top via a reader-transparent z lift
Clicking a layer in the Layers tab now shows the element as if it were at the
very top of the stack while selected — whatever its authored z or panel
position — extending the reveal override (which already forced hidden chains
visible) with a temporary inline z lift:
- liftElementToTop parks the TRUE effective z in data-hf-reveal-prior-z and
writes a far-top inline z; a static element gets a layout-preserving
position:relative with its prior parked in data-hf-reveal-prior-pos. Only
the RENDERER sees the lift: all three studio z readers
(readTimelineElementZIndex, getElementZIndex, readEffectiveZIndex) return
the parked prior while the attribute is present, so the canvas z-menu, the
zOverride badge, the lane mirror, the stacking sync, and the panel sort
keep reasoning on the element's real z.
- Strictly ephemeral: exact priors restored on deselect / another reveal /
play / unmount, each property only while it still holds the value the
override wrote (a later real edit is never clobbered). File diff == 0
verified live across a full lift/restore cycle.
- A z-reorder commit CONSUMES an active lift (handleDomZIndexReorderCommit
reads the parked position for its persist-position:relative static check,
then drops the attributes) — the committed z becomes the truth and the
later restore is a guarded no-op.
* fix(studio): flashless undo/redo — three full-reload causes in the soft-restore path
Cmd+Z blinked the canvas on essentially every undo. Three independent causes
in applyUndoRestoreToPreview, each sufficient on its own:
1. Master-view path gate: activeCompPath is NULL at the master view, so the
'paths[0] === activeCompPath' eligibility check could never match the
index.html restore and every default-view undo full-reloaded at the first
gate. Normalized to the codebase-wide 'activeCompPath ?? "index.html"'.
2. Nested identity innerHTML check: the diff compared each identified
element's innerHTML, but the composition root wraps every clip — any child
change re-detected at the root rejected the restore. Change detection now
compares only each element's OWN attribute surface; structure/text
integrity is still guaranteed by the normalize-residual whole-doc pass
(text nodes, added/removed elements, and un-identified attrs all remain
after normalization and force the full reload).
3. id-only identity: elements addressed by data-hf-id / selector (no DOM id)
fell outside the diff entirely. Identity is now id OR data-hf-id, with the
live sync resolving either.
Also stop re-running an UNCHANGED GSAP script: attribute-only restores (z,
lane, timing, style — the overwhelmingly common undo) now use the rebind-only
finalization (seek + __hfForceTimelineRebind + manual reapply, zero script
execution — the same path as flashless timing edits), instead of tearing down
and rebuilding live timelines or full-reloading when the script can't be
scoped. A restore whose script text genuinely changed still re-runs it via
applySoftReload, and structural restores (split/delete) still full-reload.
Live-verified on the bed (iframe marker): gap-close undo AND redo both keep
the iframe mounted, live DOM lands on the restored values, disk restored
byte-identically.
* feat(studio): left breathing pad before t=0, double zoom sensitivity again
TRACKS_LEFT_PAD (48px) — the horizontal sibling of TRACKS_TOP_PAD: empty lane
surface between the sticky gutter and the ruler's 00:00 / the first clips,
scrolling WITH the content.
- The lanes and the ruler realize it as a plain flow spacer between the
sticky gutter cell and the time-mapped content div, so every
content-relative computation (clip left = t*pps, beat lines, lane-menu
time, clip drag deltas) is untouched by construction.
- Canvas-space overlays shift by the pad: playhead (getTimelinePlayheadLeft),
gap strips, drop placeholder, snap guide, range highlight, marquee clip
rects, beat SVG; the insert line spans the pad.
- Every pointer->time inverse subtracts it symmetrically: seekFromX, razor,
range/marquee anchors, asset drops, and the zoom-anchor gutter basis; fit
pps and the display width account for the consumed viewport width.
- Live-verified: t=0 clip edge, the 00:00 tick, and the playhead line center
all sit at GUTTER + TRACKS_LEFT_PAD, and a ruler click lands the playhead
center exactly under the pointer.
Also doubles the timeline zoom sensitivity again (user feedback after
feel-testing the first bump): button steps 1.5x/(2/3) -> 2x/0.5, pinch
0.007 -> 0.014.
* fix(studio): left pad renders as true empty space, not lane surface
The pad before t=0 inherited each row's background and bottom border from the
row wrapper, so it read as track lanes. Lane visuals now live on the cells:
the sticky gutter keeps its own separator (header column stays delineated),
the time-mapped content div carries the row background + separator, and the
pad spacer stays transparent — bare shell background, no lines. The
new-track insertion line also starts at the pad's end instead of crossing it.
* fix(studio): no vertical line in the ruler band before 00:00
The ruler corner's right border drew the header-boundary line through the
ruler strip, so the band didn't read as starting at 00:00. Dropped it — the
boundary line belongs to the track rows below; the ruler stays completely
clean from the panel edge to the first tick, matching the empty left pad.
* refactor(studio): remove the timeline z-override badge
User decision: the "z" chip on clips never earned its place — dropped
entirely (timelineZOverride.ts + test deleted, TimelineClip badge rendering
and the zOverrideKeys derivation/threading removed). This also eliminates the
review's D2 finding at the root: the badge's cross-document comparison
(stackingContextId ?? null collides across source files in the expanded view)
produced false positives, and there is no longer a detector to mis-fire.
overlapsInTime/paintsAbove lose their export (the badge was their only
external consumer); the paint-order predicate itself is unchanged.
* fix(studio): collision-free expanded child lanes and host-window gap floors
Review findings D1 (blocker) and 4.
- D1: buildChildElements assigned expanded children synthetic display rows as
`host.track + index` — integers that can EQUAL a real clip's lane in another
file (host on 0 with two children puts child #2 on 1). Lane grouping merges
purely by track number, so the collision fused clips from different source
files into one display lane, and lane-scoped actions (the gap menu) then
batch-persisted a foreign file's clip. Children now take FRACTIONS strictly
between the host's lane and the next integer — structurally unable to
collide with any normalized lane, while still rendering as ordered rows
under the host. Regression test pins the reviewer's exact two-file scenario.
- Finding 4: gap math compacted toward absolute 0, but an expanded child's
display time is host-anchored — close/compact could drag it before its host
window and persist a wrong (even negative) local time. All gap functions
now take a lane FLOOR (laneGapFloor: 0 for ordinary lanes, the children's
expandedParentStart for child lanes — single-origin per lane post-D1),
threaded through the menu model, hover highlights, selected-lane strips,
and both commits. Close-gap shifts clamp at the gap's own left edge.
* fix(studio): scope mirror references, insert writes, and crossed-neighbor identity
Review findings 1, 2, and 3.
- Finding 1: buildTrackInsertEdits normalized the FULL display set and
persisted every shifted clip — writing host-lane numbers into OTHER
composition files when expanded children were showing. The renumber write
set is now the edited element's own source file (the sanctioned multi-write
converges one FILE to lane space, never neighbors' files); foreign clips
keep their authored tracks and re-derive display lanes. The locked-clip
refusal scopes the same way. Expanded-origin elements refuse the insert
outright (a new lane is a host-space renumber, meaningless in the child's
file), and the mirrors restrict an expanded child's lane candidates to its
own siblings' lanes — a sub-comp child still mirrors WITHIN its sub-comp
(persisting the sibling's authored track) but can never land on a host lane
with no same-file occupant. authoredTrackForLane's offset fallback rounds:
fractional synthetic rows must never leak fractions into data-track-index.
- Finding 2: the mirror comparison sets required only sameSourceFile, but a
file can contain several CSS stacking contexts and leaf z is only
comparable within one. Both resolvers now scope by samePaintScope — same
source file AND same stackingContextId (the file check also stops null root
contexts of different files from comparing equal in the expanded view).
- Finding 3: the crossed-neighbor key was derived without selectorIndex, so
duplicate class selectors (.sub) resolved to occurrence 0 — a different
clip. The key now carries getSelectorIndex, matching how z-reorder entries
derive theirs.
* fix(studio): z-to-lane gestures are one serialized transaction gated on durable persists
Review findings 5 and 7.
- Finding 5: commitDomEditPatchBatches resolved successfully even when the
server matched NO patch target — the z write never reached disk (the
preview reloads to reconverge) yet the lane mirror still ran, desyncing
track order from what actually paints. The commit now resolves a durability
report ({allMatched, changed}; the save queue and commit types are generic
over the result), and the mirror phase is skipped on allMatched === false.
- Finding 7: the z persist rides the DOM-edit save queue while the lane move
rides the timeline/SDK path — two queues, so a second rapid gesture's z
write could land BETWEEN the first gesture's z and lane phases. Every
z-to-lane gesture (canvas z-order menu AND Layers-panel drag) now runs
through runZLaneGesture: a single module-level tail that serializes the
COMPLETE two-phase transaction, with unit tests for ordering, the
durability gate, and queue resilience to failed gestures. The timeline
lane-drag's inverse (move-then-z-sync) shares its phases' await ordering
already; cross-gesture serialization for that path is noted as follow-up.
- LayersPanel's pure sort helpers moved to layersPanelSort.ts (600-line cap).
* fix(studio): multi-clip GSAP batch mutations roll back on late failure
Review finding 6. finishGroupTimingGsapFallback mutates files sequentially
per clip; a late per-clip failure left the earlier rewrites on disk with no
aggregate history entry — unreachable by undo. foldGsapMutationIntoHistory
already snapshots every touched path before mutating; on a mutation failure
it now restores each path whose disk content changed (all-or-nothing batch),
reports restore errors without masking the original failure, and rethrows.
Regression test drives a two-clip batch whose second rewrite fails and
asserts the first clip's write is restored byte-identically.
* fix(studio): scope mirror inserts to their lane zone
* fix(studio): unify source-scoped clip identity
* fix(studio): isolate track insert topology
* fix(studio): harden timeline paint synchronization

fix(studio): flashless z-order commits and visible-overlap stepping
Two legibility fixes for the canvas z-order menu, from user feel-testing: - z-only commits no longer remount the preview iframe. The commit hook already applies the inline z (+ injected position) to the live elements and updates the store synchronously; the post-commit reloadPreview() was a redundant full remount that read as a canvas 'blink' on every action. commitDomEditPatchBatches gains skipReload, engaged only when provably safe: every op is an inline-style patch AND the server reports every patch matched — anything else falls back to the reload so the preview reconverges with disk. The file-watcher's own reload stays suppressed by the existing domEditSaveTimestampRef window, so the skip is real. - Bring Forward / Send Backward step over the next VISIBLY overlapping sibling. The nearest z-neighbor in a composition is often invisible at the current frame (runtime hides time-inactive clips with inline visibility/display; GSAP parks elements at opacity 0), so the step crossed something the user couldn't see — 'enabled but nothing happens'. The forward/backward set now filters on element-level computed visibility (display/visibility/opacity, injectable for tests); enable/disable shares the resolver so the menu is honest: actions disable when no visible neighbor exists. Front/back keep the full painting family. - The neighbor that was stepped over gets a 600ms accent flash, drawn in the studio overlay layer (never in the iframe DOM), so the action shows its work. |

fix(studio): persist canvas z-order actions correctly for static elements
An adversarial review of the canvas context-menu z-order pipeline (Bring to Front / Forward / Backward / Send to Back) found the resolver math sound but the glue between the menu and the commit hook broken: - The menu optimistically wrote style.zIndex AND position: relative to the live elements BEFORE the commit hook ran. The hook decides whether to persist position by checking getComputedStyle(el).position === 'static' — always false after the pre-apply — so the position patch was never persisted on the menu path and the reorder silently reverted at the post-commit reload for any nested/static element (root clips survive only because the runtime forces position:absolute). The same pre-apply made the failure rollback capture the already-mutated values, restoring the broken state on persist errors. The menu no longer pre-applies; the hook owns the live writes (it already applied both synchronously) and now sees true priors. Siblings without a persistable identity still get their z applied live-only so a renumber stays visually coherent. - The commit hook's entry.key store-sync plumbing had zero production callers; the store zIndex went stale until full reload. All three callers (canvas menu via PreviewOverlays, timeline lane z-sync, LayersPanel) now derive and pass the timeline store key (new deriveTimelineStoreKey helper). - patchElementBatch discarded the server's per-patch matched[]; unresolvable siblings persisted partially and silently. Unmatched targets now warn and report save-failure telemetry (z-reorder-unmatched) without rolling back the matched subset. - template/noscript elements counted as painting siblings, so renumber fallbacks wrote z-index/position into <template> tags in the source file. Excluded from the sibling family. - The default undo coalesce key merged DISTINCT z actions within 300ms into one undo entry; the action kind is now part of the key (LayersPanel drags keep coalescing within a drag; explicit lane-move gesture keys untouched). - rectsIntersect comment claimed touching rects intersect; the strict inequalities say otherwise — comment fixed. |

feat(studio): revamps Studio + improves code quality (#2291)
* feat(studio): glue API coexistence layer for the NLE swap What: extends 21 glue files so the OLD timeline/canvas engine and the NEW NLE components type-check side by side: playerStore (multi-select setters, zoom pin, snap toggle, non-reactive scale scratch), drag-state types gain optional NLE fields, timelineLayout/timelineAssetDrop/timelineEditingHelpers/ timelineEditing/timelineElementHelpers/studioHelpers/assetHelpers gain the NLE exports, DomEditOverlay + gestures + AssetContextMenu + Timeline props gain optional callbacks/params, contexts gain *Optional hooks, and TimelineEditCallbacks.onMoveElements becomes a bivariant method accepting both engines' change shapes. patchDocumentRootDuration's test rides along. Why: this is the keystone that dissolves the old "welded glue" problem — every symbol the NLE components need is ADDED next to what the old engine still uses, so the engine components and the swaps can land as separate reviewable PRs. How: 15 authored intermediate files (main content + additive symbols; no behavior changes — new fields optional, new callbacks unused until wired) plus 6 files whose final content is already purely additive. New exports without consumers yet carry TEMP(studio-dnd) ignoreExports entries, removed by the app-shell swap. Test plan: tsc --noEmit in studio + studio-server (verifies BOTH engines compile); bunx vitest run (full suite green incl. the 6 new patchDocumentRootDuration tests); fallow audit clean. * feat(studio): timeline interaction hooks and lanes component (unwired) What: the timeline-side wiring layer, unwired: TimelineLanes (the lane renderer driving drag/resize/marquee), timelineMarquee (+tests), useTimelineStackingSync, useTimelineGeometry, useTimelineEditPinning, useTimelineEditingDrops. Why: everything between the pure drag math and <Timeline> itself; the timeline-glue swap PR then only rewires Timeline/TimelineCanvas onto these. How: new files, tsc-clean against the coexistence layer. Unwired components carry TEMP(studio-dnd) entry registrations, removed at the app-shell swap. Test plan: bunx vitest run timelineMarquee.test.ts; tsc --noEmit; fallow audit clean. * feat(studio): NLE shell assembly (unwired) What: EditorShell (the full editor layout replacing NLELayout + StudioPreviewArea), TimelinePane (timeline host with sub-comp rebasing) and useTimelineEditCallbacks (the callback bag bridging store edits to the timeline), all unwired. Why: the shell that App swaps to in the final step; reviewing it standalone keeps that swap PR small. How: new files against the coexistence layer; TEMP(studio-dnd) entries until App mounts EditorShell in the app-shell swap. Test plan: tsc --noEmit; bunx vitest run (suite unchanged); fallow audit clean. * feat(studio): timeline glue swap — Timeline/TimelineCanvas onto the NLE engine What: flips the timeline glue to its final form (23 files): Timeline and TimelineCanvas rebuilt on TimelineLanes/TimelineOverlays, useTimelineClipDrag drives preview/commit through the new drag engine, range selection goes multi-select, playback loop moves to useTimelinePlayerLoop. Deletes the 9 old-engine files this orphans (group drag, marquee selection, snap targets, layer gutter, selection overlays + their suites) — each is compile- or gate-forced by this swap, verified by probe. Why: second swap step; timeline-only, canvas and App untouched. How: modified files to final content + forced deletions. playerStore/timelineEditing/timelineCallbacks stay at their coexistence form until the app swap (the old App still runs on them). Test plan: tsc --noEmit; bunx vitest run (full suite); fallow audit clean. * feat(studio): clip thumbnail modules What: ImageThumbnail (+tests) and thumbnailUtils (+tests) — frame decode with SVG/AVIF format fallbacks and rounded-corner clipping — plus VideoThumbnail updates. Why: the decode layer for timeline clip thumbnails, ahead of the visual refresh that renders them. How: new modules + one modified file; purely presentational. Test plan: bunx vitest run on both test files; tsc --noEmit; fallow audit clean. * feat(studio): assets/blocks panel behaviors + preview helpers What: blocks tab install flow, right-panel and global drag-overlay polish, music beat analysis and clip-content rendering hooks, and the preview-helper utilities backing asset preview. Why: completes the studio NLE stack on top of the visual refresh. How: modified files only (kept as one PR: splitting further would produce sub-150-LOC fragments of interdependent panel glue). Test plan: bunx vitest run studioPreviewHelpers/studioUrlState suites; tsc --noEmit; fallow audit clean. * fix(studio): restore timeline playback loop * fix(studio): restore missing GSAP helpers module * refactor(studio): split timeline GSAP helpers * style(studio): keep timeline helper under size limit * fix(studio): restore timeline overlays module * fix(studio): remove stale GSAP import * fix(studio): restore canonical timeline dependencies * style(studio): format restored timeline helpers * style(studio): satisfy helper line limit * fix(studio): repair rebuilt timeline integration * feat(studio): complete rebuilt NLE cutover * fix(studio): guard project and timeline race boundaries * fix(studio): preserve graded resize and crop geometry * fix(studio): log resize/rotate commit failures, move anchor accumulator to resize-local * fix(studio): treat duration-0 tweens as static holds and settle resize position before persist Instant holds (to()/fromTo() with duration 0) were classified as animated tweens by every commit route, so resizing or rotating them converted the hold into a corrupt duration-0 keyframes tween (new value at 0%, old at 100%) that GSAP drops; panel edits appended a losing set. A shared isInstantHold() now routes them through the static replace-in-place path, and percentage math guards zero-duration windows. Separately, anchored-corner resizes painted 3-5 frames at the new size but old position while the offset persist round-tripped the server. The commit path now applies the corrected GSAP position synchronously before awaiting the offset persist, mirroring the scale route's settle. * feat(studio): gesture-transaction seam with commit observability Introduce runGestureTransaction — one owner for a gesture commit's settle -> persist -> record lifecycle. It settles the live DOM synchronously before any async persist, folds every mutation into one undo entry via a per-transaction coalesceKey, restores pre-gesture state exactly once on failure, and asserts (dev console) + reports (PostHog: commit_transaction / commit_invariant_violation / commit_transaction_failed) that a persist never changes pixels. The box-size resize path is migrated onto it; the ad hoc per-route coalesceKey/reload handling is removed. Extract the resize draft-rect math into resizeDraft.ts to keep the gesture-handler file under the size cap. Also: keep url_hash telemetry to the route slug only (drop the query string, which carried the user's selected element id/selector), and gate the [hf-resize] diagnostics behind localStorage hf-resize-debug so they ship as opt-in tracing rather than console noise. * fix(studio): transaction owns the undo label The coalesced history entry took the last sub-mutation's label, so a resize surfaced as "Move layer" (the offset persist) in undo/redo. The seam now stamps tx.label on every wrapped mutation, so the folded entry reads as the gesture. * fix(studio): atomic static size/position commits (no data loss) Static resize/position holds updated an existing set via delete+add — two undo entries, and a delete that succeeded before a failed add lost the hold on disk. Use one in-place update-properties mutation when a set exists (one undo entry, no partial-failure window). The keyframed-hold heal that can't be expressed as a property update now adds before it deletes, so any single failure leaves a recoverable duplicate, never a lost hold. Transaction-owned commits are tracked via a WeakSet so the heal path never double-wraps an already-wrapped gesture. * fix(core): restore timed-clip visibility after a forced timeline rebind __hfForceTimelineRebind force-rendered the re-registered timeline but never re-ran the per-[data-start] visibility pass, so after undo or soft reload every clip rendered regardless of its time window until a full page reload. Extract the visibility loop into syncTimedElementVisibility and call it from both syncMediaForCurrentState (unchanged) and the rebind. * fix(studio): atomic z-order/keyframe/split commits, one undo entry each Three edit-commit paths hardened onto the one-transaction invariant: - Z-order reorder (useElementLifecycleOps): N per-element writes now fold into one undo entry (coalesceMs Infinity) and, on a failed persist, restore already-written files to disk so no partial reorder survives. - Enable-keyframes (useEnableKeyframes/useGsapKeyframeOps): the intermediate convert phase no longer full-reloads the preview (skipReload), killing the black-flash remount; convert + edit share one coalesce key = one undo entry. - Razor split-all (useRazorSplit): snapshot before the batch and restore on any failure, so a mid-batch error never leaves un-revertable partial splits. Shared file-history helpers (RecordEditInput, DomEditCommitBaseParams, readProjectFileContent, restoreFilesToOriginal) dedupe the rollback/commit logic across these paths. Commit options thread as one partial object rather than field-by-field. Test setup extracted into colocated helpers. * fix(studio): fold multi-step edits into one undo entry; guard text revert - Gesture recording (useGestureCommit): the per-property-group commits now share one coalesce key and only the last reloads, so a recording is one undo entry and one preview reload instead of up to four. - Delete selected keyframes (deleteSelectedKeyframes, split out of timelineEditingHelpers): N removals fold into one coalesced undo entry with a single reload. - Text-field commit (useDomEditTextCommits): commitDomTextFields now uses the same version-guarded revert as handleDomTextCommit, so a stale failed commit can no longer stomp a newer successful one. * feat(studio): batch a gesture's mutations into one atomic server write A transaction that emits N mutations previously did N sequential POSTs, each rewriting the file and soft-reloading — the root of the multi-phase persist window. Add a gsap-mutations-batch endpoint that validates every mutation up front, applies them in one in-memory rewrite chain, and writes the file once (all-or-nothing: an invalid entry rejects the whole batch, no partial write). The seam buffers a transaction's commits and, when more than one targets the same file, dispatches a single batch — one write, one history entry, one reload. The batch capability rides on the existing commit-function reference; no option fields are threaded through callers. * fix(studio): soften off-canvas indicator outline to 30% opacity The dashed off-canvas selection outline at 60% was noisy with many protruding elements on screen; drop the resting opacity to 30% (hover still restores full opacity so it stays discoverable). * fix(studio): drop off-canvas indicator outline to 10% opacity Follow-up to the 30% softening — 10% resting opacity reads much calmer with many protruding elements; hover still restores full opacity. * fix(studio): gate [hf-commit] console traces to dev only The start/settled/persisted/restore lifecycle traces logged on every gesture commit in all environments — console noise for end users. Route them through a dev-only traceCommit helper (matching the pixel-violation error's existing DEV gate). The commit_* PostHog events stay always on; they are the production observability, the console lines are a dev aid. * fix(studio): count actual reloads, not softReload requests, in commit telemetry A resize's size and offset persists both request softReload; the seam counted each request, so a batched gesture reported reload_count 2 even though the batch is one write and one reload. Compute the count from what dispatchBufferedCommits actually did — one for a batch, the request count for the sequential fallback. * fix(studio): rotate hover + off-canvas overlays with the element; flicker-free crop - Hover overlay applied the element's rotation only to the selection chrome, not the hover box; it now rotates about center like the selection, via a shared orientedGroupAwareOverlayRect router (one owner for rotation-aware overlay geometry across hover/selection/off-canvas). - Off-canvas indicator was axis-aligned; it now rotates with the element and inverse-rotates the canvas-exclusion clip into the element's local frame, so the protruding-sliver clip stays correct for rotated elements. - Crop commit re-lifted the element only in the commit's .then(), so one frame painted the cropped state (the flicker). Re-lift synchronously right after onStyleCommit (which applies the clip before its first await), so the cropped state never paints; the persisted file value is unchanged. * fix(studio): address code-review findings across the commit-hardening campaign Correctness (would ship green, bite under latency): - Enable-keyframes phase 2 now carries coalesceMs: Infinity, so the convert folds into one undo entry instead of splitting past the 300ms default. - The SDK keyframe persist path forwards coalesceMs (CutoverOptions gains the field); multi-keyframe delete and convert coalesce correctly when SDK-routed. - Razor split-all's rollback is guarded so a failing restore can't swallow the error toast that tells the user the split failed. Simplification (single source of truth / no dead flexibility): - Decompose resolveResizeDraftRect (drops a fallow-ignore suppression). - Delegate the third readProjectFileContent copy to the shared helper. - Inline setPatchFromUpdateProperties (its only caller passes one mutation). - One toSdkPersistOptions translates gesture overrides to SDK options. - Bundle the reorder-rollback deps into one object (was 7-9 positional args). - Dedupe the 'last group reloads' ternary; type gesture options as CommitMutationOptions; drop a Map+array wrapper around a single write. * feat(studio): atomic z-order reorder via batch patch-element endpoint Z-order reorder issued N per-element inline-style patches (one server write each), so a mid-chain failure could leave a partial reorder on disk. Add a patch-elements-batch endpoint that validates every patch, folds them over the file in one in-memory rewrite, and writes once (all-or-nothing; unsafe input rejects with no write). The reorder now sends one batch per source file and records one undo entry. Because a failed atomic write persists nothing, the interim disk-write-back rollback (restoreReorderedFile / restoreFulfilledReorderFiles / ReorderRollbackDeps) is deleted — failure rolls back only live DOM/store state. Closes the last disk-atomicity gap. * fix(studio): razor-split undo no longer silently no-ops The split clone was written to disk without a data-hf-id, so the split endpoint recorded that unstamped HTML as the undo entry's afterHash. The next reloadPreview() ran the preview route's ensureHfIds write-back, which minted a fresh id and persisted DIFFERENT bytes — so at undo time the disk hash no longer matched afterHash and editHistory's content-mismatch guard silently refused the undo (no write, no network, no error). Stamp the split output via ensureHfIds in splitElementInHtml before it is written/returned, so the preview write-back is a no-op and the recorded afterHash always equals the final on-disk bytes. Fixes at the source rather than relaxing the mismatch guard. Corrects the stale comment that credited forceReloadSdkSession. * feat(studio): closed-hand grab cursor on the rotate handle The rotate handle used the default arrow cursor; show a grabbing (closed-hand) cursor on hover to signal it's grabbed and dragged to rotate. * fix(studio): dropping a dragged element over another no longer selects it A moved drag's release fired the box click, which re-selected whatever now sat under the pointer via the hover cache — so dropping an element over a higher-z one selected the drop target instead of keeping the dragged element selected. The drag-move branch now suppresses the next box click, mirroring the resize branch. * fix(studio): group drag is one undo entry, not one per element Dragging a multi-selected group committed each member's position write as its own undo entry, so reverting took N Cmd+Z presses. Force a shared coalesceKey (infinite window) across every member's commit so they fold into a single undo entry, like the other multi-step commit paths. * fix(studio): undo of a split no longer leaves a ghost clip in the timeline The file and the composition iframe revert correctly on undo, but the timeline panel kept a ghost node for the split clone. The element-merge that repopulates the timeline preserves elements the fresh scan dropped — intended for enriched sub-composition children a bare DOM re-scan misses, but it also preserved a genuinely-removed TOP-LEVEL element (the split clone after undo), leaving a phantom clip. Restrict the preserve to elements with a compositionSrc (the enriched sub-comp children); a top-level element missing from the fresh scan was truly removed. --------- Co-authored-by: ukimsanov <ular.kimsanov@heygen.com> |

fix(studio): surface persist failures with toast and guarded revert (#1910)
* test(studio): add design-panel QA fixture and triage matrix Fixture project covering all panel-editable element archetypes, plus the QA findings matrix from the design-panel bug campaign. * fix(studio): make canvas selection hit intended elements - honor author pointer-events:none in hit-testing (was selecting invisible overlays) - pause playback before mousedown sampling; fall back to hover selection on null resolve - invalidate committed selection when the active composition changes - double-click keeps selection and defers to multi-candidate click cycling * fix(studio): close remaining selection-layer review findings - hoverSelection fallback now wired at all 3 mousedown call sites (box-click, blocked-drag, plain overlay click) instead of just the overlay path - pointer-events override detection reads computed style, not inline style, so a CSS-class opt-in (not just inline style=) on a descendant is honored - defensively remove the pointer-events override before the group-fallback check too, closing a theoretical gap in the no-elementsFromPoint branch - a click that resolves to nothing (dead-zone / deselect) no longer leaves playback paused if it was already playing * fix(studio-server): child-scoped patch operations with batch abort - PatchOperation gains optional childSelector/childIndex resolved under the matched parent - pre-pass resolves every op target; any miss aborts the batch with matched:false, no partial write - style-decl parsing extracted to sourceStyleMutation to stay under the file-size cap - new ./source-mutation subpath export (mirrors ./finite-mutation) * fix(studio): per-child patch op builders and persist-seam harness - buildTextFieldChildLocator indexes over the parent's full same-tag child list - buildTextFieldChildOperations emits per-field ops for same-shape multi-field edits - SDK cutover declines child-scoped batches (hfId mapping would hit the parent) - persist-seam integration harness drives real client ops through patchElementInHtml * fix(studio): fail closed on unresolved text-field child index buildTextFieldChildLocator guessed a synthetic field's position by counting same-tag "child" fields elsewhere in the array whenever sourceChildIndex was absent. That heuristic is unreachable today (the count-mismatch guard in buildTextFieldChildOperations already refuses add/remove edits before it's reached) but would silently locate the wrong element for a future caller that wires up synthetic-field support without also computing a real sourceChildIndex. Return null instead so the caller falls back to the unsupported-structure path. * fix(studio): surface persist failures with toast and guarded revert - matched:false and persist errors toast, warn structurally, and revert the optimistic write - reverts guarded by a per-property version counter so stale failures never stomp newer edits - structural text-field edits refuse persist instead of writing escaped markup - multi-field child edits persist via per-child ops; shared commit runner extracted * fix(studio): revert data-attribute and html-attribute commits on persist failure commitDataAttribute and handleDomHtmlAttributeCommit toasted on failure but never reverted the optimistic attribute write, leaving the preview showing an edit that never reached disk (the exact bug this PR closes for style commits). Extracted into useDomEditAttributeCommits.ts (useDomEditTextCommits.ts was at the file-size cap) and routed through runDomEditCommit with a per-target+ attribute version guard, mirroring handleDomStyleCommit. * fix(studio): close coupled persist-hook review findings Three findings from R2 review that must land together: a patch-rejection toast doubled up with the generic persist-failure toast (StudioSaveHttpError had no alreadyToasted marker), a failed prepareContent write (e.g. font-face injection) reverted and re-toasted a change the server had already persisted, and text-commit shouldRevert only rolled back on one narrow error type instead of any persist failure. |

feat(studio): draggable 3D-transform cube in the design panel (#1710)
* feat(studio): draggable 3D-transform cube in the design panel
Add a Figma-style draggable cube to the 3D Transform section so users can set an
element's 3D orientation by dragging instead of typing degrees. Drag tilts the
element (rotationX/Y); Shift-drag rolls it (rotationZ); a recenter button resets
the 3D transform to identity. The cube previews the orientation live and commits
on release.
It's an input affordance over the existing keyframe-aware commit path
(commitAnimatedProperty) — a drag at the playhead writes/updates keyframes just
like the numeric fields, no new mutation infra.
- transform3dProjection.ts: pure unit-cube projection with back-face culling and
painter ordering (no 3D dependency), unit-tested.
- Transform3DCube.tsx: the SVG drag widget (pointer-capture, draft→commit).
- Surface the two missing numeric fields (RotZ, Perspective). Perspective drives
the new editable `transformPerspective` prop (per-element depth) rather than
CSS `perspective` (which only affects children).
* feat(studio): polish 3D cube — collapsed by default, compact lit cube, live drag preview
Address review of the first cut:
- 3D Transform section is now collapsible and collapsed by default (it was tall
and ate panel space).
- Redesign the cube: compact and centered (was full-width), resting isometric
camera so it reads as a 3D cube at identity instead of a flat square,
directional per-face lighting, gradient backdrop + grounding shadow.
- Live element preview while dragging: onLivePreviewProps gsap.sets the live
transform on the preview element so it moves WITH the cube; release still
commits via the keyframe-aware path.
- Extract Cube3dControl to keep the panel component under the complexity gate.
* fix(studio): persist static 3D transform + refine cube edges
The cube (and the RotX/RotY numeric fields) didn't stick on an element whose
only tween is a position 'set' — commitAnimatedProperty tried to convert the
zero-duration hold into keyframes, so the rotation was never written and the
cube snapped back. Handle the static-set case: merge the property into the set
(update-property) so a static 3D rotation/perspective persists, and the cube
reads it back from runtime.
Also refine the cube rendering: muted teal lit faces with edges that brighten
with how front-facing each face is (crisp bevels, not flat neon outlines), a
soft halo glow, and a stronger grounding shadow.
* feat(studio): 3D transform — keyframe diamonds, flash-free commits, in-cube perspective
- Keyframe diamonds: RotX/RotY/RotZ + Perspective (and Z/Scale) now each carry a
KeyframeNavigation diamond, so 3D transforms can be keyframed like Layout X/Y.
Refactored the six fields onto a shared Transform3dField.
- Flash-free: static-set 3D commits now use instantPatch (in-place runtime patch,
no soft reload), and the set fast-path was widened to the 3D channels
(rotationX/Y/Z, z, transformPerspective) — dragging the cube / scrubbing a 3D
field no longer flashes.
- In-cube perspective: a Persp slider lives in the cube widget and the cube's
foreshortening reflects transformPerspective live.
* feat(studio): 3D cube X/Y/Z axis gizmo + gated flash-diagnostic logs
- Axis gizmo: render the rotated X (red) / Y (green) / Z (blue) vectors from the
cube center — away-facing axes dimmed behind the cube, toward-facing on top
with a tip dot + label — so orientation is readable at a glance.
- Flash diagnostics: add a gated, JSON-stringified [hf-3d:*] logger (on in dev or
via window.__hfDebug). Instruments the commit path (which branch + picked
tween), the cube pose/axis commits, and — the key signal — applyPreviewSync's
instant-patch-vs-soft-reload decision (a soft reload IS the flash). Reproduce
with the console open to pinpoint any remaining flash to a specific commit.
* fix(studio): make the 3D cube mirror the element's orientation 1:1
The resting isometric camera made the cube always look tilted, so at rotation
0/0/0 the cube showed a 3D pose while the element was flat — the cube didn't
represent the element. Drop the decorative camera (VIEW_RX/RY = 0): the cube now
faces front at identity, exactly matching the un-rotated element, and tilts to
match as the element rotates. The X/Y/Z axis gizmo keeps the flat-at-rest state
readable.
Flash status (from the gated [hf-3d:*] logs): every commit now reports
'instant (no flash)' via instantPatch — the soft-reload flashes are resolved.
* fix(studio): stop design-panel flicker — read transform channels live
Each 3D commit bumps the gsap cache; the panel then re-read runtime values, but
readGsapRuntimeValuesForPanel only included props already present in the parsed
gsapAnimations. A just-set rotationX isn't in the parse yet, so for that window
the cube + fields dropped it and flickered to 0. Always read the core transform
channels (x/y/rotation/rotationX/Y/Z/z/scale/transformPerspective/opacity)
directly via gsap.getProperty — which reflects the in-place instant patch — so
the panel shows the true current value with no flicker.
* refactor(studio): extract collectPanelPropKeys to keep panel reader under complexity gate
* feat(studio): keyframable 3D transforms — convert a static set to keyframes
The cube/3D fields stored rotation as a static 'set', and convert-to-keyframes
flatly refused to convert a set (gsapParser.ts) — so two 3D 'keyframes' just
overwrote the same static value with no interpolation.
Now a set converts to an animatable to(): resolveConversionProps emits both
endpoints from the set's value (visual unchanged until edited), and both writers
flip set→to, drop the immediateRender hold, and add a duration. The element's
clip duration is threaded through the convert chain (3D field → handler →
convertToKeyframes → route → parser) so the keyframes span the whole clip and
land in range at any playhead. Click a 3D field's diamond to convert, then edit
at different playheads to animate. Acorn writer mirrored; recast round-trip test
added.
* feat(studio): keyframe toggle on the 3D cube
The cube had no keyframe affordance, so dragging it only ever wrote the static
set (logs showed every rotation commit as path:static-set) and nothing
interpolated — converting required clicking a numeric field's diamond, which
isn't discoverable while driving the cube.
Add a keyframe diamond button to the cube widget: it converts the 3D
('other'-group) static set to keyframes spanning the element's clip, and lights
up when the transform is already keyframed. Once keyframed, cube drags + numeric
edits add keyframes at the playhead and the 3D rotation interpolates.
* feat(studio): auto-keyframe 3D transforms on animated elements + stop AssetsTab 404 loop
3D transforms now auto-keyframe like drag/resize/rotate: when the element is
already animated (its clip has keyframes), editing a 3D prop converts the static
set to keyframes so edits at other playheads interpolate — no manual keyframe
toggle needed. Purely static elements still write a static set (and the cube's
keyframe button remains a manual opt-in for them).
Also fix the AssetsTab media-manifest fetch: it was keyed on the assets array
reference (new each render) so it re-fetched the (usually missing) manifest on
every re-render — spamming 404s and churning the left sidebar during cube drags.
Key on a stable join and cache the 404 so a missing manifest is fetched once.
* fix(studio): cube writes one keyframe per drag (no duplicate keyframes)
The cube committed rotationX/Y/Z as separate add-keyframe mutations; the first
axis's auto-keyframe convert shifted the tween so the second axis computed a
slightly different percentage → two adjacent keyframes instead of one.
Add a batched commitAnimatedProperties that writes all changed props into ONE
keyframe, and route the cube through it (commitAnimatedProperty is now a thin
single-prop wrapper). Threaded through the panel chain; numeric fields keep the
single-prop path. Set-path and keyframe-path extracted to helpers to stay under
the complexity gate.
* refactor(studio): extract AudioRow from AssetsTab to satisfy file-size check
The manifest-404 fix touched AssetsTab.tsx, which was already over the 600-line
cap (702). Move the self-contained AudioRow sub-component to its own file,
bringing AssetsTab to 493 lines.
* fix(studio): self-heal stale animationId on 3D property commit
A 3D property edit (cube drag / field) picks its target from the panel's
selectedGsapAnimations cache. When keyframes were just removed or the script
changed underneath, that id is gone server-side and the commit POST 404s
('animation not found'). The raw commitMutation already toasts but rethrows,
so the rejection escaped as an uncaught promise. Catch it in
commitAnimatedProperties and bump the cache so the panel re-syncs and the
next edit self-heals.
* fix(studio): batch the 3D reset into one commit (was six flashes)
Reset 3D orientation looped six props (rotationX/Y/Z, z, scale,
transformPerspective) through the single-property commit, so one click
triggered six separate soft-reloads — six preview flashes. Batch them into
one onCommitAnimatedProperties call (one keyframe, one reload), matching the
cube-drag path.
* fix(studio): 3D-edit a static element writes a set, not keyframes
Editing the 3D transform of an element with no keyframes created a keyframed
tween (Case 3 made a tl.to() + convert, a flat tween converted to keyframes).
A static element should stay static — same as manual drag / resize / rotate,
which tl.set() it. Route no-keyframe elements to a set: update an existing one
in place, or create a dedicated tl.set carrying all axes in ONE add mutation.
The single mutation also avoids the per-axis id race (a flat tween's
group-derived id shifts after the first prop, 404-ing the next and polluting
an unrelated tween).
* feat(studio): instant 3D keyframe edits via in-place tween rebuild
Dragging the cube on an animated element soft-reloaded the iframe on every
edit (a flash). GSAP compiles object-form keyframes ({ "0%": {...} }) into
sub-tweens at creation and ignores later vars.keyframes mutations, so the value
can't be patched the way a tl.set can. Instead REBUILD the tween in place: kill
it and recreate it on the same parent timeline at the same position with the
edited keyframe merged and all other vars preserved, then re-seek — no iframe
reload, no flash. Resolution is now channel-aware for keyframe tweens too, so a
rotation edit lands on the rotation tween, never a co-located position tween.
Declines (→ soft reload) for array-form, motionPath, or dynamic values.
* feat(studio): static 3D transform persists as off-timeline gsap.set (no 0% keyframe)
Adjusting a 3D transform on an element with no keyframes created a
tl.set(...,0), which the timeline renders as a 0% keyframe diamond — even
though it's a static hold, not animated. Persist a newly-created static 3D
hold as a base gsap.set(...) instead: it runs immediately, sits OFF the
timeline, and shows no keyframe marker (matching the manual-drag UX).
- Model: GsapAnimation.global marks a base gsap.set vs an on-timeline tl.set.
- Parser (recast + acorn): parse a STRING-LITERAL gsap.set("#sel", {...}) as an
editable global set so it round-trips and re-edits in place; variable-target
gsap.set(el, ...) holds stay opaque surrounding source (unchanged).
- Serializer + writers: emit gsap.set(sel, props) (no timeline var, no position)
when global; in-place updates keep it a gsap.set.
- add mutation gains global; commitStaticSet sends it when creating a holder.
* fix(studio): static manual drag persists as off-timeline gsap.set, instant (no flash/diamond)
After keyframes are removed, manually dragging a now-static element wrote a
tl.set(...,0) — an on-timeline hold that shows a 0% keyframe diamond and
soft-reloaded on the first nudge (a flash/teleport between the overlay and the
committed position). Make the static position/rotation drag persist as a base
gsap.set (off-timeline, no marker), like the 3D path.
A gsap.set has no runtime tween to patch, so add a 'global-set' instant-patch
that applies the value straight to the element (gsap.set(el, props)) — the
element is static on these channels, so it reflects instantly with no soft
reload. Existing tl.set holds keep the tween 'set' patch; only global sets use
global-set. Create now carries the instant patch too, so the first nudge is
flash-free.
* fix(studio): a base gsap.set shows no keyframe diamond (timeline + panel)
A base gsap.set is parsed as an editable set (for idempotent re-edits), but
synthesizeFlatTweenKeyframes turned it into a synthetic 0% keyframe, so the
timeline track and the panel field showed a phantom keyframe diamond for a
static, non-animated value. Return null for a global set so it contributes no
keyframes — it's an off-timeline static hold, not a keyframe.
* fix(studio): a static set never shows a keyframe diamond (timeline + panel)
A set (gsap.set OR tl.set) is a static hold — a value applied at one point,
not an animated keyframe — so it must not synthesize a phantom keyframe. The
prior fix only skipped GLOBAL gsap.set; on-timeline tl.set holds (and ones a
split/conversion produced) still showed a diamond. Skip every set, which also
aligns the AST keyframe cache with the runtime scan (it already drops every
zero-duration set).
* fix(studio): batch set-property edits (reset 3D no longer 404s)
Reset 3D fires 6 props (rotationX/Y/Z, z, scale, perspective) at a set;
commitSetProps updated them one at a time. A set's id is GROUP-derived, so the
moment scale lands on a rotation set its id shifts (-other -> mixed), 404-ing
the next prop (perspective never got set). Add an update-properties mutation
(merge many props in one call) and have commitSetProps/commitStaticSet use it —
one round-trip, no mid-loop id shift.
* style(studio): fix format + trim 3D-patch helper complexity
oxfmt the runtime-patch file (the failing Format/Preflight check) and reduce
the complexity of the new helpers: flatten keyframeVarsCarryChannel with .some,
extract finiteNumericProps from applyGlobalSet, suppress the inherently-defensive
rebuildKeyframeTween guard chain.
* chore(studio): remove [hf-3d:*] debug logs (3D transform verified working)
Strip the log3d call sites + the debug3d util now that the 3D transform /
static-set / keyframe-rebuild paths are confirmed working.
* chore(studio): strategic [hf-pos:*] logs for position-commit path audit
Temporary DEV-gated logs to confirm which path each drag takes: single drag →
GSAP code path (single-gsap), multi-select/group drag → DEPRECATED CSS-var path
(group-css, applyStudioPathOffset → --hf-studio-offset), and the single CSS
fallback (single-css). To be removed once group drag is routed through GSAP.
* fix(studio): route multi-select group drag through GSAP code path
Group drag committed positions via the deprecated --hf-studio-offset CSS
var (applyStudioPathOffset) and outright blocked GSAP-animated elements.
Single drag already routes through tryGsapDragIntercept (tl.set /
keyframes / gsap.set); group drag now does the same per element, so a
multi-select move writes real GSAP code with no CSS-var fallback. Removed
the now-dead CSS group commit.
* feat(studio): live candidate highlight while marquee-selecting
The marquee only revealed what it selected on mouse-up, so it was easy to
grab too much or too little. Now each element the marquee box currently
intersects is outlined live (studio-accent) as you drag, before release —
so you can see the selection forming. Shares one synchronous OBB/SAT
intersection pass between the live highlight and the commit; the async
source-probe still runs only once, on mouse-up.
* chore(studio): remove temporary [hf-pos:*] position-path debug logs
Investigation done — group drag now routes through the GSAP code path, so
the CSS-vs-GSAP path-audit scaffolding (logPos / debugPos) is no longer
needed. Removes the util and its imports/calls.
* fix(studio): marquee selects/highlights elements at their real positions
The marquee derived element boxes from elementObbCorners, whose
non-identity-transform branch reconstructed the box from offsetLeft/offsetTop
plus the element's own transform matrix — ignoring the matrix translate
(m.e/m.f) and any ancestor transforms. Mid-GSAP-animation (elements carry a
translate() transform), that put boxes at their pre-translate layout
position, so the marquee highlighted/selected the wrong elements vs. the
box shown when you click an element directly.
Route the marquee through the same toOverlayRect basis the selection and
group boxes use (a getBoundingClientRect-based AABB). Now highlight ==
selection-commit == the click-selection box, at the element's real on-screen
position. Drops the buggy OBB/SAT path (elementObbCorners,
marqueeIntersectsObb); AABB matches the selection box, which never rotated.
Adds dev-only [hf-marquee:*] tracing (per-element rect + intersect + skip
reason, JSON) to debug what the marquee sees; stripped from prod builds.
* fix(studio): off-canvas elements no longer render a selection-style border
OffCanvasIndicators drew two layers per partly-off-screen element: a dashed
sliver on the protruding part, plus a solid studio-accent border (with the
selection box-shadow) over the on-canvas portion. That solid border only
ever draws for UNSELECTED elements (selected ones get a real selection box
via the filter), so an unselected off-canvas element looked selected.
Removed the solid inside layer — the dashed protruding sliver stays as the
off-canvas hint.
* chore(studio): remove [hf-marquee:*] debug logs
Marquee position fix is verified; strip the dev-only tracing scaffolding
(logMarquee/debugLabel/debug param) back to the lean intersection loop.
* fix(studio): convert a global gsap.set to a seekable timeline tween + review cleanups
Primary fix: converting a global `gsap.set` to keyframes flipped only the
method (set->to), leaving the callee object `gsap` — emitting `gsap.to(...)`,
an off-timeline tween that fires once at load and isn't on the paused master
`window.__timelines` (the engine can't seek/render it). Reachable from the
cube's keyframe toggle + maybeAutoKeyframeSet on the global sets commitStaticSet
creates. Now re-roots onto the timeline var and adds the position arg, in both
the recast and acorn writers; covered by a convert test seeded from gsap.set in
each path.
Review cleanups: drop dead confirmDelete/<DeleteConfirm> in AudioRow; drop the
always-zero viewRx/viewRy camera params from the 3D projection; un-export four
internal-only symbols (clears fallow unused-exports); re-add the collectMarqueeHits
complexity suppression dropped with the debug scaffolding.
* chore(studio): green the CI gate + 3D panel expanded by default
- File-size: extract the marquee/candidate render into MarqueeOverlay so
DomEditOverlay drops back under the 600-line cap.
- Fallow complexity: suppress the 8 accepted-complexity findings from the 3D/
runtime work (resolveRuntimeTween, readRuntimeKeyframes, hasNonHoldTweenForElement,
commitKeyframeProps, scored, ImageCard, selectionShapeStyles, off-canvas effect)
with the bare directive the linter recognizes.
- 3D transform panel now defaults to expanded (the cube gizmo is the headline).

feat(sdk): ws-3 — reorderElements op (batch z-index update) (#1502)
* feat(sdk): ws-3 — reorderElements op (batch z-index update) Adds the reorderElements EditOp: each entry sets inline zIndex on one element. Last-write-wins per target so a duplicated target collapses to a single zIndex patch. Positioning is unchanged — z-index only takes effect on non-static elements, so the caller must ensure the target is positioned. Also fixes single-dispatch undo to reverse the inverse patch list (parity with batch()): an op emitting multiple patches whose undo order matters — a duplicated reorderElements target, an aliased multi-target, or a nested parent+child removeElement — must undo in reverse application order, or undo lands on an intermediate value / drops a subtree. validateOp resolves every entry target (E_TARGET_NOT_FOUND for unknown ids; empty entries is a clean no-op). Tests cover set/inverse/validate/duplicate-target. Rebuilt standalone on main (reorderElements only depends on handleSetStyle). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(sdk): remove unused HTTP persist adapter The HTTP PersistAdapter (createHttpAdapter) was dead weight after the studio cutover went single-writer (ws-4): Studio's writeProjectFile is the sole writer and useSdkSession opens with no persist queue, so the adapter's write/flush/ listVersions/loadFrom were never used — only read() was, to fetch the composition source. Replace those two read() calls with a direct optional fetch (GET /files/<path>?optional=1) and drop the adapter + its export-map entries. Saved for later re-introduction (when a non-Studio SDK host needs server-backed persist) at docs/hyperframes/plans/sdk-http-adapter/ (outside the repo). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(studio): resolver shadow for z-index reorder targets The z-index reorder commit takes the server path (no SDK persist), but the resolver-shadow tripwire is decoupled from cutover — so it should still record whether the SDK resolves each reordered element (reorderElements' targets), the same as timing/delete already do before their cutover gate. This gives wild resolver-parity telemetry on z-index targets before z-index reorder is cut over. Threads an onReorderShadow callback (sdkSession-bound, mirrors onTrySdkDelete) from useDomEditSession → useDomEditCommits → useElementLifecycleOps, called with the reordered elements' hf-ids in handleDomZIndexReorderCommit. Read-only, divergence-only, never throws — same contract as recordResolverParity elsewhere. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): guard project-file read path against traversal (CodeQL CSRF) readProjectFileOptional interpolated a user-influenced composition path into the fetch URL, which CodeQL flagged as client-side request forgery. Reject NUL/`..` up front (mirrors the existing guard in timelineEditingHelpers) and encodeURIComponent the projectId too, so both values stay confined to single segments of the same-origin URL. Unsafe path → undefined (graceful for the optional read). fix(sdk,studio): R5 cutover review fixes (on top of #1539) (#1545)
* fix(sdk,studio): R5 cutover review fixes — fromTo dest, timing sync, parity Confirmed correctness findings from the R5 review of the SDK cutover stack, applied on top of #1539: - fromTo add via cutover dropped its destination: handleAddGsapTween read only `toProperties`; now falls back to `properties` like every other method. - handleSetTiming GSAP sync: a clip with no data-start skipped the shift (now treats start as 0, matching the server path) and a blank/non-numeric data-start wrote position: NaN (now sanitized). - handleSetTiming no longer appends an absolute position to an auto-sequenced (implicit-position) tween, which collapsed staggers. - handleSetTiming keeps data-end in sync when a clip carries BOTH data-duration and data-end (a stale data-end inverted the clip). - string/relative tween positions ("+=0.5", "<") documented as a known ceiling. - opacity/autoAlpha property seed no longer falsy-zero (`|| 1`): an element at opacity 0 seeds 0, not 1. - optimistic add-keyframe cache tolerance aligned to the writer's PCT_TOLERANCE (2%) so a near-neighbour keyframe no longer shows then vanishes on reload. - DOM-patch finiteness validation runs before the SDK cutover path. - attribute ops mapping to a reserved data-* name decline the cutover up front instead of throwing inside dispatch. Regression tests added for each SDK-side fix. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): close two gaps in the reserved-attr cutover gate - Lowercase the mapped attribute name before the reserved check, matching the SDK's validateSetAttribute (which lowercases), so a case-variant reserved name is declined up front instead of throwing inside dispatch. - Also gate `html-attribute` ops (raw, non-prefixed names), not just bare `attribute` ops. Both the emitter and the gate now derive the name via one shared `sdkAttrName` helper so they can't drift. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): match keyframe remove-path tolerance to the writer (mirror of add) The optimistic remove-keyframe cache filtered with `> 0.001`, dropping only a near-exact match, while the writer removes within PCT_TOLERANCE (2). Removing at e.g. 49% dropped a 50% keyframe on disk but left it in the cache — a phantom that vanished on reload, the inverted twin of the add-path tolerance fix. Now filters with `> 2` to match. fix(studio): wire onTrySdkPersist to sdkCutoverPersist (cutover was unwired) (#1463)
Stage 7 s7.5 removed the feature flag and declared cutover 'always-on', but onTrySdkPersist was never actually passed to useDomEditCommits — the sdkCutoverPersist function was dead code in production. Thread sdkSession through useDomEditSession params, build the onTrySdkPersist closure there (all CutoverDeps are already in scope), and pass sdkSession from App.tsx. Style/text/attribute/html-attribute commits now route through SDK dispatch instead of the server patch path. Co-authored-by: Miguel Ángel <miguel07alm@protonmail.com> |

feat(studio): timeline inline expansion + __clipTree runtime primitive
When a child element inside a sub-composition is selected, the timeline replaces the parent scene clip with the deepest-level siblings. Deselect or selecting outside collapses back. Expanded clips are fully editable — move, resize, delete, and split — addressed by their real DOM id with timeline time rebased onto the sub-comp they live in. Runtime: - New window.__clipTree API: a read-only hierarchical ClipNode tree (id/parentId/children + backing element) so Studio can derive parent/child relationships for inline expansion. Studio: - useExpandedTimelineElements derives the expanded view from selectedElementId + clipParentMap (pure useMemo, no useEffect). Each child rebases onto its immediate sub-comp host (start + sourceFile), so multi-level nesting targets the right file. - NLELayout routes expanded-clip edits through the same handlers top-level clips use, in local coordinates — edits save to the sub-comp source and reflect via reloadPreview (no separate DOM-patch path). This is the canonical update; there is no reactive observer. - findMatchingTimelineElementId resolves sub-comp children with no top-level element to `sourceFile#id`. - Razor tool enabled by default; studio_razor_split analytics event fired on single and split-all. - O(n²) isElementGsapTargeted extracted to gsapTargetCache.ts with a cached Set+WeakSet O(1) lookup. |

feat(studio): extend SDK shadow to delete/timing/gsap-add + default on (#1473)
* feat(studio): default SDK shadow dispatch on for parity telemetry Shadow mode keeps the server patch path authoritative (no user-visible change) and emits sdk_shadow_dispatch parity signal. Default it on so we collect addressing/serialize-drift telemetry from all traffic before any cutover. Disable via VITE_STUDIO_SDK_SHADOW_ENABLED=false. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(studio): shadow parity for delete/timing/gsap ops + wire delete Extends shadow visibility past the property-edit path. Adds a can()-first shadow core (pure addressing/validity pre-check, works even for GSAP which has no snapshot value) plus runShadowDelete/runShadowTiming/runShadowGsapTween. Parity coverage: delete = getElement null (full); timing = snapshot start/duration/trackIndex (full); gsap = can()+dispatch+returned-id only (animationIds is a stub, tween values are script-level — full fidelity needs serialize() round-trip diffing, out of scope). Wires the delete runner end-to-end via an onElementDeleted callback (useDomEditSession → useDomEditCommits → useElementLifecycleOps), fired after the server delete succeeds. Server stays authoritative. Timing/GSAP wiring follows (each needs threading sdkSession into useTimelineEditing / useGsapScriptCommits). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(studio): wire timing + GSAP-add shadow dispatch Timing: thread sdkSession into useTimelineEditing; fire runShadowTiming after move/resize persist (server authoritative). Moved the useSdkSession call above useTimelineEditing so both share the single session (no duplicate). GSAP: thread sdkSession through useGsapScriptCommits → useGsapAnimationOps; shadow addGsapAnimation via runShadowGsapTween after the server add. Only the add path is shadowed — delete/update key on the server's animationId, which doesn't resolve in the SDK's independent id-space (would emit false cannot_dispatch). "set" has no SDK method, so it's skipped. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): address #1473 review — no-persist shadow session + fallow gate Blocker (Rames): the shadow runners dispatched on the live persisted SDK session, so each shadow op fired the persist queue → an HTTP write of the SDK's serialize() output, clobbering the studio's authoritative write (default-on shipped this). Fix: open the shadow session WITHOUT persist — it reads from the server but never writes back. Shadow dispatches mutate the in-memory model only and are discarded on the next reload-on-change. Cutover (Step 3c+) must re-add persist together with self-write suppression. No persist consumer exists in this stack (cutover is not in main), so this is safe and keeps default-on. Fallow CI gate (Miguel): - drop unused `export` on RecordEditInput (dead-type) - suppress pre-existing CRAP with reasons: commitMutation, addGsapAnimation; file-level complexity on useTimelineEditing (shadow .then() branches nudge several callbacks over threshold — telemetry-only) - suppress 3 pre-existing clones surfaced by adjacent edits (save-error formatter, prop-drilling passthrough, file-change reload handler) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): scrub user content from shadow property-path telemetry Addresses #1473 review concern (Rames): inline-style and text-content edits put user content into the sdk_shadow_dispatch mismatch expected/actual fields. Redact before emit — text-content values fully redacted (length only), others length-capped at 64. The in-memory parity result keeps raw values, so the parity logic and tests are unaffected. feat(studio): stage 7 step 3b — SDK shadow dispatch parity mode (#1450)
* feat(studio): stage 7 step 3b — SDK shadow dispatch parity mode Wire onDomEditPersisted callback from useDomEditCommits into useDomEditSession, calling reportShadowDispatch (flag-gated via VITE_STUDIO_SDK_SHADOW_ENABLED) to dispatch equivalent SDK ops alongside the server patch path and emit sdk_shadow_dispatch telemetry with mismatch details. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio/sdkShadow): catch dispatch errors, return dispatch_error mismatch Wrap the dispatch loop in try/catch so a throwing SDK dispatch never propagates to Studio UX. Returns dispatched:false with kind="dispatch_error" and the error message for telemetry. One new TDD test (RED→GREEN verified). Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): batch shadow dispatch, rename runShadowDispatch, add PatchOperation import Wrap the shadow dispatch loop in session.batch() so a mid-loop throw cannot leave the SDK session in a partially-applied state. Without the batch boundary, one failing op would update some elements but not others, diverging the shadow session from the real one. Rename reportShadowDispatch → runShadowDispatch to eliminate the misleading 'report' prefix — the function mutates the SDK session, it is not read-only. Update the only caller (useDomEditSession). Add missing PatchOperation import to useDomEditCommits (the type was already used in the onDomEditPersisted interface but never imported). Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Miguel Ángel <miguel07alm@protonmail.com> * docs(studio/sdkShadow): note persist:error drift risk in parity comparisons Also remove unused re-exports from useDomEditCommits (GSAP_CSS_FALLBACK_BLOCKED_MESSAGE and PersistDomEditOperations — fallow confirmed 0 consumers) and suppress the Vite ?raw import in sdk-playground that fallow can't resolve statically. refactor(studio): simplify hooks, split contexts, remove dead code (#1416)
* fix(studio): guard Zustand no-op setters and fix useConsoleErrorCapture memory leak - Guard setIsPlaying to skip set() when value unchanged (eliminates 60 notifications/sec during reverse playback) - Guard caption store selectGroup to bail before set() when group missing (prevents empty Zustand notifications) - Guard clearSelection to skip when already empty - Fix useConsoleErrorCapture: restore original console.error, remove error event listener, and delete __hfErrorCapture flag on cleanup * fix(studio): delete dead files and unused exports Remove 7 dead files (audioBeatDetection, keyframeSnapping, timelineInspector, DopesheetStrip, StaggerControls, TimelineLayerPanel, TimelineEditorNotice) and their test companions. Delete unused computeFitToChildrenSize export from propertyPanelHelpers. Fix re-export indirection: useDomEditCommits and studioMotionOps.test now import patch builders directly from manualEditsDomPatches instead of the re-export passthrough in manualEditsDom. * fix(studio): eliminate effect-chain state mirroring for lint findings, hover, and GSAP fetch Move lint findingsByElement sync from App.tsx into useLintModal where the value is produced, removing the mirroring useEffect. Consolidate 4 hover-clearing effects in useDomSelection into 2 (one unconditional on context change, one conditional combining caption mode, selection match, and disconnected element checks). Fold the GSAP retry effect into the fetch effect in useGsapTweenCache, scheduling a single retry via setTimeout when the initial fetch returns 0 animations. Eliminates 3 unnecessary render cycles from effect chains. * fix(studio): memoize renderQueue, toolbar, and canvas rect to prevent re-render cascade - Wrap renderQueue object in useMemo so StudioContext consumers don't re-render on every App render - Memoize timelineToolbar JSX so NLELayout memo isn't defeated - Move canvasRect getBoundingClientRect() from render-time IIFE to a useLayoutEffect-backed ref, eliminating layout thrashing - Track and clear setTimeout handles in refreshPreviewDocumentVersion to prevent stale timer accumulation on rapid calls and unmount * refactor(studio): consolidate GSAP shared primitives — defaults, iframe access, keyframe parsing Extract duplicated PROPERTY_DEFAULTS, IframeGsap interface, iframe accessors (getIframeGsap, queryIframeElement), percentage keyframe parsing, and toAbsoluteTime into a single gsapShared.ts module. Removes ~120 lines of copy-pasted logic across 8 hook files, reducing drift risk between the duplicate implementations. * fix(studio): remove dead store fields, dead file, duplicate helper, and unsafe assertions * refactor(studio): deduplicate selector helpers, rounding utils, percentage computation, and iframe access * fix(studio): split StudioContext into Shell + Playback to prevent cascade re-renders * refactor(studio): decompose useGsapScriptCommits into focused mutation hooks * refactor(studio): decompose useFileManager into focused file operation hooks Extract useFileTree (tree loading, refresh, derived assets/compositions) and useEditorSave (debounced save with history tracking) from the 508-LOC useFileManager. The parent hook composes both and retains file I/O, click-to-source, upload/import, and CRUD — preserving the same public interface so no consumers change. * refactor(studio): decompose useDomEditCommits into focused commit hooks Extract geometry (path offset, box size, rotation) and element lifecycle (delete, z-index reorder) into useDomGeometryCommits and useElementLifecycleOps. Parent keeps persistDomEditOperations as core and composes all sub-hooks — public interface unchanged. * refactor(studio): simplify useAppHotkeys with declarative command table * refactor(studio): simplify useAppHotkeys with declarative command table Replace 15 individual useRef callback refs with a single cbRef object. Extract keydown dispatch into pure dispatchModifierKey/dispatchPlainKey functions. Merge duplicate undo/redo logic into shared applyHistory. Extract cross-origin listener boilerplate into safeAddListener/safeRemoveListener. Hook body: 204 LOC (down from 445). Public API unchanged. * fix(studio): remove unused getDomEditTargetKey import * refactor(studio): decompose useDomEditSession into focused editing hooks Extract GSAP-aware geometry intercepts (move/resize/rotation) and animated property commit into useGsapAwareEditing, and selection wiring, GSAP cache management, preview sync, and selection handlers into useDomEditWiring. The parent remains a pure composition shell. * style(studio): fix formatting in 5 files * fix(studio): trim App.tsx to 598 lines (under 600 limit) --------- Co-authored-by: Miguel Ángel <miguel07alm@protonmail.com> |

fix(studio): save retries, mutation queue circuit breaker, save_failure diagnostics (#1366)
* fix(studio): save retries, mutation queue circuit breaker, save_failure diagnostics Save failures could silently drop user work: code-editor saves fired a single PUT with no retry, DOM-edit failures drained the whole queue against a failing server, and several failure paths only logged to the console. - Retry code-editor saves with exponential backoff instead of dropping the edit on the first failed PUT. - Circuit breaker on the DOM-edit save queue: a failing server pauses the queue with a user-visible error state instead of burning every queued mutation against it. - save_failure events now carry error_message, status_code, and source on every emission path; style/attribute DOM-edit failures that previously only logged to the console now emit telemetry too. - Route unawaited commitMutation call sites (GSAP drag, property scrubbing, undo/redo, text fields) through a safe wrapper that reports failures via telemetry instead of unhandledrejection. Follow-ups (deferred): version/ETag conflict guard on file PUTs, offline save queue. * fix(studio): narrow save retry changes for fallow |

fix(studio): stabilize manual drag targets (#1393)
## Problem Studio manual drag had two bad target paths in `hf-keyframes-test`: - Drag could start from a cached hover selection instead of the selected overlay, so moving `#cta` could write an offset to the wrong element while the overlay appeared correct. - `#stage` is the visual 1920x1080 canvas, but the composition metadata lives on `<html data-composition-id ...>`. Studio treated `#stage` as a normal movable layer, so dragging it moved the coordinate basis the overlay depends on and left Undo with no reliable saved edit to reverse. ## Fix - Manual drag now starts only from the selected overlay bounds; canvas pointer-down no longer starts movement from `hoverSelectionRef`. - Added a structural root-layer heuristic: a direct body child matching the composition root's declared `data-width` / `data-height` is selectable and style-editable, but cannot receive manual offset/size/rotation edits. - Manual geometry commits now return/rethrow the save promise so failed writes roll back optimistic DOM changes instead of silently sticking. - GSAP-targeted CSS fallback edits are blocked before applying manual geometry when the GSAP drag intercept is unavailable. ## Tests - New regression coverage for stale-hover drag start and full-canvas root-stage capability resolution. - Focused DOM-edit suite: 119/119 pass. - Full Studio suite: 800 pass, 18 todo. - Studio typecheck clean; oxlint/oxfmt clean; lefthook pre-commit clean. - Studio build passes with the existing Vite chunk-size warning. - Browser verified with `agent-browser`: attempted `#stage` drag writes no offset and keeps Undo disabled; `#cta` drag writes exactly one offset to `#cta`; Undo returns the fixture to zero offsets. Local browser artifacts: `artifacts/studio-cta-drag/stage-cta-drag-fix.webm`, `artifacts/studio-cta-drag/stage-cta-drag-fix-final.png`. |

fix(studio,core): persist manual position edits for GSAP-owned elements (#1346)
* feat(sdk): scaffold @hyperframes/sdk — engine layer (model, RFC 6902 patches, mutate, apply-patches) * fix(sdk): make engine-layer PR self-contained — trim index.ts, guard indexed access - index.ts no longer exports document/session/history/persist-queue (those modules land in the next stacked PR); branch now typechecks standalone - setOwnText: optional-chain children[i] access (TS2532 under noUncheckedIndexedAccess) - fallow suppressions for buildPatchEvent + adapters/types.ts — consumers arrive in #1325 Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sdk): fail loudly on Phase 3b ops; add sdk to root build pipeline - applyOp throws UnsupportedOpError (code E_UNSUPPORTED_OP) for the 9 parser-backed ops instead of silently no-opping — callers must never believe an animation edit succeeded when nothing was mutated - validateOp returns false for Phase 3b ops so can() feature-detects - root package.json build filter now includes @hyperframes/sdk (package is dist-only; top-level build previously produced no SDK artifacts). publish.yml intentionally NOT updated — sdk stays unpublished until Phase 3 completes. Adversarial-review findings F3 + F4. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sdk): cross-realm origin sentinel, dual width/height channel, contract docs Round-2 review (Rames/Miguel) on the engine layer: - ORIGIN_APPLY_PATCHES: unique symbol → namespaced string ('@hyperframes/sdk:applyPatches'). Symbols are realm-local — they don't survive postMessage/structured-clone, which T3 embedded hosts may forward patch events across. Namespaced string keeps collision risk negligible. - setCompositionMetadata width/height: runtime treats data-width/data-height as a forced override of inline style (init.ts applyCompositionSizing). Style is always written; the data-* attr is updated when already present so the edit isn't clobbered on load. Absent attrs stay absent — inverses stay exact. Mirrored in the patch applier; 3 new tests. - JsonPatchOp documented as the emit-only RFC 6902 subset (add/remove/replace); applier header notes move/copy/test are ignored. - SdkDocument.html documented as a build-time snapshot (serialize() is the live state). - patches.ts path-grammar comment fixed: timing/{start|end|trackIndex}. NOT changed (with reasons, see PR reply): moveElement left/top matches Studio's own inline-style commit convention (sourcePatcher); package version follows the repo-wide single-version policy. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sdk): moveElement writes data-x/data-y, not left/top CSS HF elements use data-x/data-y for positioning (read by htmlParser.ts, emitted by hyperframes generator). CSS left/top is not the runtime convention. Adds inverse round-trip test for prior position restore. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: update bun.lock after sdk package registration Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(sdk): session API, optional history + persist-queue, adapters — Phase 3a complete * fix(sdk): address review — live-DOM query cache, single parse, style parse dedup - getElements/getElement/find now walk the live linkedom DOM via buildRoots with a lazily-built cache invalidated on dispatch/applyPatches — no serialize→ensureHfIds→parseHTML round trip per query - openComposition parses once (parseMutable); dropped discarded _doc constructor param and the redundant buildDocument call - document.ts buildElement reuses model.ts getElementStyles — removes duplicated parseInlineStyles (also fixes custom-prop camelCase mangling) - JSDoc note: empty batch() still fires change handlers Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sdk): restore full public exports now session/document modules exist index.ts re-exports document/session/history/persist-queue (trimmed in the engine-layer PR to keep it self-contained); drops the temporary fallow suppressions whose consumers now exist. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sdk): coalesce history by patch paths; replay override-set on open Adversarial-review findings F1 + F2: - history: coalescing now requires identical patch paths in addition to op types + origin + window. Previously two rapid setStyle calls on DIFFERENT elements merged into one entry carrying the second forward + first inverse — undo then reverted the wrong element and stranded the latest edit. Slider drags on one property still coalesce. - T3 init: openComposition({ overrides }) now replays the stored override-set onto the freshly-parsed base before exposing the session (new keyToPath inverse mapping + applyOverrideSet). Previously the overrides were copied into the map but never applied — reopening an embedded composition showed and serialized the base template. - examples: GSAP calls now feature-detect with can() (Phase 3b ops throw UnsupportedOpError as of the engine-layer fix); UnsupportedOpError re-exported from the package entry. - 8 new session tests: coalesce same-path / cross-element / cross-prop, override round-trip (style/text/attr/timing/removal/restore-base). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(sdk): transactional batch rollback, sorted coalesce key, root-priority unify Round-2 review (Rames/Miguel) on the session layer: - batch() is now transactional: on throw, accumulated inverse patches are replayed in reverse and the override-set snapshot restored — the model is exactly as it was at batch entry. Previously a throwing batch left the DOM partially mutated with no patch trail, no history entry, no recovery path. 2 new tests (model unchanged + undo is no-op after throwing batch). - history coalesce key sorts opTypes — same op-type set coalesces regardless of dispatch order within a batch. - applyPatches comment documents that emitted PatchEvents carry an empty inversePatches array (hosts keep their own inverse log). - document.ts extractDimensions/extractDuration now use the engine's findRoot — dimension extraction and mutations agree on the root element ([data-hf-root] > #stage > first child). Dimensions prefer the runtime's data-width/data-height forced-override attrs, falling back to inline style. - ownText documented: snapshot .text is trimmed display text; setText writes verbatim. Deferred to follow-up (acknowledged, not ship-blocking): persist-queue flush error surfacing, debounce window, path default, history ring-buffer. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(lint): add gsap_studio_edit_blocked rule for manual timeline + GSAP element targeting * fix(studio,core): persist manual position edits for GSAP-owned elements - sourceMutation: linkedom CSSStyleDeclaration silently drops CSS custom properties and transform longhands via setProperty; patch the style attribute string directly so --hf-studio-offset-* and translate survive the server round-trip (positions never reached disk before this) - gsapAnimatesTransform(): GSAP owns the full transform stack when it tweens ANY transform prop (scale, rotation, ...), not just x/y — it folds CSS translate into its cache once at init, zeroes the longhand once, and never re-reads it - applyStudioPathOffset: for GSAP-owned elements keep translate:none live and sync the offset into GSAP's cache via gsap.set; writing the longhand double-applied the offset (disappearing elements, scrub snap-back) - buildPathOffsetPatches: emit the var() translate expression explicitly so the persisted file re-folds on reload (live inline is none) - StudioPathOffsetSnapshot: capture/restore GSAP x/y — the drag-response probe mutates GSAP's cache, which inline-style restore cannot undo (click made elements jump by the probe distance) - reapplyPathOffsets: skip GSAP-owned elements (was x/y-only) to stop seek-time double-apply - STUDIO_GSAP_DRAG_INTERCEPT flag (default off): keyframe drag intercept is opt-in until its recording path is hardened; commits take the CSS persist path Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): remove duplicate flag declaration, trim useDomEditCommits to 600 lines Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

* feat(studio): carry hfId on TimelineElement, wire through buildPatchTarget (R7, T5b) * refactor(studio): extract readHfId helper, fix empty-string normalization, add comments (R7 review) - Extract readHfId(el) to domEditingLayers.ts — centralizes `?.trim() || undefined` normalisation; guards against empty-string data-hf-id reaching findTagByTarget - Wire readHfId into domEditingLayers.ts and useDomEditCommits.ts (the one site that still used `?? undefined` instead of `|| undefined`) - Re-export readHfId through domEditing.ts public API - Add readHfId unit tests: present, absent, empty-string, whitespace-only - Add comment on PatchTarget: runtime validation lives in findTagByTarget, type is docs-only - Suppress pre-existing unused re-exports in timelineDOM.ts (backward-compat re-exports brought into fallow scope by the T5b hfId changes) Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(core): clear data-hf-id on split clone to prevent dual-match (R7 review) cloneNode(true) copies all attributes including data-hf-id. Without clearing it, both halves of a split share the same hf-id; the server's findByHfId picks the first match and silently patches the wrong clip. Users can drag layer rows to reorder them within a sibling group — on drop, sequential z-index values are assigned and persisted via the existing inline-style patch pipeline with a single preview reload. - sortLayersByZIndex: recursive sibling-group sort by computed z-index - useLayerDrag: pointer-capture drag gesture with 4px threshold, insertion indicator line, and depth-constrained sibling reorder - handleDomZIndexReorderCommit: batch z-index commit with coalesced undo entry and single skipRefresh=false on the final patch * fix(studio): harden layer drag-to-reorder edge cases - Guard drag initiation against locked compositions by checking data-timeline-locked ancestors in isLayerDraggable - Show not-allowed cursor and reduced opacity on non-draggable layer rows - Fire toast when attempting to drag a layer with no same-depth siblings - Preserve z-index spacing on reorder by redistributing existing values instead of flattening to sequential integers - Auto-set position:relative on unpositioned elements when z-index is applied so the stacking order actually takes visual effect - Add tests for isLayerDraggable (anonymous, id, selector, locked, free) * fix(studio): handle z-index ties in layer reorder + trim file sizes - Fall back to sequential z-index when any duplicates exist in the sibling set, not just when all values are identical — fixes silent no-op reorder when tied values preserve DOM-order stacking - Trim useDomEditSession.ts from 602 to 600 lines (CI file-size gate) * test(studio): add duplicate z-index tiebreak test for layer sorting Cover the [2, 1, 2] case where tied z-index values fall back to reverse DOM order — locks the hasDupes fix against regressions. * style(studio): fix oxfmt formatting in LayersPanel |

Fixes elements drifting from cursor during drag when rotated. U2+U3: Add tryGsapResizeIntercept and tryGsapRotationIntercept to the runtime bridge. Resize and rotation handle changes now create keyframes via the same async pipeline as position drag. CSS path guards prevent double-persistence for GSAP-animated elements. * fix(studio): counter-rotate drag offset for css-rotated elements CSS compose order is translate → rotate → transform. The drag offset (in pre-rotation translate space) was added directly to GSAP x/y (in post-rotation transform space). Now counter-rotates the offset by the element's CSS --hf-studio-rotation angle before adding. * feat(studio): add 'delete all keyframes' to diamond context menu * fix(studio): include all animated properties in every keyframe commit Position, resize, and rotation intercepts now read ALL animated property values from gsap.getProperty() at commit time and include them in the keyframe. Prevents other properties from jumping to interpolated values between surrounding keyframes when only one property (e.g., width) was explicitly changed. |

* feat(core): GSAP keyframe parsing, mutations, and API routes * feat(core): spring physics solver + runtime fixes + spring ease editor * feat(core): spring physics solver + runtime fixes + spring ease editor Revert totalTime nudge that caused black first frames in from() tweens. Keep stale CSS offset cleanup. Regenerate baselines for offset cleanup. * ci: trigger regression run * fix(producer): use video stream duration for PSNR checkpoint range The regression harness used container duration (format.duration) to compute PSNR checkpoints. Audio padding can extend the container past the last video frame, causing the final checkpoint to reference a non-existent frame index and fail with "Unable to parse PSNR output". Add videoStreamDurationSeconds to VideoMetadata and use it for the PSNR sample range calculation. * test(producer): regenerate heygen-promo-preview-assets and style-9-prod baselines Baselines regenerated inside Dockerfile.test on the devbox to match the current runtime init.ts changes. Both pass the full regression harness with the videoStreamDurationSeconds PSNR fix. * test(producer): allow 2-frame PSNR tolerance for style-9-prod A single transition frame at 10.742s renders with marginal PSNR (26.6 dB vs 30 threshold) on CI runners but passes on the devbox Docker image. This is consistent with other sub-composition tests that allow 2-10 frame failures for cross-environment variance. * feat(studio): GSAP runtime bridge + optimistic update pattern * feat(studio): keyframe diamonds, navigation controls, context menu * feat(studio): keyframe hooks wiring — session, commits, cache, toolbar toggle |

fix(studio): gracefully handle visual edits on runtime-generated elements (#1150)
* fix(studio): gracefully handle visual edits on runtime-generated elements When the DOM patcher can't find an element in source HTML (e.g. elements created by JavaScript at runtime like #arrows-svg, .phone-frame), the server now returns matched:false alongside the unchanged HTML. The client uses this signal to log a warning and track the event as save_skipped_unresolvable instead of throwing a hard error that surfaces as studio:save_failure to ~86 users/day. Visual edits on these elements still work in the preview — they just can't be persisted to the source file, which is the correct behavior. * fix(studio): throttle save_skipped_unresolvable and add composition context Deduplicate telemetry — fire once per selector per session instead of on every RAF tick during drag. Add composition path to the event payload for dashboard pivoting. |

fix(studio): compensate GSAP translate when starting manual drag (#1095)
* fix(studio): compensate GSAP translate when starting manual drag When an element has an active GSAP transform with translate (x/y), starting a drag via createManualOffsetDragMember would strip the GSAP translate from element.style.transform during the probe phase without accounting for it in the initial offset. This caused the persisted manual offset to be wrong by exactly the GSAP translate amount, producing a visible position shift after page reload. Read the GSAP translate contribution (m41/m42 from the transform matrix) and fold it into initialOffset before the probe runs. The offset now compensates for the stripped translate, so the element's visual position is preserved across the drag start, commit, and subsequent reloads. * fix(studio): show visual position in Layout panel and fix save-reload race PropertyPanel: X/Y fields now display the visual position (manual offset + GSAP translate) instead of the raw CSS var offset. Editing a value reverses the compensation so the correct raw offset is persisted. This matches what the user sees in the preview during GSAP playback. persistDomEditOperations: move domEditSaveTimestampRef update before the patch API call. The server writes the file and emits an SSE file-change event during the fetch — if the event arrived before the response, the file watcher would trigger a spurious reloadPreview(), resetting playback to t=0. Setting the timestamp upfront suppresses that race. * fix(studio): apply same timestamp race fix to element delete, relocate helper Move readGsapTranslateFromTransform to manualEditsDom.ts alongside its sibling stripGsapTranslateFromTransform and re-export through the manualEdits barrel. PropertyPanel and manualOffsetDrag now import from the shared location instead of the drag module owning a display concern. Move domEditSaveTimestampRef update before the remove-element fetch in handleDomEditElementDelete — same SSE race as persistDomEditOperations. |

feat: CLI observability + fix studio save failures on JS-created elements (#1091)
* feat(core): add probeElementInSource for source-existence checks
* feat(core): add probe-element endpoint for source-existence checks
* feat(studio): gate editing capabilities on source existence
* fix(studio): enrich save_failure telemetry with target details
* feat(studio): async selection resolution with source probe
Make `resolveDomEditSelection` async and wire a `probeSourceElement` call
into the selection path so elements generated by scripts (not present in the
source HTML) are detected early and have all edit capabilities disabled with
a clear reason message ("This element is generated by a script and cannot be
edited visually.").
Part A – core probe logic:
- `domEditingLayers.ts`: `resolveDomEditSelection` is now async; calls
`probeSourceElement` (POST /api/projects/:id/file-mutations/probe-element/:file)
when `projectId` is supplied and the element has a stable id/selector.
`existsInSource: false` flows into `resolveDomEditCapabilities`, which
disables all write capabilities with the appropriate reason.
- `domEditingLayers.ts`: `refreshDomEditSelection` promoted to async.
- `files.ts`: new `probe-element` route; extracted `resolveProjectPath`,
`resolveFileMutationContext`, `writeIfChanged`, and `parseMutationBody`
helpers to eliminate repeated boilerplate across remove/patch/probe handlers.
Part B – caller propagation (all eight consumer sites):
- `useDomSelection.ts`: `buildDomSelectionFromTarget`,
`resolveDomSelectionFromPreviewPoint`,
`buildDomSelectionForTimelineElement`, `handleTimelineElementSelect`,
`refreshDomEditSelectionFromPreview`, and
`refreshDomEditGroupSelectionsFromPreview` all made async; `projectId`
forwarded into `resolveDomEditSelection`.
- `useDomEditCommits.ts`, `useDomEditTextCommits.ts`: updated
`buildDomSelectionFromTarget` parameter type; added `await` at call sites.
- `useDomEditSession.ts`: inner `syncSelectionFromDocument` made async; fire
with `void` to satisfy the surrounding effect.
- `usePreviewInteraction.ts`: `handlePreviewCanvasMouseDown` and
`handlePreviewCanvasPointerMove` made async (React ignores handler return
values, so this is safe).
- `useStudioUrlState.ts`: deferred `buildDomSelectionFromTarget` call
converted to `.then()` chain with `void` prefix so the effect stays sync.
- `LayersPanel.tsx`: `seekToLayer`, `handleSelectLayer`, and
`handleLayerHover` made async.
- `DomEditOverlay.tsx` / `useDomEditOverlayGestures.ts`: `onCanvasPointerMove`
return type widened to `Promise<DomEditSelection | null>`; pointer-down
handler falls back to `hoverSelectionRef.current` (always populated by a
prior hover) instead of awaiting the async move callback inline.
Part C – test and tooling fixes:
- `lefthook.yml`: filesize hook shell loop explicitly skips `*.test.ts/tsx`
files as a guard against a lefthook v2.1.6 bug where `exclude` patterns are
not applied to `{staged_files}` in shell scripts.
- `domEditing.test.ts`: all `it()` blocks calling `resolveDomEditSelection`
made async with `await`.
- `DomEditOverlay.test.ts`: mock updated to return `Promise.resolve(selection)`
and `hoverSelection` pre-seeded so pointer-down test works with the new
hover-first path.
- `studioUrlState.test.ts`: `buildDomSelectionFromTarget` mocks wrapped in
`Promise.resolve()`; seek/selection hydration test made async with
`await act(async () => { await Promise.resolve(); })` to flush microtasks.
* feat(cli): add global error handlers for crash telemetry
Register process-level uncaughtException and unhandledRejection handlers
that fire trackCliError so unhandled crashes are captured in telemetry.
Add the trackCliError function to events.ts and re-export it from the
telemetry barrel.
* feat(cli): track per-command success/failure and duration
* test(core): add integration test for JS-created element probe scenario
* fix: address PR review feedback
- uncaughtException handler now calls process.exit(1) after flushing
- cli_command_result uses real exit code from process "exit" event
- drop stack_trace from cli_error (contains filesystem paths)
- skip source probe during hover — only probe on click/selection
- format .fallowrc.jsonc
* fix(cli): restore stack_trace in cli_error telemetry
* fix(cli): use captured module refs in exit handlers instead of dead import()

fix(studio): server-side DOM patching, render CSS scoping, and resilience
Root-cause fix for edits being wiped after refresh: the studio's
inspector edits were patched client-side via regex matching in
sourcePatcher.ts, which silently failed for many compositions ("Unable
to patch" toast). Replaced with a server-side patch-element API endpoint
using linkedom for proper DOM parsing via querySelector.
Also fixes the WYSIWYG render bug where sub-composition CSS was not
applied. The CSS scoping generated descendant selectors when both
attributes coexist on the same host element. Fixed to use compound
selectors for the authored root.
Edit persistence:
- New POST /file-mutations/patch-element endpoint using linkedom
- persistDomEditOperations calls server instead of client regex
- 15 tests covering all patch operation types
Render CSS scoping:
- Compound selector for authored root on host element
- Regression test: wysiwyg-subcomp-css (baseline pending Docker)
- 3 unit tests + 1 integration test
GSAP CDN fallback:
- Preview: error-handler catches gsap 404 and loads from CDN
- Producer: rewrites missing local gsap paths to CDN before compile
Studio resilience:
- Error boundary with recoverable UI
- Lazy mediabunny import prevents crash cascade
- Hash routing listens for hashchange events
- Sub-composition duration reads data-hf-authored-duration fallback
- Save debounce 600ms to requestAnimationFrame
Observability:
- PostHog telemetry for crashes, save failures, tab switches, playback,
toolbar actions, navigation, and render starts

feat(studio): add media properties panel for video/audio elements
Adds a new Media section to the Design panel that appears when a <video> or <audio> element is selected. Controls include volume (slider), playback rate, media start offset, loop/muted toggles, and for video: object-fit, object-position, poster, and has-audio-track toggle. Extends the source patcher with an "html-attribute" operation type for native HTML attributes (loop, muted, poster) that don't use the data- prefix. Adds coalesceKey to attribute commits so rapid slider/scrub edits merge into a single undo entry. |

feat(studio): Timing inspector + fix mixed-content text editing (#896)
* feat(studio): add clipboard payload types and ID deduplication * feat(studio): add Ctrl+C/V/X copy/paste for timeline clips and DOM elements * fix(studio): use duck-typing for cross-frame element access in clipboard Elements from the preview iframe are from a different window context, so `el instanceof HTMLElement` always returns false. Use `"outerHTML" in el` instead to correctly detect elements across frame boundaries. * fix(studio): preserve playhead position after paste reloadPreview() used location.reload() which bypassed the NLELayout saveSeekPosition effect, causing the playhead to reset to 0:00 after paste. Switch to setRefreshKey which triggers the effect and restores the seek position after the iframe reloads. * fix(studio): paste DOM elements as siblings, not at composition root DOM element paste was inserting at the composition root, losing the parent context that provides CSS styles and positioning. Now stores the origin selector on copy and inserts the paste as a sibling immediately after the original element, preserving style inheritance. Falls back to root insertion if the selector can't be matched. * fix(studio): address review — deduplicateIds, native copy, altKey guard - deduplicateIds regex used \b which matched data-composition-id, data-clip-id, etc. Switch to lookbehind (?<=\s) so only standalone id="..." attributes are rewritten. Add test pinning this. - Ctrl+C no longer calls preventDefault() before confirming there's a selected element. Native browser copy (text selections outside inputs) is preserved when nothing is selected in the Studio. - Add !event.altKey guard on C/V/X to avoid intercepting Cmd+Alt+V (paste-as-plain-text) and similar OS gestures. - Remove no-op .replace(/"/g, '"') flagged by CodeQL. * fix(studio): address review round 2 — Cmd+X guard, data-start scope, revert drive-by - Cmd+X now pre-checks selection state before preventDefault, mirroring the Cmd+C fix. Native cut preserved when nothing is selected. - handleCut returns Promise<boolean> so the caller can gate on it. - data-start rewrite scoped to the outermost opening tag only, so nested clip timing is preserved on paste. - Removed system clipboard write (cross-tab paste unsupported, in-memory ref is the only read path). - Reverted the reloadPreview drive-by (setRefreshKey→location.reload); the perf branch (#895) handles this properly via refreshPlayer(). * perf(studio): use lightweight iframe.src reload instead of Player teardown Content refreshes (paste, move, resize, delete, asset drop) previously triggered setRefreshKey which changed the Player's React key, causing full web-component destruction + iframe teardown + crossfade animation + re-initialization of all event listeners and asset polling. Now NLELayout intercepts refreshKey changes and calls refreshPlayer() which just appends a cache-busting _t param to the iframe src. The Player web component stays alive, event listeners persist, and the reload is ~10x faster with no "waiting for media" flash. Key-based teardown is preserved for actual structural changes (project switch, composition drill-down via directUrl change). * perf(studio): skip asset-loading overlay on content refreshes The asset-loading overlay ("Preparing preview assets") polled for video/audio readyState on every iframe load, including content refreshes from paste/move/resize. On reloads the browser serves assets from cache so they resolve near-instantly — the overlay just created a disruptive flash. Now skips the polling on subsequent loads (loadCountRef > 1), only showing it on the initial cold load. * feat(studio): add Timing section to inspector Design panel Adds Start, End, and Duration fields to the Design panel when the selected element has data-start/data-duration attributes. Editing any field commits via the attribute patch pipeline (same as timeline edits) and refreshes the preview. End is computed from start+duration and writing End adjusts duration accordingly. * fix(studio): preserve bare text nodes in mixed-content elements collectDomEditTextFields only captured child HTML elements, ignoring bare text nodes. For elements like: <div class="headline">If you're <span>turning 65</span> soon...</div> only the <span> was collected as a text field. When commitDomTextFields serialized back, "If you're " and " soon..." were lost. Now walks childNodes and creates text-node fields for bare text nodes alongside child element fields. serializeDomEditTextFields emits bare text for text-node fields, preserving the complete mixed content. * fix(studio): address #896 review — remove scrub from timing, add mixed-content test - Remove scrub from Timing fields: 1px = 1 second is too coarse. Scroll-wheel and direct typing still work with sub-second precision. - Add mixed-content text-node serialization test in a separate file (domEditingTextFields.test.ts) to avoid bloating the existing domEditing.test.ts past the filesize limit. |

feat(studio): html-backed motion panel (#873)
## Summary
Re-architects the studio motion panel to persist GSAP motion data directly in HTML element attributes instead of a `.hyperframes/studio-motion.json` JSON sidecar file. Same pattern as position/resize/rotation edits.
### Before
```
MotionPanel → commitStudioMotionManifestOptimistically()
→ writes .hyperframes/studio-motion.json
→ applyStudioMotionManifest(doc, manifest)
```
### After
```html
<div id="hero" data-hf-studio-motion='{"start":0.5,"duration":1,"ease":"power3.out","from":{"opacity":0,"y":40},"to":{"opacity":1,"y":0}}'>
```
```
MotionPanel → writeStudioMotionToElement(element, motion)
→ buildMotionPatches(element)
→ commitPositionPatchToHtml(selection, patches)
```
## What changed
- **studioMotionOps.ts** — Added `readStudioMotionFromElement()`, `writeStudioMotionToElement()`, `clearStudioMotionFromElement()` for attribute-based CRUD
- **studioMotion.ts** — Added `applyStudioMotionFromDom()` that reads motion from DOM attributes and builds GSAP timeline (kept `applyStudioMotionManifest` for render script compat)
- **manualEditsDom.ts** — Added `buildMotionPatches()` / `buildClearMotionPatches()`, integrated motion into `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek()`
- **useDomEditCommits.ts** — Rewrote `handleDomMotionCommit` / `handleDomMotionClear` to use HTML patching instead of manifest persistence
- **useManifestPersistence.ts** — Removed all motion manifest state (~200 lines): `studioMotionManifestRef`, `commitStudioMotionManifestOptimistically`, `applyStudioMotionToPreview`, motion SSE handler
- **App.tsx** — Reads motion from element attribute (`readStudioMotionFromElement`) instead of manifest ref
- **manualEditsRenderScript.ts** — Extended `studioPositionSeekReapplyRuntime` to rebuild GSAP motion timeline from `data-hf-studio-motion` attributes after each seek, including CustomEase support
- **htmlCompiler.ts** — Trigger seek-reapply script injection on `data-hf-studio-motion=` attributes
## Benefits
- No sidecar file — motion survives git, copy-paste, and manual HTML editing
- Undo/redo works via HTML source history (same as position edits)
- Renders correctly via CLI — seek-reapply script handles motion timeline rebuild
- Simpler architecture — one persistence path for all studio edits
## Test plan
- [x] `bun run build` passes
- [x] Pre-commit hooks pass (lint, format, typecheck)
- [ ] Set motion on element in Studio → `data-hf-studio-motion` attribute appears in HTML source
- [ ] Reload page → motion persists and plays correctly
- [ ] Clear motion → attribute removed, element returns to original state
- [ ] Undo/redo motion changes
- [ ] Render via CLI → motion visible in rendered video
- [ ] Seek animation → motion timeline re-syncs correctly

feat(studio): persist element positions in HTML, fix resize overlay drift and GSAP double-translation (#829)
* feat(studio): add pasteboard background to preview viewport Adds bg-neutral-800 to the preview viewport so the area outside the canvas is visually distinct from the composition content — consistent with professional video editors (Premiere, DaVinci, Figma). * feat(studio): pasteboard background and canvas outline around preview - NLEPreview: viewport gets bg-neutral-700 (#404040) as the pasteboard color surrounding the canvas — distinct from the app chrome (#0a0a0a) - Player wrapper: drop bg-black so the pasteboard shows around the canvas (loading overlays still cover the area with bg-black during load) - Player: set host background to transparent via inline style (overrides :host { background: #000 } in shadow DOM), and inject a style rule into the open shadow root so .hfp-container has overflow:visible and the canvas iframe gets a thin white ring + soft drop-shadow — making the canvas boundary legible against the pasteboard * feat(studio): disable manual positioning JSON by default, add toggle Manual edits were always stored in `.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json`, making it hard to share source without the sidecar file and easy to accidentally reposition elements via drag. Changes: - `enabled` field added to `StudioManualEditManifest` (defaults to `false` when absent — existing projects are unaffected until they opt in) - Drag handles, resize, and rotation handles are hidden when disabled - Layout X/Y/W/H/R fields in the Design panel are read-only when disabled - "Manual positioning" toggle added at the bottom of the Design panel, visible whether or not an element is selected - Toggle state is persisted to `.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json` so each project can opt in independently - `STUDIO_PREVIEW_MANUAL_EDITING_ENABLED` env flag still acts as a hard cap (env off → feature off regardless of project setting) * feat(studio): enable manual positioning by default (opt-out) * feat(studio): allow absolute elements to drag without toggle; gate JSON-backed drag behind toggle * feat(studio): persist positions directly to HTML; remove JSON sidecar and manual positioning toggle Replace the `.hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json` sidecar with inline-style persistence baked directly into the HTML source. Drag/resize/rotation values are written as CSS custom properties (`--hf-studio-offset-x/y`, `--hf-studio-width/height`, `--hf-studio-rotation`) plus `translate`/`width`/`height`/`rotate` inline styles via `persistDomEditOperations` — no re-apply step needed on load. Key changes: - `sourcePatcher`: add `value: string | null` to `PatchOperation` — null removes the property/attribute from the HTML tag instead of setting it - `manualEditsDom`: add `build*Patches` / `buildClear*Patches` helpers that capture live element state into `PatchOperation[]` for HTML source writes; add `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek` (DOM-query-based seek hook, queries data-attribute markers) - `manualEdits.ts`: remove `applyStudioManualEditManifest` and all manifest target resolution; export `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek`; keep seek/play wrap infrastructure - `useManifestPersistence`: remove all JSON I/O — no disk read on load, no manifest state, no toggle state; `applyCurrentStudioManualEditsToPreview` now only installs seek hooks via `reapplyPositionEditsAfterSeek` - `useDomEditCommits`: replace `commitStudioManualEditManifestOptimistically` calls with direct DOM apply + `commitPositionPatchToHtml` (queued HTML patch write, skipRefresh) - `DomEditOverlay`: remove `manualEditsEnabled` prop; revert all `canMove || manualEditsEnabled` gates to just `canApplyManualOffset` — every draggable element is always draggable - `PropertyPanel`: remove `ManualPositioningToggle` component and all toggle props - `manualEditsParsing/manualEditsTypes`: remove manifest types, upsert functions, and `STUDIO_MANUAL_EDITS_PATH`; keep `finiteNumber`, `readStudioFileChangePath`, `roundRotationAngle`, and snapshot/CSS-property types * fix(studio): sync keyboard shortcut handler with main; fix keepPlaying seek assertions in test * fix(studio): strip GSAP-cached translate from transform on path offset apply * fix(studio): remove Reset edits button from design panel * feat(studio): wire reloadPreview into manifest persistence; drop stale group-selection refresh - Pass `reloadPreview` into `useManifestPersistence` so undo/redo reloads via the refresh-key path instead of directly touching the iframe. - Remove `refreshDomEditGroupSelectionsFromPreview` from commit handlers; HTML is now the source of truth so no stale-ref refresh is needed. - Add `manualEditsRenderScript` helper; export via studio-api and apply it in `htmlCompiler` during HTML compilation. * fix(studio): prevent root composition from being selected; correct overlay drift on resize - Guard `getDomLayerPatchTarget` against elements with `data-composition-id` so the root composition div is never returned as a visual selection target. - Apply the same guard to the raw `elementFromPoint` fallback in `getPreviewTargetFromPointer`, which was the actual escape path. - Thread `iframeRef` into gesture handler opts; after applying draft dimensions during resize, re-read the element BCR via `toOverlayRect` and update the overlay box position to compensate for visual drift on elements with centered transform-origin (e.g. GSAP scale tweens). * fix(studio): correct resize overlay for scaled elements; block invisible element selection - Resize: use BCR from `toOverlayRect` for both position and size after applying draft dimensions — GSAP scale makes visual size diverge from raw CSS size, BCR is the only accurate source during a gesture. - Click selection: add `isElementComputedVisible` guard to the `elementFromPoint` fallback so opacity-0 / autoAlpha-hidden elements cannot be selected even though the browser hit-test returns them. * fix(studio): reload preview on external file changes via SSE/HMR Share the app-level domEditSaveTimestampRef with useManifestPersistence so the SSE/HMR handler can suppress echoes from all studio saves (code tab, timeline, DOM edits), then call reloadPreview() for non-motion external changes that aren't echoes of our own saves. * fix(studio): suppress post-resize click to keep selection on resized element * fix(studio): serve registry blocks without index.html in preview Blocks ship as {id}.html + assets/ with no index.html. The preview route hard-coded index.html so these projects returned 404 and their assets (e.g. korea-map.png, map-nyc-paris.png) were never served. Add resolveProjectMainHtml() that falls back to {id}.html, thread the resolved compositionPath through transformPreviewHtml and injectStudioPreviewAugmentations, and update listProjects() in the vite adapter to surface block directories in the project list. * fix(render): preserve studio drag/resize/rotation offsets in rendered video Three issues caused studio-edited positions to be lost during rendering: 1. The seek-reapply script used setInterval to wrap window.__hf.seek, but Puppeteer's page.evaluate() calls don't yield the event loop for macrotasks — the interval never fired, so reapplyAll() never ran after GSAP seeks. Fix: use Object.defineProperty to trap writes to the seek property, wrapping it synchronously the instant the bridge assigns it. 2. MEDIA_VISUAL_STYLE_PROPERTIES (copied from <video> to proxy <img> during render) included "transform" but not "translate", "rotate", or "scale" — the CSS Transforms Level 2 individual properties used by studio drag/resize/rotation. The proxy was positioned at offsetLeft/ offsetTop without the translate offset. 3. getViewportMatrix (HDR compositor) only read cs.transform, missing individual transform properties entirely. Added composeIndividualTransforms to build the translate × rotate × scale matrix and compose it before the legacy transform matrix. * fix(studio): select elements with pointer-events: none in preview Compositions often set pointer-events: none on scenes, avatar wrappers, and decorative layers. elementsFromPoint() skips these elements entirely, making them unselectable in the Studio. Fix: temporarily inject a * { pointer-events: auto !important } stylesheet during hit-testing, then remove it immediately after. Also adds a pointer_events_none lint rule (info severity, visible with --verbose) so authors know which selectors may affect Studio selection. |

Before releasing manual editing, users need a way to recover from visual property changes, source-editor saves, timeline moves/resizes/deletes, and timeline asset drops. The history also needs to survive a page refresh. A refresh should not erase the only way back from a bad manual edit. - Adds a persistent per-project edit-history model for file snapshots. - Stores undo/redo stacks in IndexedDB so history survives Studio refreshes. - Records source editor saves, manual DOM edits, and timeline mutations. - Adds toolbar undo/redo buttons with standard keyboard shortcuts: `Cmd/Ctrl+Z`, `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Z`, and `Ctrl+Y`. - Validates current file hashes before applying undo/redo so external file changes do not silently overwrite newer content. - Keeps history available in memory if IndexedDB persistence fails during a session. - Adds focused unit coverage for the pure history model, storage adapter, controller/hook behavior, and project-file save helper. Studio previously treated every editor mutation as an immediate file write. Manual DOM editing, timeline updates, and source-editor saves each had separate write paths, so there was no common transaction boundary where Studio could capture the file contents before and after an edit. Undo/redo needed to sit above those write paths as a file-level transaction system: capture changed files before saving, write the new contents, persist the history entry by project, then apply undo/redo only when the current file content still matches the expected snapshot. - `bun --filter @hyperframes/studio test src/utils/editHistory.test.ts src/utils/editHistoryStorage.test.ts src/hooks/usePersistentEditHistory.test.ts src/utils/studioFileHistory.test.ts` -> 4 files pass, 15 tests pass - `bun --filter @hyperframes/studio test` -> 26 files pass, 289 tests pass - `bun --filter @hyperframes/studio typecheck` - `bunx oxlint packages/studio/src/App.tsx packages/studio/src/icons/SystemIcons.tsx packages/studio/src/hooks/usePersistentEditHistory.ts packages/studio/src/hooks/usePersistentEditHistory.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistory.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistory.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistoryStorage.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistoryStorage.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/studioFileHistory.ts packages/studio/src/utils/studioFileHistory.test.ts` -> 0 warnings, 0 errors - `bunx oxfmt --check packages/studio/src/App.tsx packages/studio/src/icons/SystemIcons.tsx packages/studio/src/hooks/usePersistentEditHistory.ts packages/studio/src/hooks/usePersistentEditHistory.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistory.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistory.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistoryStorage.ts packages/studio/src/utils/editHistoryStorage.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/studioFileHistory.ts packages/studio/src/utils/studioFileHistory.test.ts` - `git diff --check` - `bun run --filter @hyperframes/core build:hyperframes-runtime` before commit hook, because the clean worktree needed the ignored runtime-inline artifact for typecheck - Lefthook pre-commit -> lint, format, typecheck pass - Lefthook commit-msg -> commitlint pass - Started Studio locally at `http://127.0.0.1:5190/#project/undo-redo-sample`. - Used `agent-browser` to select a preview element in the Inspector and change `#hero-card` from `left: 220px` to `left: 260px`. - Refreshed Studio and verified Undo stayed enabled. - Clicked Undo and verified the project file returned to `left: 220px`; clicked Redo and verified the inline `left: 260px` returned. - Used `agent-browser` to drag the `side-card` timeline clip, refreshed Studio, then verified Undo restored the previous timeline attributes and Redo reapplied the timeline move. - Recorded the tested undo/redo flow with `agent-browser`: `qa-artifacts/studio-undo-redo-2026-04-28/studio-undo-redo-flow.webm`. - Local screenshots and recordings are kept under `qa-artifacts/studio-undo-redo-2026-04-28/` and are intentionally not committed. - The scratch Studio project used for browser proof is local-only under `packages/studio/data/projects/undo-redo-sample/` and is intentionally not committed. - The PR intentionally excludes the earlier PRD/TDD planning notes under `docs/superpowers/`; those remain local-only per request. * fix: align Studio capture with preview (#595) Studio frame capture could fail for projects mounted outside the repo when the project id came from an encoded hash route. A project like `Notion Showcase` loaded as `#project/Notion%20Showcase`, but the capture URL encoded that already-encoded value again, producing `/api/projects/Notion%2520Showcase/...` and a 404. While validating the fix by seeking through the preview, capture also diverged from the visible player for nested compositions because the thumbnail route sought raw timelines instead of the same player seek path used by Studio preview. - Decodes project ids when reading Studio `#project/...` routes and centralizes project hash/API path construction. - Keeps API URLs encoded exactly once, including project names with spaces, literal `%`, reserved characters, and unicode. - Updates Studio thumbnail capture to prefer `window.__player.seek(t)` and only fall back to raw timeline seeking for standalone pages. - Preserves explicit `t=0` thumbnail requests instead of falling back to `0.5` seconds. - Adds preview-regression CI coverage for Studio routing, frame capture URL construction, thumbnail seeking, and core thumbnail seek parsing. Studio treated the hash route segment as the canonical project id even when the browser had already percent-encoded it. `buildFrameCaptureUrl` then encoded that string again, so a decoded project directory name and the capture API path no longer matched. The preview/capture mismatch was a separate seek-path issue: the visible Studio preview seeks through the HyperFrames player, which maps global time into nested composition time. The capture route bypassed that layer and paused all registered timelines at the same global time. The zero-second capture case came from parsing `t` with a truthiness fallback, so `parseFloat("0") || 0.5` became `0.5`. - `bun run --cwd packages/studio test -- vite.thumbnail.test.ts src/utils/projectRouting.test.ts src/utils/frameCapture.test.ts` - `bun run --cwd packages/core test -- src/studio-api/routes/thumbnail.test.ts` - `bunx oxfmt --check .github/workflows/preview-regression.yml packages/studio/vite.thumbnail.ts packages/studio/vite.thumbnail.test.ts packages/studio/vite.config.ts packages/studio/src/utils/projectRouting.ts packages/studio/src/utils/projectRouting.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/frameCapture.ts packages/studio/src/App.tsx packages/core/src/studio-api/routes/thumbnail.ts packages/core/src/studio-api/routes/thumbnail.test.ts` - `bunx oxlint .github/workflows/preview-regression.yml packages/studio/vite.thumbnail.ts packages/studio/vite.thumbnail.test.ts packages/studio/vite.config.ts packages/studio/src/utils/projectRouting.ts packages/studio/src/utils/projectRouting.test.ts packages/studio/src/utils/frameCapture.ts packages/studio/src/App.tsx packages/core/src/studio-api/routes/thumbnail.ts packages/core/src/studio-api/routes/thumbnail.test.ts` - `bun run --cwd packages/studio typecheck` - `bun run --cwd packages/core build:hyperframes-runtime` - `bun run --cwd packages/core typecheck` - `git diff --check` Pre-commit also reran lint, format, and typecheck successfully for the committed files. Using `agent-browser`, I mounted `/Users/miguel07code/Downloads/Notion Showcase` into Studio's project data and opened: ```text http://127.0.0.1:5197/#project/Notion%20Showcase ``` Before the fix, Capture requested `/api/projects/Notion%2520Showcase/thumbnail/index.html?...` and Studio showed `Capture failed`. After the fix, I sought the preview to `0s`, `2s`, `10s`, and `18s`, captured each frame, and compared the visible preview crop against the capture output. The capture URLs all used `Notion%20Showcase`, not `Notion%2520Showcase`, and no failure toast appeared. Mean pixel diffs for preview vs capture were: - `0s`: `0.0` - `2s`: `0.8641` - `10s`: `0.3496` - `18s`: `0.2309` The small non-zero diffs are raster/antialias-level differences after resizing the capture to the preview crop dimensions. - Browser screenshots, comparison sheets, network logs, and the `agent-browser` recording are local-only under `qa-artifacts/capture-button/` and are not committed. - The local Notion Showcase project mount is an ignored symlink under `packages/studio/data/projects/` and is not committed. - Thumbnail cache versions were bumped so stale captures generated with the old seek behavior are not reused. * feat: persist studio manual edits via manifest * fix(studio): stabilize manual edit manifest rendering * fix(studio): allow master canvas layer selection * fix(studio): scale master edits in source coordinates * fix(studio): reapply manual edits during playback * fix(studio): keep rotation edit base stable * feat(studio): highlight hovered canvas target * fix(studio): drag hovered canvas targets immediately * fix(studio): rotate manual edits around center * fix(studio): keep rotate handle aligned while dragging * fix(studio): allow small rotation adjustments * fix(studio): match rotate handle size to resize handle * fix(studio): connect rotate handle line to selection * feat(studio): reset selected manual edits * fix(studio): route inspector geometry through manual edits * feat: add studio group repositioning * fix: preserve studio group selections * fix: seed additive studio selection groups * fix: select studio groups on pointerdown * fix: harden studio group overlay events * fix: address studio manual edit review feedback * fix: apply nested manual edits in drilled previews * fix: commit drag offsets from gesture math * fix: persist manual preview edits on refresh * fix: harden manual edit refresh apply * fix: share manual edit render runtime * chore: release v0.5.0-alpha.15 * feat(core): add studio animation preview APIs * feat(studio): add alpha editor layer inspector * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.1 * feat(studio): enable inspector panels by default * fix(studio): keep motion panel opt-in * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.2 * feat: auto-open timeline clip layers * feat: show composition loading in studio * feat: disable Studio timeline while composition loads * chore: ignore .claude directory * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.3 * feat(studio): simplify inspector selection ux * fix(studio): keep notion preview playback moving * fix(studio): handle raster inspector clicks * fix(studio): stale selection, rotation control, design panel polish Fixes and improvements based on power-user testing feedback: 1. Fix stale selection after style edits — handleDomStyleCommit now calls refreshDomEditSelectionFromPreview after persisting, matching every other commit handler. Without this, the PropertyPanel showed frozen computedStyles after color/radius/shadow edits, making it look like editing "didn't work." Also adds error handling around the persist call. 2. Add rotation field to the Design panel Layout section — reads the current rotation angle from the manual edit manifest and commits via the existing handleDomRotationCommit handler. 3. Enable motion panel by default — STUDIO_MOTION_PANEL_ENABLED now defaults to true so the Motion tab is discoverable without env vars. 4. Color controls only when element has color — fill color section now only shows when the element has an explicit non-transparent background-color. Text color shows only when the element has a color style. Prevents showing color pickers on elements where color edits have no visible effect. 5. Exclude canvas from selection — added "canvas" to DOM_LAYER_IGNORED_TAGS so canvas elements are not selectable in the preview or listed in the layer panel. 6. Multi-selection feedback — shows "N elements selected" with guidance instead of the generic empty state when multiple elements are selected. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): prevent browser launch timeout from crashing dev server The shared Puppeteer browser pool in getSharedBrowser() could throw a 30s TimeoutError during launch. This error propagated as an uncaught rejection and killed the vite process, even though generateThumbnail had its own try/catch — the browser launch promise rejected outside that scope. Now getSharedBrowser itself catches launch failures and returns null, so thumbnails degrade gracefully instead of crashing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): revert motion panel default to false Motion panel stays opt-in via env var per product direction. Only the Design panel is enabled by default. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): prevent read-only property crash in manual edit wrappers The seek/play/applyAfter wrapper functions in manualEdits.ts crashed with "Cannot set property X which has only a getter" when the player or timeline objects define seek/play as getter-only properties. This prevented ALL manual edits (position, rotation, size) from persisting to disk — the error thrown during applyCurrentStudioManualEditsToPreview aborted the save queue. Wrapped all three property assignments in try/catch so wrapping gracefully degrades when the target object is non-configurable. Verified: position edit (X=42px) now persists to .hyperframes/studio-manual-edits.json and survives page refresh. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: alpha preview e2e fixes — exports, init templates, EPIPE crash Three bugs found via automated e2e testing of the v0.6.0-alpha preview: 1. core: add missing package.json export specifiers for studio-api/manual-edits-render-script and studio-api/studio-motion-render-script — the alpha.3 npm publish failed because the studio build could not resolve these sub-paths. 2. cli: fix init --example creating empty projects — tsup leaves empty template directories in dist/ during the build, causing existsSync(templateDir) to return true and skip the remote fetch fallback. Now checks for index.html inside the dir instead. 3. engine: fix unhandled EPIPE crash in streaming encoder — ffmpeg stdin/stdout had no error handlers, so a write after the ffmpeg process exits throws an uncaught error that crashes the process. Verified with 8 consecutive e2e iterations (424 test runs, 0 flaky). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): thumbnail crash, feature defaults, multi-select UX, fps selector Power-user audit fixes for the alpha studio: - vite.config.ts: wrap thumbnail generation in try/catch so Puppeteer TimeoutError doesn't crash the entire vite dev server as an uncaught rejection. Close the page on error to prevent browser session leaks. - manualEditingAvailability.ts: enable motion panel and manual canvas drag editing by default (were both false, undiscoverable without knowing the env vars). - PropertyPanel.tsx: show "N elements selected" feedback when multiple elements are selected instead of the generic "Select an element" empty state. - RenderQueue.tsx + App.tsx: add FPS selector (24/30/60) to the render export bar instead of hardcoding 30fps. Pass the user's choice through to startRender. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.4 * fix(runtime): update clock duration when root timeline is late-bound Compositions with external sub-compositions (like apple-presentation with 7 slides) load child compositions via fetch(). The root GSAP timeline is only bound after all external compositions finish loading, but the TransportClock duration was only set during initial setup. When bindRootTimelineIfAvailable runs after the external compositions load, it captures the root timeline but never updates the clock. player.getDuration() continues returning 0, so the player's probe interval never fires the 'ready' event, and the Studio shows "Loading composition" indefinitely. Now bindRootTimelineIfAvailable updates clock.setDuration when the root timeline is late-bound. Guarded with try/catch for the early call site where clock is not yet initialized (temporal dead zone). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): block element selection while composition is loading Prevent users from selecting elements in the preview while the composition is still loading (showing "Loading composition" overlay). Selection and hover highlighting are suppressed until the player fires the ready event. Also reverts motion panel and manual drag editing defaults to false — these were accidentally set to true during the PR #693 merge. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.5 * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.6 * fix(runtime): remove per-tick timeline.pause() that causes audio stutter The seekRuntimeTimeline helper added timeline.pause() before every totalTime() seek. During transport-driven playback, this runs 60 times per second, causing GSAP to cascade pause events to media elements on every frame. The result: audio plays/stops/plays/stops in a stutter pattern. The captured root timeline is already paused once in player.play() — the TransportClock drives it via totalTime(t) which keeps it paused. The extra per-tick pause() was redundant for the root timeline but actively harmful for media sync. Fix: restore the original inline seek for the captured timeline (totalTime without pause), keep seekRuntimeTimeline with pause() only for standalone child timelines where explicit pause control is needed. Also fixes rebase artifact: missing PropertyPanel props in App.tsx. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.7 * fix(studio): restore text field handlers lost in rebase Restores handleDomAddTextField and handleDomRemoveTextField that were dropped when resolving App.tsx conflicts during the main→next rebase. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.8 * fix(runtime): comprehensive audio stutter fix Three changes that together caused audio play/stop/play/stop stutter during transport-driven playback: 1. seekRuntimeTimeline called timeline.pause() before every totalTime() seek, 60x per second. GSAP cascades pause to media elements on every frame. Fix: restore original inline seek for the captured timeline (totalTime without pause). The timeline is already paused once in player.play(). seekRuntimeTimeline with pause() remains only for standalone child timelines. 2. player.play() removed the !tl guard, allowing play without a captured timeline. But getSafeTimelineDurationSeconds(null) returns 0, so the clock has no duration → immediately reaches end → stops → restarts. Fix: when no timeline provides duration, fall back to the root composition element's data-duration attribute. 3. Audio source attachment added networkState guard that could cause the clock to flicker between audio-source and monotonic timing on transient media states. Fix: keep !rawEl.error guard (prevents errored audio from freezing the clock) but drop the networkState check. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(runtime): skip drift corrections on playing video elements Seeking a playing video resets the browser's decoder pipeline, causing a ~150ms freeze while it re-buffers. During that freeze the monotonic clock advances, drift grows, and strict sync fires another seek — creating a perpetual stutter loop (176 seek events / 8s observed on the apple-presentation composition). Skip strict and force drift corrections for playing video elements; only hard sync (>0.5s catastrophic drift) warrants the decoder-reset cost. Audio elements are unaffected and retain the full correction tiers. Also propagate the asset-loading overlay state to the timeline so controls are disabled during "Preparing preview assets", matching the existing behavior for the initial composition loading overlay. * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.9 * feat(studio): consolidate keyboard shortcuts into single handler Move all window-level keyboard shortcuts from 4 separate files into one `handleAppKeyDown` listener in App.tsx: - Shift+T: toggle timeline (was App.tsx, separate useMountEffect) - Cmd/Ctrl+Z: undo (was App.tsx, separate useEffect) - Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Z: redo (was App.tsx, separate useEffect) - Cmd/Ctrl+1: sidebar Compositions tab (was LeftSidebar.tsx) - Cmd/Ctrl+2: sidebar Assets tab (was LeftSidebar.tsx) - Delete/Backspace: remove selected element (was Timeline.tsx) LeftSidebar exposes a ref handle for tab switching. Timeline watches selectedElement becoming null to clean up popover/range UI state. History hotkey kept as named function for iframe forwarding. Playback shortcuts (Space, J/K/L, arrows) and caption nudge remain in their component hooks — tightly coupled to component state. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): sidebar tab overflow + hot-reload double-refresh 1. Sidebar tabs: use equal 1fr columns, shorter "Comps" label, truncate on overflow, tighter padding. Fixes tabs clipping outside the rounded pill at narrow sidebar widths. 2. Hot reload: set domEditSaveTimestampRef before every save-then-refresh path (source editor, timeline move/resize/delete, asset drop). The file-change watcher already checks this timestamp and suppresses echoed events — but source editor saves and timeline operations weren't setting it, causing a double refreshKey increment that could leave the player in a non-playable state. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): delete key removes preview-selected elements The consolidated keyboard handler only checked selectedElementId (timeline clips). When a user selected a child element in the preview via the inspector, selectedElementId was null because the element didn't correspond to a top-level timeline clip, so Delete/Backspace did nothing. Add handleDomEditElementDelete that removes the element referenced by the current domEditSelection via the remove-element mutation API. The Delete key handler now falls through from timeline selection to DOM edit selection. * fix(studio): remove unused deleteInFlightRef from Timeline Leftover from moving Delete handling to the consolidated keyboard handler in App.tsx. Also suppress pre-existing exhaustive-deps warning on the intentional every-render selection-change watcher. * fix(studio): forward all keyboard shortcuts to preview iframe The consolidated handleAppKeyDown was only added to the parent window. When focus was inside the preview iframe (after clicking an element), keydown events didn't reach the parent, so Delete and other shortcuts didn't fire. Replace the per-function iframe forwarding (handleTimelineToggleHotkey only) with the full app-level handler via a ref-stable wrapper. All app shortcuts (Delete, Undo/Redo, Shift+T, Cmd+1/2) now work from within the preview iframe. * fix(core): search inside <template> content when removing elements linkedom's document.querySelectorAll does not traverse <template> content. Elements in template-based compositions (like .title-word, .bullet-text) were invisible to the removal logic, so delete returned changed: false and the element survived the reload. Fall back to template.querySelectorAll when the document-level query returns no matches. Uses template.querySelectorAll directly (not template.content.querySelectorAll) because removing from the content DocumentFragment doesn't update the serialized output. * fix(studio): suppress loading overlay on hot-reload Only show the composition loading overlay on the first iframe load. Hot-reloads (source editor save, timeline edits, element delete) no longer flash the full-screen loading state. * fix(studio): reorder design panel, fix stroke height, rename Blending - Move Text section to the top of the panel (before Layout) - Remove Selection Colors section - Rename "Blending" to "Transparency" - Fix stroke Width/Style height mismatch by making SelectField use inline label layout matching MetricField * fix(studio): prevent panel scroll when wheel-adjusting metric inputs React registers onWheel passively, so preventDefault had no effect on the parent scroll container. Replace with a native wheel listener (passive: false) that blocks both default scroll and propagation. * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.10 * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.11 * fix(studio): clean next alpha inspector artifacts * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.12 * fix(studio,player,core): eliminate double audio and manifest polling loop (#722) Three bugs that compound in Studio preview: 1. **Double audio on pause/resume**: syncRuntimeMedia played audio through the HTML <audio> element while WebAudioTransport simultaneously played the same source through AudioBufferSourceNode. Fixed by passing webAudio.isActive() as outputMuted so HTML elements stay muted when Web Audio owns playback. Also removed the priorMuted restore in stopAll() which raced with the next play cycle. 2. **Manifest polling loop**: applyStudioManualEditsToPreview and applyStudioMotionToPreview unconditionally fetched from disk on every call, even without forceFromDisk. The runtime posts state messages every frame via postMessage, triggering React re-renders that re-invoked these functions ~60x/second. Fixed by returning early when no disk read is requested, and using refs instead of callbacks in useEffect deps. 3. **Parent proxy double-play**: the player web component created parent-frame audio proxies even when the runtime bridge was available, causing two audio sources on autoplay-blocked promotion. Fixed by skipping proxy creation when _hasRuntimeBridge returns true, and synchronously muting iframe media on promotion to close the async race window. Also fixes pre-existing ResolutionPreset type missing square variants. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): improve font picker and text property controls (#736) - Line height and letter-spacing: convert from free-text to select with presets - Font style: remove oblique (browser falls back to italic), keep normal/italic - Font weight: detect available weights via document.fonts.check(), add labels - Font source: local fonts matching Google catalog tagged as Google - Font list: balanced per-source caps prevent any source from being cut off - Sort order: Google fonts rank before Local so curated fonts appear first Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): inspector visibility, undo/redo blinking, and preview caching Inspector picks invisible elements when an ancestor has GSAP-set opacity: 0 because CSS opacity is not inherited — getComputedStyle on the child still returns 1. Walk the ancestor chain in the picker, domEditing, and overlay visibility checks to catch this. Also: - Containers with all-invisible children are no longer selectable - Selection/hover overlay hides during playback and while loading - Undo/redo no longer double-refreshes (echo suppression for all file writes) - Undo/redo reloads iframe in-place instead of recreating the Player, preserving shader transition cache - Preview routes return ETag + Cache-Control headers; composition HTML uses project signature for conditional 304, binary assets use mtime+size - Loading overlay deferred 400ms so cached loads never flash it * fix(studio): remove timeline inspector buttons, enable manual dragging Remove the eye icon (inspector) and image icon (thumbnail toggle) from timeline clips. The timeline layer inspector feature and all supporting code is removed. Enable manual dragging in the preview by default. Add scrub-to-drag on X/Y/W/H fields in the design panel. Hide the Radius section when the element has no visible background. Fix pre-existing ResolutionPreset type for square presets. * chore: release v0.6.0-alpha.13 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(studio): add rotation field, inline element drag, fix manifest load regression (#743) - Add rotation (R) field to geometry row (X, Y, W, H, R) in property panel. Goes through manifest via handleDomRotationCommit, resettable with Reset Edits. - Auto-promote display:inline elements to inline-block when dragged so translate works on inline spans. - Fix regression from polling fix: iframe load now passes readFromDiskFirst to load manifest from disk, so Reset Edits finds existing entries. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(studio): decompose App.tsx monolith (4297 → 567 lines) (#741) * refactor(studio): decompose App.tsx from 4297 to 567 lines Break the monolithic StudioApp component into focused modules: Hooks (12 new): - usePanelLayout: resizable/collapsible panel state - useFileManager: file tree, CRUD, uploads, derived lists - useManifestPersistence: manual edit + motion manifest save queue - useTimelineEditing: clip move/resize/delete/drop handlers - useDomEditSession: DOM selection, style/text commits, preview interaction - useAppHotkeys: keyboard shortcuts, undo/redo, iframe hotkey sync - useCaptionDetection: auto-detect caption compositions - useRenderClipContent: timeline clip thumbnail rendering - useConsoleErrorCapture: preview iframe console error capture - useFrameCapture: frame capture download flow - useLintModal: lint execution and modal state - useCompositionDimensions: stage-size message listener Components (6 new): - AskAgentModal: agent prompt modal - StudioHeader: toolbar with undo/redo, capture, inspector toggle - StudioLeftSidebar: file tree + code editor (handles collapsed state) - StudioPreviewArea: NLELayout + overlays + caption timeline - StudioRightPanel: Design/Motion/Renders tab panel - TimelineToolbar: zoom controls + timeline toggle Utilities (4 new): - studioHelpers: types, path helpers, DOM utilities - studioPreviewHelpers: preview pointer/player interaction - domEditHelpers: selection group algebra - studioFontHelpers: font injection + @font-face management Also removes dead timeline layer inspector code (eye icon, thumbnail toggle, layer panel) that was disabled behind a feature flag. * feat(studio): add Layer (z-index) field to design panel Adds a scrub-enabled "Layer" field below the W/H inputs in the Layout section. Available for all elements regardless of style editing capability since z-index is fundamental to composition stacking order. * docs: architecture spec for studio domain contexts, hook split, and file-size lint * docs: implementation plan for studio contexts, hook split, and file-size lint * refactor(studio): consolidate duplicate helpers in useDomEditSession Remove ~370 lines of helper functions that were copied into the hook instead of imported. All removed functions already exist in the canonical utility files (studioHelpers, studioFontHelpers, studioPreviewHelpers, domEditHelpers). Also removes the duplicate local type definitions for RightPanelTab, AgentModalAnchorPoint, and PreviewLocalPointer, and drops now-unused imports (googleFontStylesheetUrl, importedFontFaceCss, resolveVisualDomEditSelectionTarget, DomEditViewport). Temporarily excludes useDomEditSession.ts from the 500 LOC file-size check until Tasks 3-5 split it into focused hooks. * refactor(studio): extract useDomSelection from useDomEditSession * refactor(studio): extract useAskAgentModal from useDomEditSession * refactor(studio): extract usePreviewInteraction from useDomEditSession * refactor(studio): extract useDomEditCommits, useDomEditSession now thin orchestrator Split the 897-line useDomEditSession into focused hooks: - useDomEditCommits (439 LOC): manifest commits (path offset, box size, rotation, manual edits reset, motion), persist operations, element delete, font asset resolution - useDomEditTextCommits (329 LOC): style/text/text-field commits - useDomEditSession (339 LOC): thin orchestrator wiring selection, agent modal, preview interaction, and commit hooks All files now under 500 LOC limit. Removed the temporary lefthook filesize exclusion for useDomEditSession. * feat(studio): add 4 domain contexts (PanelLayout, FileManager, DomEdit, Studio) Create context providers that wrap hook return values for prop-drilling elimination. Each context destructures and reconstructs the value inside useMemo so exhaustive-deps is satisfied and re-renders are minimized. Not yet wired into App.tsx — that comes in a follow-up. * refactor(studio): wire domain contexts, eliminate prop drilling in 4 components Wire StudioProvider, PanelLayoutProvider, FileManagerProvider, and DomEditProvider in App.tsx. Migrate StudioHeader, StudioLeftSidebar, StudioPreviewArea, and StudioRightPanel to consume contexts instead of props. Prop counts reduced: - StudioHeader: 13 -> 6 - StudioLeftSidebar: 19 -> 4 - StudioPreviewArea: 37 -> 11 - StudioRightPanel: 39 -> 3 Net: -118 lines, 108 props removed from call sites. * chore: upgrade to React 19 Upgrade react and react-dom from 18.3 to 19.2.6 across the workspace. Add resolutions/overrides in root package.json to prevent peer dependency pins (e.g. @phosphor-icons/react) from pulling React 18. Regenerate bun.lock. This enables the React 19 context syntax (<Context value={...}>) used by the new domain contexts. * fix(studio): refresh preview after z-index change so stacking updates visually * fix(studio): remove duplicate duration override causing oscillation The timeline message handler set the duration twice: once via processTimelineMessage and once via a raw durationInFrames override. When drilled into a sub-composition, these could disagree, causing the duration to oscillate after element deletion. * fix(studio): use in-place iframe reload after clip delete, remove confirm dialogs Two changes to fix duration oscillation after deleting a timeline clip: 1. Replace setRefreshKey (full Player remount) with in-place iframe.contentWindow.location.reload() after deleting a clip. The full remount triggered a chaotic re-probing cycle with multiple duration sources (adapter, manifest, postMessage) fighting each other, causing the timeline to oscillate between durations. In-place reload preserves the Player web component and its state. 2. Remove window.confirm dialogs from both timeline clip delete and DOM element delete. Undo is available so the confirmation adds friction without value. * chore: gitignore docs/superpowers * feat(studio): add favicon * perf(studio): skip no-op state updates in timeline sync syncTimelineElements was called 60+ times per page load, each time triggering setElements/setDuration/setTimelineReady even when nothing changed. This caused massive re-render churn and memory usage. Add early-return guards to skip updates when values haven't changed. Also fixes the duration oscillation after element delete. * refactor(studio): split PropertyPanel.tsx (3126 LOC) into 8 focused modules The monolithic PropertyPanel.tsx exceeded the 500 LOC filesize limit. Split into cohesive modules by responsibility: - propertyPanelHelpers.ts (401) — pure utility functions, shared types/constants - propertyPanelPrimitives.tsx (357) — CommitField, MetricField, DetailField, SliderControl, SegmentedControl, SelectField, Section - propertyPanelColor.tsx (371) — ColorField, ColorSlider - propertyPanelFill.tsx (421) — ImageFillField, GradientField, asset path helpers - propertyPanelFont.tsx (455) — FontFamilyField + font catalog helpers - propertyPanelSections.tsx (453) — TextSection, TextFieldEditor, text controls - propertyPanelStyleSections.tsx (411) — StyleSections (stroke, effects, clip, fill) - PropertyPanel.tsx (347) — main component, LayerTree, re-exports for consumers All re-exports from PropertyPanel.tsx preserved for backwards compatibility. No behavioral changes — pure structural split. * fix(studio): use in-place iframe reload for all timeline operations Replace setRefreshKey with in-place iframe reload for move, resize, and asset drop — matching delete which was already fixed. Prevents the Player remount probe cycle that causes duration oscillation. * perf(studio): replace 5s polling loop with event-driven adapter init The Player's onIframeLoad used a setInterval polling loop (25 attempts × 200ms = 5 seconds) to detect when the runtime's __player/__timeline globals appeared. Each poll that missed triggered wasted work, and multiple duration sources fighting during the probe cycle caused oscillation bugs. Replace with event-driven initialization: 1. Fast path: try initializeAdapter() immediately (works for in-place reloads where the adapter is already present) 2. If not ready, listen for the runtime's "state"/"timeline" postMessage signals and initialize on the first one 3. Single 5s timeout as safety net (replaces 25 interval ticks) This eliminates the polling overhead, reduces setDuration/setElements calls to exactly 1 per load, and makes the Player responsive within one frame of the runtime being ready instead of up to 200ms later. * fix(studio): prevent duration oscillation after element delete Two fixes for the duration display oscillating between sub-composition and master durations after deleting an element in the preview: 1. Clear store elements before iframe reload in handleDomEditElementDelete. Without this, stale pre-delete elements remain in the store and cause mergeTimelineElementsPreservingDowngrades to alternate between REPLACE and PRESERVE modes as the element count fluctuates. 2. Add 500ms cooldown on enrichMissingCompositions after timeline messages. The "state" handler was calling enrichMissingCompositions every ~80ms, which added extra elements from GSAP timelines. These fought with the authoritative element list from "timeline" messages (~333ms), creating a feedback loop where element count oscillated and triggered alternating merge strategies with different durations. Pass it as the sole refresh mechanism to hooks, removing direct setRefreshKey access from useTimelineEditing and useDomEditCommits. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(studio): decompose App.tsx from 4297 to 567 lines Break the monolithic StudioApp component into focused modules: Hooks (12 new): - usePanelLayout: resizable/collapsible panel state - useFileManager: file tree, CRUD, uploads, derived lists - useManifestPersistence: manual edit + motion manifest save queue - useTimelineEditing: clip move/resize/delete/drop handlers - useDomEditSession: DOM selection, style/text commits, preview interaction - useAppHotkeys: keyboard shortcuts, undo/redo, iframe hotkey sync - useCaptionDetection: auto-detect caption compositions - useRenderClipContent: timeline clip thumbnail rendering - useConsoleErrorCapture: preview iframe console error capture - useFrameCapture: frame capture download flow - useLintModal: lint execution and modal state - useCompositionDimensions: stage-size message listener Components (6 new): - AskAgentModal: agent prompt modal - StudioHeader: toolbar with undo/redo, capture, inspector toggle - StudioLeftSidebar: file tree + code editor (handles collapsed state) - StudioPreviewArea: NLELayout + overlays + caption timeline - StudioRightPanel: Design/Motion/Renders tab panel - TimelineToolbar: zoom controls + timeline toggle Utilities (4 new): - studioHelpers: types, path helpers, DOM utilities - studioPreviewHelpers: preview pointer/player interaction - domEditHelpers: selection group algebra - studioFontHelpers: font injection + @font-face management Also removes dead timeline layer inspector code (eye icon, thumbnail toggle, layer panel) that was disabled behind a feature flag. * docs: architecture spec for studio domain contexts, hook split, and file-size lint * docs: implementation plan for studio contexts, hook split, and file-size lint * refactor(studio): consolidate duplicate helpers in useDomEditSession Remove ~370 lines of helper functions that were copied into the hook instead of imported. All removed functions already exist in the canonical utility files (studioHelpers, studioFontHelpers, studioPreviewHelpers, domEditHelpers). Also removes the duplicate local type definitions for RightPanelTab, AgentModalAnchorPoint, and PreviewLocalPointer, and drops now-unused imports (googleFontStylesheetUrl, importedFontFaceCss, resolveVisualDomEditSelectionTarget, DomEditViewport). Temporarily excludes useDomEditSession.ts from the 500 LOC file-size check until Tasks 3-5 split it into focused hooks. * refactor(studio): extract useDomSelection from useDomEditSession * refactor(studio): extract useAskAgentModal from useDomEditSession * refactor(studio): extract usePreviewInteraction from useDomEditSession * refactor(studio): extract useDomEditCommits, useDomEditSession now thin orchestrator Split the 897-line useDomEditSession into focused hooks: - useDomEditCommits (439 LOC): manifest commits (path offset, box size, rotation, manual edits reset, motion), persist operations, element delete, font asset resolution - useDomEditTextCommits (329 LOC): style/text/text-field commits - useDomEditSession (339 LOC): thin orchestrator wiring selection, agent modal, preview interaction, and commit hooks All files now under 500 LOC limit. Removed the temporary lefthook filesize exclusion for useDomEditSession. * refactor(studio): wire domain contexts, eliminate prop drilling in 4 components Wire StudioProvider, PanelLayoutProvider, FileManagerProvider, and DomEditProvider in App.tsx. Migrate StudioHeader, StudioLeftSidebar, StudioPreviewArea, and StudioRightPanel to consume contexts instead of props. Prop counts reduced: - StudioHeader: 13 -> 6 - StudioLeftSidebar: 19 -> 4 - StudioPreviewArea: 37 -> 11 - StudioRightPanel: 39 -> 3 Net: -118 lines, 108 props removed from call sites. * chore: gitignore docs/superpowers * perf(studio): skip no-op state updates in timeline sync syncTimelineElements was called 60+ times per page load, each time triggering setElements/setDuration/setTimelineReady even when nothing changed.
